  • The public survey performance review conducted by the Spatial Information Quality Management Institute is conducted at the screening rate in accordance with the regulations, and the examiner directly judges the overall trend of the submitted performance based on the extracted sample. However, the evaluation of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the evaluation trustee shall be specified by random extraction (Random Collection) is specified by the sample. In this study, it analyzed the details of the actual site and analyzed through securing actual performance review data. In addition, we analyzed considerations according to various field conditions and studied ways to apply the public survey performance review sampling algorithm. Therefore, detailed sampling criteria analysis by performance reviewers is necessary. A relative comparison was made feasible by comparing the data for which the real performance evaluation was performed with the outcomes of the Python automation program. This automation program is expected to be employed as a foundation program for the automated application of public survey performance evaluation sampling in the future.

  • Either systematic sampling or stratified sampling is usually applied to the business conditions survey when companies don't have much difference in their size. But the cutoff systematic sampling is an efficient method when only a few companies are so large that the total of them almost equals to the total of whole companies. Throughout this paper, three estimators of total and their variance estimations depending on three kinds of sampling schemes are discussed, and are compared with them via their variances. It is proved that the cut-off systematic sampling is most efficient by using a real data of the logging business conditions survey.

  • For a sensitive survey in which the population is comprised of several clusters with a quantitative attribute, we present an additive quantitative randomized response model by cluster sampling that adapts a two-stage cluster sampling instead of a simple random sample based on Himmelfarb-Edgell's additive quantitative attribute model and Gjestvang-Singh's one. We also derive optimum values for the number of 1st stage clusters and the optimum values of observation units in a 2nd stage cluster under the condition of minimizing the variance given constant cost. We can see that Himmelfarb-Edgell's model is more efficient than Gjestvang-Singh's model under the condition of cluster sampling.

  • In this study, the new method for reliability estimation is proposed using kriging metamodel. Kriging metamodel can be determined by appropriate sampling range and sampling numbers because there are no random errors in the Design and Analysis of Computer Experiments(DACE) model. The first kriging metamodel is made based on widely ranged sampling points. The Advanced First Order Reliability Method(AFORM) is applied to the first kriging metamodel to estimate the reliability approximately. Then, the second kriging metamodel is constructed using additional sampling points with updated sampling range. The Monte-Carlo Simulation(MCS) is applied to the second kriging metamodel to evaluate the reliability. The proposed method is applied to numerical examples and the results are almost equal to the reference reliability.

  • Simulating rare events, such as probability of cell loss in ATM networks, machine failure in highly reliable systems, requires huge simulation efforts due to the low chance of occurrence. Importance Sampling (IS) has been applied to accelerate the occurrence of rare events. However, it has a drawback of effective biasing scheme to make the estimator of IS unbiased. Adaptive Importance Sampling (AIS) employs an estimated sampling distribution of IS to the system of interest during the course of simulation. We propose Nonparametric Adaptive Importance Sampling (NAIS) technique which is nonparametrical version of AIS. We test NAIS to estimate a probability of rare event in M/M/1 queueing model. Comparing with classical Monte Carlo simulation, the computational efficiency and variance reductions gained via NAIS are substantial. A possible extension of NAIS regarding with random number generation is also discussed.

  • In the present paper an attempt has been made to develop a stratified ramdomized response technique when the respondents are selected using simple random sampling without replacement (SRSWOR) as well as simple random sampling with replacement (SRSWR). The conditions under which the proposed technique will be more efficient than the corresponding Warner's technique have been obtained.

  • A new method to estimate the mean areal precipitation using kriging is developed. Urlike the conventional approach, points for double and quadruple numerical integrations in the kriging equation are selected randomly, given the boundary of area of interest. This feature eliminates the conventional approach's necessity of dividing the area into subareas and calculating the center of each subarea, which in turn makes the developed method more powerful in the case of complex boundaries. The algorithm to select random points within an arbitrary boundary, based on the theory of complex variables, is described. The results of Monte Carlo simulation showed that the error associated with estimation using randomly selected points is inversely proportional to the square root of the number of sampling points.

  • We investigate the averaging value of a random sampling of a Dirichlet series with some condition using Poisson distribution. Our result is the following: Let $L(s)={\sum}^{\infty}_{n=1}{\frac{a_n}{n^s}}$ be a Dirichlet series that converges absolutely for Re(s) > 1. If $X_t$ is an increasing random sampling with Poisson distribution and there exists a number $0<{\alpha}<{\frac{1}{2}}$ such that ${\sum}_{n{\leq}u}a_n{\ll}u^{\alpha}$, then we have $${\mathbb{E}}L(1/2+iX_t)=O(t^{\alpha}{\sqrt{{\log}t}})$$, for all sufficiently large t in ${\mathbb{R}}$. As a result, we get the behaviour of $L({\frac{1}{2}}+it)$ such that L is a Dirichlet L-function or a modular L-function, when t is sampled by the Poisson distribution.

  • In the environment that the complex conditions need to be satisfied, skyline query have been applied to various field. To processing a skyline query in centralized scheme, several techniques have been suggested and recently map/reduce platform based approaches has been proposed which divides data space into multiple partitions for the vast volume of multidimensional data. However, the performances of these approaches are fluctuated due to the uneven data loading between servers and redundant tasks. Motivated by these issues, this paper suggests a novel technique called MR-DEAP which solves the uneven data loading using the random sampling. The experimental result gains the proposed MR-DEAP outperforms MR-Angular and MR-BNL scheme.

  • Astochastic finite element model which reflects both the effect of discontinuities and the uncertainty of material properties in underground rock mass has been developed. Latin Hypercube Sampling technique has been mobilized and compared with the Monte Carlo simulation method. To consider the effect of discontinuities, the joint finite element model, which is known to be suitable to explain faults, cleavage, things of that nature, has been used in this study. To reflect the uncertainty of material properties, multi-random variables are assumed as the joint normal stiffness and the joint shear stiffness, which could be simulated in terms of normal distribution. The developed computer program in this study has been verified by practical example and has been applied to analyze the circular cavern with discontinuous rock mass.
