  • China has retained economic growth rate of average 9% for more than ten years recently after China introduced capitalistic market economy system in 1979 by Deng Xiaoping. China has attracted foreign direct investment for a long time because it has retained very high economic growth rate, low labor cost, and various policies for foreign investors. This paper tries to analyse the determinants of foreign direct investment inflow after reform-opening of China with empirical analysis methods utilizing each province·city's specific characteristics by using the panel data from 1985 to 2013. For the empirical analysis we use random effect model, fixed effect model, pooled OLS, and random coefficient model. The results by pooled OLS and random coefficient model are presented for the comparison with the main results in the process of research. The research shows the results by fixed effect model are better than those by random effect model after doing Hausman's test. The results shows that GRDP, capital stock, and telecommunication exert a positive relationship with foreign direct investment, while express way variable exerts a negative one. China's education level surprisingly does not attract foreign direct investment even though it is not at a critical level. Therefore, the Chinese government should try to increase national income level as it symbolizes market size; encourage domestic investment; and construct high quality telecommunication infrastructure.

  • Random amplified Polymorphic DNA (RAPD) analysis Is based on the amplification of random DNA segment using a single arbitrary primer. Polymorphic DNA patterns identified by this method can be used for typing Listeria monocytogenes. To select the primers for RAPD typing Listeria spp., the performance of 31 primers were compared by analyzing 13 Listeria spp. reference strains. Reproducible electrophoresis patterns were obtained. Among 31 primers, 6 primers (primer 6, HLWL74, UBC155, UBC127, Lis5, Lis11) showed better differentiation, when discrimination index, band clarity, band number, difficulty of band scoring were considered than the others. These primers will be useful far typing Listeria spp. in the future. Currently, we are under investigation for the RAPD typing of contaminated L. monocytogenes for the risk analysis of pork processing plant using these primers.

  • This paper investigates the concrete permeability through a numerical and statistical approach. Concrete is considered as a random heterogeneous composite of three phases: aggregates, interfacial transition zones (ITZ) and matrix. The paper begins with some classical bound and estimate theories applied to concrete permeability and the influence of ITZ on these bound and estimate values is discussed. Numerical samples for permeability analysis are established through random aggregate structure (RAS) scheme, each numerical sample containing randomly distributed aggregates coated with ITZ and dispersed in a homogeneous matrix. The volumetric fraction of aggregates is fixed and the size distribution of aggregates observes Fuller's curve. Then finite element method is used to solve the steady permeation problem on 2D numerical samples and the overall permeability is deduced from flux-pressure relation. The impact of ITZ on overall permeability is analyzed in terms of ITZ width and contrast ratio between ITZ and matrix permeabilities. Hereafter, 3680 samples are generated for 23 sample sizes and 4 contrast ratios, and statistical analysis is performed on the permeability dispersion in terms of sample size and ITZ characteristics. By sample theory, the size of representative volume element (RVE) for permeability is then quantified considering sample realization number and expected error. Concluding remarks are provided for the impact of ITZ on concrete permeability and its statistical characteristics.

  • The randomization of scalar multiplication in ECC is one of the fundamental concepts in defense methods against side-channel attacks. This paper proposes a countermeasure against simple and differential power analysis attacks through randomizing the transformed m-ary method based on a random m-ary receding algorithm. The proposed method requires an additional computational load compared to the standard m-ary method, yet the power consumption is independent of the secret key. Accordingly, since computational tracks using random window width can resist against SPA and DPA, the proposed countermeasure can improve the security for smart cards.

  • With the rapid development of Internet of Things (IoT) and big data technology, a large amount of data will be generated during the operation of related industries. How to classify the generated data accurately has become the core of research on data mining and processing in IoT industry chain. This study constructs a classification model of IoT industry chain based on improved random forest algorithm and text analysis, aiming to achieve efficient and accurate classification of IoT industry chain big data by improving traditional algorithms. The accuracy, precision, recall, and AUC value size of the traditional Random Forest algorithm and the algorithm used in the paper are compared on different datasets. The experimental results show that the algorithm model used in this paper has better performance on different datasets, and the accuracy and recall performance on four datasets are better than the traditional algorithm, and the accuracy performance on two datasets, P-I Diabetes and Loan Default, is better than the random forest model, and its final data classification results are better. Through the construction of this model, we can accurately classify the massive data generated in the IoT industry chain, thus providing more research value for the data mining and processing technology of the IoT industry chain.

  • A reliability analysis is straightforwardly applied to the sloped coastal structures against the random wave overtopping. A reliability function can be directly derived from a empirical formula in which may take into account many variables associated with the random wave overtopping. The probability of failure exceeded the allowable overtopping discharge can be evaluated as a function of dimensionless crest height with some reasonable statistical properties and distribution functions of each random variable. Some differences of probabilities of failure occurred from variations of the slopes of structures as well as types of armour are investigated into quantitatively. Additionally, the effects of the crest width of units placed in front of the concrete cap on the probability of failure may be analyzed. Finally, the sensitivity analyses are carried out with respect to the uncertainties of random variables. It is found that the overall characteristics similar to the known experimental results are correctly represented in this reliability analyses. Also, it should be noted that the probabilities of failure may be quantitatively obtained for several structural and hydraulic conditions, which never assess in the deterministic design method. Thus, it may be possible for determination on the crest height of sloped coastal structures to consider the probability of failure of wave overtopping, by which may be increased the efficiency of practical design.

  • Based on random vibration theory, a procedure for calculating the dynamic response of the tall building to time-dependent random excitation is developed. In this paper, the fluctuating along- wind load is assumed as time-dependent random process described by the time-independent random process with deterministic function during a short duration of time. By deterministic function A(t)=1-exp($-{\beta}t$), the absolute value square of oscillatory function is represented from author's studies. The time-dependent random response spectral density is represented by using the absolute value square of oscillatory function and equivalent wind load spectrum of Solari. Especially, dynamic mean square response of the tall building subjected to fluctuating wind loads was derived as analysis function by the Cauchy's Integral Formula and Residue Theorem. As analysis examples, there were compared the numerical integral analytic results with the analysis fun. results by dynamic properties of the tall uilding.

  • Most dynamic systems have various random properties m excitation and system parameters. In this paper, a procedure for structural response and reliability analysis is proposed for the linear dynamic system with random properties in both excitation and system parameters. The system parameter and response with random properties are modeled by the perturbation technique, and then the response analysis is formulated by probabilistic and vibration theories. Probabilistic FEM is also used for the calculation of mean response which is difficult by the proposed response model. The first passage analysis by the integral equation method is used to analyze the probability of failure. The integral equation method results in the first passage probability in terms of crossing rates and first passage probability densities. In this study it is assumed that excitations, system parameters and responses are Gaussian. As an application example, the probabilities of failure at transient state are calculated for a sdof system with random mass and spring constant subjected to stationary white-noise excitation and the results are compared to those of numerical simulation.

  • In the seismic analysis of structures, where the dynamic soil-structure interaction (DSSI) is considred, earthquake input motions as well as dynamic soil properties are random in nature. To take into account the random nature of both the input motions and the dynamic soil properties systematically, a probabilistic analysis of the DSSI subjected to seismic loading is proposed in this paper, The complex response method formulized by the elastic half space theory, the random vibration theory, and the Rosenblueth's two-point estimate method are combined for the proposed probabilistic analysis. The conclusions drawn from this study are as follows ' 1) The uncertainty bands of the earthquake input motions proposed by Kanai-Tajimi as well as those of the dynamic properties are large the coefecients of variation of those parameters tinge from 0.4 to 0.6. 2) The uncertainties of the dynamic soil properties are more sensitive to the structural responses than those of the input motion parameters. 3) The effect of correlations between the input motion parameters and the dynamic soil properties is negligible.

  • We investigated various types of machine learning methods that can be applied to censored data. Exploratory data analysis reveals the distribution of each feature, relationships among features. Next, classification problem has been set up where the dependent variable is death_event while the rest of the features are independent variables. After applying various machine learning methods to the data, it has been found that just like many other reports from the artificial intelligence arena random forest performs better than logistic regression. But recently well performed artificial neural network and gradient boost do not perform as expected due to the lack of data. Finally Kaplan-Meier and Cox proportional hazard model have been employed to explore the relationship of the dependent variable (ti, δi) with the independent variables. Also random forest which is used in machine learning has been applied to the survival analysis with censored data.
