We consider an MMPP/G/1/K finite queue with two-level threshold overload control. This model has frequently arisen in the design of the integrated communication systems which support a wide range applications having various Quality of Service(QoS) requirements. Through the supplementary variable method, se derive the queue length distribution.
For an M/G/1 processor-sharing queue with batch arrivals, Avrachenkov et al. [1] conjectured that the conditional mean sojourn time is concave. However, Kim and Kim [5] showed that this conjecture is not true in general. In this paper, we show that this conjecture is true if the service times have a hyperexponential distribution.

The M/M/1 queue with impatient customers is studied. Impatient customers wait for service only for limited time K/0 and leave the system if their services do not start during that time. Notice that in the analysis of virtual waiting time, the impatient customer can be considered as the customer who enters the system only when his/her waiting time does not exceed K. In this paper, we apply martingale methods to the virtual waiting time and obtain the expected period from origin to the point where the virtual waiting time crosses over K or reaches 0, and the variance of this period. With this results, we obtain the expected busy period of the queue, the distribution, expectation and variance of the number of times the virtual waiting time exceeding level K during a busy period, and the probability of there being no impatient customers in a busy period.

Priority disciplines are an important scheme for service systems to differentiate their services for different classes of customers. (N, n)-preemptive priority disciplines enable system engineers to fine-tune the performances of different classes of customers arriving to the system. Due to this virtue of controllability, (N, n)-preemptive priority queueing models can be applied to various types of systems in which the service performances of different classes of customers need to be adjusted for a complex objective. In this paper, we extend the existing (N, n)-preemptive resume and (N, n)-preemptive repeat-identical priority queueing models to the (N, n)-preemptive repeat-different priority queueing model. We derive the queue-length distributions in the M/G/1 queueing model with two classes of customers, under the (N, n)-preemptive repeat-different priority discipline. In order to derive the queue-length distributions, we employ an analysis of the effective service time of a low-priority customer, a delay cycle analysis, and a joint transformation method. We then derive the first and second moments of the queue lengths of high- and low-priority customers. We also present a numerical example for the first and second moments of the queue length of high- and low-priority customers. Through doing this, we show that, under the (N, n)-preemptive repeat-different priority discipline, the first and second moments of customers with high priority are bounded by some upper bounds, regardless of the service characteristics of customers with low priority. This property may help system engineers design such service systems that guarantee the mean and variance of delay for primary users under a certain bounds, when preempted services have to be restarted with another service time resampled from the same service time distribution.
This paper propose the DoubleQ web server that classifies incoming requests according to whether the requested document is cached or not. Requests that demand a cached document is put into the Service Queue while other requests are added to the Defer Queue. The DoubleQ web server services requests that are in the Service Queue before it services requests in the Defer Queue. This strategy is used to reduce disk accesses that have been the predominant overhead of traditional web servers. Experimental results using synthetic data show that improvements in the average user response time and the throughput of the web server may be achieved.
The purposes of this study were to : (a) anlayze wating time, service rate, arrival rate, and coustomer expectations/satisfaction in cafeteria business foodservices and (b) identify the differences in those factors between foodservices by menu managmenet systems. The samples were two business foodservices operated by contract management in Seoul. The queue, laptime , service rate, and arrival rate were measured at each foodservice by stopwatch observation. The menu type, delivery system, number of meals served , servide time, and turnover rate of each foodservic was investigated. Questionnaires were developed to survey customer expectations and satisfaction. Satistical data analysis was completed using the SAS package programs for descriptive analysis and t-test. The mean waiting time of island type dafeteria system with separte set -menu was shorter than that of the other. In both foodservices, arrival rates were not significantly different from one another , but sevice rates were significnatly high in dafeteria menu systems. The peak time of the queue was found out at combination set menu line. The separate set menu line had a higher servide rate than the combination set menu line. The mean waiting time of the island type cafeteria line was shorter than that of the straifth type . At the straight type dafeterial line, both arrival rate and service rate were higher than those of island-type. The results of this study suggested that a separate set-menu would be more desirable than a combination set-menu in case of providing set menu with cafeteria menu.
According to the development of B-ISDN on ATM network, the uses of Multimedia service is growing. Although ABR service uses the network resource most effectively because it is able to change the transfer rate, it is not used for multimedia service until recently. In this paper, we set priority queue and non-priority queue in the ATM switch and each queue has threshold so is can be adopted in different transfer rate method. We propose the real-time traffic transfer method over ABR service based on an effective traffic control method.
We consider the MAP/PH/c/K queue in which blocked customers retry to get service and servers may take vacations. The time interval between retrials and vacation times are of phase type (PH) distributions. Using the method of mean drift, a sufficient condition of ergodicity is provided. A condition for the system to be unstable is also given by the stochastic comparison method.

The method on reconfiguring job priority in service queue has been developed to provide seamless service and to enhance operability of Data Service Platform(DSP) in Korean e-Navigation project that performed by Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries(MOF) since 2016. It plays a critical role for providing seamless services of DSP to expect which services ships request to DSP and how much time it costs to make services for responding them to ships in advance. Therefore, as developing a method on reconfiguring jobs in service queue of DSP with a noble algorithm to analyse priority index in parallel, DSP can provide seamless services to ships regardless of data volume and the number of requests that stacked in service queue.

To satisfy the requirements of the real-time Internet services, queue management and scheduling schemes should be enhanced to accommodate the delay and jitter characteristic of them. Although the existing queue management schemes can address the congestion problems of TCP flows, they have some problems in supporting real-time services. That is, they show performance degradation when burst traffics are continuously going into the system after the queue is occupied at a predefined threshold level. In addition, under the congestion state, they show large jitter, which is not a desirable phenomenon for real-time transmissions. To resolve these problems, we propose a SDRED (State Dependent Random Early Detection) and dynamic scheduling scheme that can improve delay and jitter performances by adjusting RED parameters such as ma $x_{th}$ and $w_{q}$ according to the queue status. The SDRED is designed to adapt to the current traffic situation by adjusting the max,$_{th}$ and $w_{q}$ to four different levels. From the simulation results, we show that the SDRED decreases packet delays in a queue and has more stable jitter characteristics than the existing RED, BLUE, ARED and DSRED schemes.mes.mes.
