Despite the recent sharp growth in the baby product market, previous studies on preschooler clothing have centered primarily on surveys regarding body size and consumer buying behavior, with little emphasis given to consumption value in preschooler clothing. This study aimed to assess the feasibility of using standards of consumption value to examine the behavior of those who buy preschooler clothing. The research subjects were mothers of preschoolers aged 1 to 6 years. They were asked to complete a questionnaire online at major parenting blogs found on portal sites (n=346). The questionnaire contained 41 questions based on a literature review, and 25 questions having convergent and discriminant validity were analyzed. By conducting a regression analysis of standards of consumption value in preschooler clothing and their perceived value, the feasibility of the standards was assessed. The results showed that consumption value in preschooler clothing was associated with 21 questions and 8 factors. The factors measuring consumption value included vicarious satisfaction, social value, functional value, convenience, financial value, aesthetic value, uniqueness, and circumstantial value. This study is significant in that it expands the scope of research on preschooler clothing, lays the groundwork for measuring consumption value in preschooler clothing, and predicts consumer behaviors by identifying the consumption value among mothers of preschoolers.
This study was proposed preschooler consumer education curriculum to give effect at a preschooler education institute and was investigated into relations with practical degree, needful degree and demandable degree according to preschooler teacher's characteristics. The survey of this research was conducted by means of questionnaire with 548 teachers of nursery and kindergarten in Seoul. Also it was carried out two stages cluster sampling, personal interview. the statistics used for data analysis was frequency, mean, percentile, t-test, one way ANOVA, Pearson's r, and regression using the SPSS/PC+ program. The results and findings of this study were summarized as follows. 1) Practical degree on total preschooler consumer education was looked into being low, also needful degree on total preschooler consumer education examined being very high. 2) Demandable degree on preschooler consumer education differed significantly according to preschooler education institute, preschooler's age in charge. 3) Practical degree on preschooler consumer education correlated positively to needful degree on preschooler consumer education. And practical degree on preschooler consumer education correlated negatively to demandable degree on preschooler consumer education. 4) Preschooler teacher's age and career had affected to money management in practical degree by regression analysis used to dummy variable related with characteristics of preschooler teacher.
The purpose of this study was to explore the mediating effects of preschooler's effortful control on the relationship between maternal emotional availability and preschooler's social skills and problem behaviors. One hundred-thirty six 5-year-old preschoolers and their mothers participated in this study. Instruments for this study were the Emotional Availability Scale for maternal emotional availability, the Delay task, and the Child Behavior Questionnaire for preschooler's effortful control, and the Social Skill Rating Scale, K-CBCL 1.5-5 and K-TRF for preschooler's social skills and problem behaviors. The resulting data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, partial correlation, and structural equation modeling analysis. As predicted, the preschooler's effortful control mediated the effects of maternal emotional availability on preschooler's social skills and problem behaviors. In conclusion, the preschooler's effortful control mediates the effects of emotion related socialization behavior on the preschooler's socio-emotional adjustment.
This study examined the effect of maternal cognitive empathy on children's executive function focusing on mediating effects of preschooler's caring behavior and happiness. The subject of this study was 460 five-year-old preschooler-their mother dyads in Korea. Data were collected by Korean Version of Questionnaire of Cognitive and Affective Empathy(K-QCAE), Caring Behaviors Scale for Young Children, Happiness Scale for Young Children and Behavior Rating Inventory of Executive Function-Preschool Version(BRIEF-P). Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, independent samples t-test, Pearson correlation analysis, structural equation model and bootstrapping test with SPSS 25.0 and AMOS 23.0 program. The major results were as follows. 1) Maternal cognitive empathy had a positive influence on preschooler's caring behavior. 2) Preschooler's caring behavior had a positive influence on happiness and executive function. 3) Preschooler's happiness had a positive influence on executive function. 4) The effect of maternal cognitive empathy on preschooler's executive function was mediated by preschooler's caring behavior. 5) The effect of maternal cognitive empathy on preschooler's executive function was sequentially mediated by preschooler's caring behavior and happiness. This study revealed that maternal cognitive empathy, preschooler's caring behavior, and happiness have an important role in preschooler's executive function. Most of all, we suggest that maternal cognitive empathy should be improved to promote preschooler's executive function. The findings of this study will contribute to designing intervention programs to improve preschooler's executive function as well as maternal empathy.
The purpose of this research is to investigate the mother and teachers need assessment for preschooler consumer education and related variables and to provide a basis for the development of consumer education program. The survey of this research was conducted by means of self-administered questionnaire with 302 mothers of the preschoolers who are 4-5 years old and attend nursery and kindergarten and 221 teachers of nursery and kindergarten in Ulsan. The statistics used for data analysis are frequencies and percentage, mean and standard deviation, on way ANOVA and Scheffee-test, Person's correlation using the SPSS/PC+ program. Some conclusions from the above investigation are as follows: 1. Each level of the need for consumer education on 22 subject area perceived by mothers and teachers of preschoolers was high and relatively high. Thus consumer education program for preschooler must include all subject area. 2. The mother's need for preschooler consumer education differs significantly according to age. The teacher's need for preschooler consumer education differs significantly according to family income. But these variables take a little effect to the need of mother and teacher. So the consumer education program doesn't need to classify by socio-economic characteristics of mother and teacher. 3. The mother's need for preschooler consumer education are positively correlated to consumer knowledge and consumer skill but negatively correlated to consumption oriented attitude. So the consumer education program needs to develop the consumer knowledge and skill and reduce consumption oriented attitude for the preschooler's mother. 4. The teacher's need for preschooler consumer education are positively correlated to the level of consumer role performance. Thus the reeducation program for the teacher needs to develop the consumer role performance.
This study investigated 3- and 5-year-old preschoolers' stress coping strategies depending on tasks, and whether preschoolers' stress coping strategies in each task depended on their temperament types. Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate the awareness and nutritional management of food allergy (FA) by preschooler's faculty members in child care centers. Methods: A questionnaire survey was conducted among faculty members of child care centers in Seoul. The questionnaire was designed to identify the prevalence of food allergies, requirements of food allergy support and differences in food management depending on the presence of allergic diseases. After excluding incomplete responses, the data of 171 faculties in 137 child care centers (95.0%) were used for statistical analysis. Results: According to the 137 collected questionnaires, 96 child care centers asked parents about their children's allergic disease and 151 children from 66 child care centers had food allergies. A reported 89 children from 43 child care centers had food restrictions. However, 9 child care centers (21.0%) were not aware of food restriction for children with food allergies. Only 6 child care centers (14.0%) supplied substitute foods with the same amount and type of nutrients. Forty eight faculties (28.1%) received training about food allergies. Although there were some differences according to institution type, most of the faculty members wanted food allergy-related support. Conclusions: This study identified a lack of food allergy training for faculty members in child care centers. For proper management, it is necessary for faculty members of child care centers to be educated on overall food allergies. Food allergy-related support such as menus without allergenic ingredients, guidelines on emergency care for food allergies and anaphylaxis should be provided for faculty members in child care centers.

Objective: The purpose of this study was two-fold: first to explore the effects of mother-child attachment and effortful control at age 1 on preschoolers' school readiness at age 6, and second, to determine the mediating effect of a child's effortful control on the relationship between mother-child attachment at age 1 in relation to school readiness at age 6. Methods: Participants in this study were 205 five-year-old toddlers(106 boys, 99 girls) recruited for the Korea Child Panel Study. Mother-child attachment was assessed using the Attachment Q-sort(Waters, 1989). Preschooler's effortful control was measured by the Early Childhood Behavior Questionnaire: ECBQ(Putnam, Gartstein & Rothbart, 2006). Preschooler's school readness was measured by the School Readiness Scale Murphey & Burns, 2002). Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, correlations, and the structural equation modeling analysis. Results: First, mother-child attachment at age 1 effected school readiness at age 6. Effortful control at age 1 effected school readiness at age 6. Second, effortful control at age 1 mediated the effect of mother-child attachment at age 1 in relation to school readiness at age 6. Conclusion/Implications: Mother-child attachment at age 1 affects school readiness at age 6, and toddlers' effortful control at age 1 mediates the relationship between mother-child attachment in relation to school readiness at age 6.
