  • Under an open transmission access, the generation dispatch is determined by the bidding process of market participants. Congestion occurs when the dispatch would result in the violation of operational constraints. Congestion problem is formulated and solved by OPF(optimal power flow) calculation. The objective functions in OPF are given as quadratic cost functions or piecewise linear functions of bidding functions. In this study, the optimization technique of generation dispatch is presented for the combination of two types of quadratic and linear cost functions.

  • Let f, g, h, k : $\mathbb{R}^n{\rightarrow}\mathbb{C}$ be locally integrable functions. We deal with the $L^{\infty}$-version of the Hyers-Ulam stability of the quadratic functional inequality and the Pexiderized quadratic functional inequality $${\parallel}f(x + y) + f(x - y) -2f(x) - 2f(y){\parallel}_{L^{\infty}(\mathbb{R}^n)}\leq\varepsilon$$ $${\parallel}f(x + y) + g(x - y) -2h(x) - 2f(y){\parallel}_{L^{\infty}(\mathbb{R}^n)}\leq\varepsilon$$ based on the concept of linear functionals on the space of smooth functions with compact support.

  • In this paper, we establish an asymptotic formula for mean value of $L^{(k)}({\frac{1}{2}},\;{\chi}_P)$ averaging over ℙ2g+1 and over ℙ2g+2 as g → ∞ in odd characteristic. We also give an asymptotic formula for mean value of $L^{(k)}({\frac{1}{2}},\;{\chi}_u)$ averaging over 𝓘g+1 and over 𝓕g+1 as g → ∞ in even characteristic.

  • In this paper we prove an even characteristic analogue of the result of Andrade on lower bounds for moment of quadratic Dirichlet L-functions in odd characteristic. We establish lower bounds for the moments of Dirichlet L-functions of characters defined by Hasse symbols in even characteristic.

  • A class invariant is the value of a modular function that generates a ring class field of an imaginary quadratic number field such as the singular moduli of level 1. In this paper, using Shimura Reciprocity Law, we compute the Galois actions of some class invariants from the generalized Weber functions $\mathfrak{g}_0,\mathfrak{g}_1,\mathfrak{g}_2$ and $\mathfrak{g}_3$ over quadratic number fields with discriminant $D{\equiv}1$ (mod 12).

  • This paper suggests a new methodology of evolutionary computations - an Adaptive Evolutionary Algorithm (AEA) for solving the Economic Load Dispatch (ELD) problem which has piecewise quadratic cost functions and prohibited operating zones with many local minima. AEA uses a genetic algorithm (GA) and an evolution strategy (ES) in an adaptive manner in order to take merits of two different evolutionary computations: global search capability of GA and local search capability of ES. In the reproduction procedure, proportions of the population by GA and the population by ES are adaptively modulated according to the fitness. Case studies illustrate the superiority of the proposed methods to existing conventional methods in power generation cost and computation time. The results demonstrate that the AEA can be applied successfully in the solution of ELD with piecewise quadratic cost functions and prohibited operating zones

  • By a change of variables we obtain new $y$-coordinates of elliptic curves. Utilizing these $y$-coordinates as meromorphic modular functions, together with the elliptic modular function, we generate the fields of meromorphic modular functions. Furthermore, by means of the special values of the $y$-coordinates, we construct the ray class fields over imaginary quadratic fields as well as normal bases of these ray class fields.

  • Recently, rotation symmetric Boolean functions have attracted attention since they are suitable for fast evaluation and show good cryptographic properties. For example, important problems in coding theory were settled by searching the desired functions in the rotation symmetric function space. Moreover, they are applied to designing fast hashing algorithms. On the other hand, for some homogeneous rotation symmetric quadratic functions of simple structure, the exact formulas for their Hamming weights and nonlinearity were found[2,8]. Very recently, more formulations were carried out for much broader class of the functions[6]. In this paper, we make a further improvement by deriving the formula for the Hamming weight of quadratic rotation symmetric functions containing linear terms.

  • We use the fixed alternative theorem to establish Hyers-Ulam-Rassias stability of the quadratic functional equation where functions map a linear space into a complete quasi p-normed space. Moreover, we will show that the continuity behavior of an approximately quadratic mapping, which is controlled by a suitable continuous function, implies the continuity of a unique quadratic function, which is a good approximation to the mapping. We also give a few applications of our results in some special cases.
