Objective: The purpose of this study was conducted to systematic review about assessment tools for Activities of Daily Living (ADL) for stroke patients. Methods: Studies tools was administered by using four electronic databases (Pubmed, Embase, Cochrane and NDSL). For the main key words,"stroke AND activities of daily living AND occupational therapy AND assessment OR evaluation OR measurement"was used. We analyzed the types and frequency of evaluation tools. In addition, the evaluation tools for activities and participation were classified based on the classification criteria of International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF). Results: In this study, 111 studies were analyzed and 30 assessment tools were identified. As the number of studies on stroke patients has been increased recently, the types and frequency of evaluation tools have been also increased. The most commonly used evaluation tools were Functional Independence Measure (FIM), Barthel Index (BI) and Canadian Occupational Performance Measure (COPM). In addition, according to classification based on ICF, we found that the types of assessment tools which assess participation were few. Conclusion: Although there were many kinds of assessment tools, the types of evaluation tools which were used in the research or field were very limited. Using various assessment tools, more research should be conducted to support evidence-based occupational therapy. Evaluation tools for participation also should be developed.

The aim of this study was to collect and analyze the clinical studies of traditional herbal medicine and acupuncture treatments for colorectal cancer patients searched in Pubmed and Cochrane library in English. We collected the clinical studies, including randomized controlled trial, case control study and cohort study, in the PubMed and Cochrane library using keywords 'Colorectal Cancer', 'Korean Medicine', 'Traditional Chinese Medicine', 'Kampo' and 'Acupuncture'. Then we analyzed them according to the objective of the therapy, i.e. improving therapy prognosis, reducing chemotherapy's adverse event and reducing operational adverse event. In case RCT, we evaluate the quality of the study with jadad scale. Total 18 studies were selected. There were 3 studies about improving therapy prognosis, 6 studies about reducing chemotherapy's adverse event and 9 studies about reducing operational adverse event. Traditional medicine might improve therapy prognosis in terms of the survival rate, relapse/metastasis rate, quality of life and immune function. The specific herbal formula, 'Goshajinkigan' might not be successful about reducing chemotherapy's adverse event, peripheral neurotoxicity. 'Hangeshanshinto' might reduce the duration of oral mucositis but it is not clear to reduce the incidence of that. 'PHY906' might reduce the incidence of diarrhea. Acupuncture might reduce operational adverse event such as gastrointestinal dysfunction and pain. And 'Daikenchuto' might not be successful in reducing operational adverse event, gastrointestinal dysfunction. Further studies are needed to clarify the efficacy of traditional herbal medicine and acupuncture for colorectal cancer patients.

Many researches have been published about the numerous factors related to the chewing ability of implant prosthesis. Most respective studies have concluded that the chewing ability of implant prosthesis is mostly fine compared to other type of prosthesis. However, some patients are not satisfied with their chewing ability of implant prosthesis. Therefore the neurologic factor, one of the factors related to dissatisfaction of chewing ability was reviewed in this study to understand the mechanism of action of mastication. Data was searched using the keywords; 'implant chewing ability, masticatory ability' in Pubmed database and reviewed. Definitions of chewing ability, factors of chewing ability are reviewed and the neurologic factor, one of the factors influencing on chewing ability, is reviewed. Mechanoreceptor of Periodontal ligament(PDL) is providing the mastication information to brainstem. Due to the absence of mechanoreceptions of PDL in implant, masticatory ability is decreased especially when chewing hard food. Masticatory muscles and mechanoreceptor in TMD may compensate the lack of mechanoreceptor of PDL in implants. Furthermore sensitivity of nerve fiber around peri-implant tissues may support the mechanoreception and sensory reaction in the implant mastication. However, further studies should be conducted to prove the relationships between neurologic factors and mastication.

Objective : The purpose of this article is to study the effectiveness of a group occupational therapy for children via systematic review, and to provide clinical evidences. Methods : The systematic review initially included articles in Pubmed, Ovid, RISS, KISS, and DBpia, published until 2014. Total 14 articles have been chosen, using different keyword of each domestic/foreign studies. Selected articles were divided depending on the level of evidence, and eventually been organized into group PICO (Patient, Intervention, Comparison, Outcome). Results : The results indicated that there are more diagnosed children than normal in participants and especially children with sensory integration disorder (28.6%) appeared to be the most common. In intervention, group sensory integrative intervention had the largest frequency, and instruments measuring social skills were used most for analyzing the intervention results. The effectiveness of interventions showing statistically significant results were 40.7% of Total. Conclusion : Group occupational therapy for children should be provided to various diagnosis with widely better quality of interventions providing the enough support for the evidence level.

Objective: The aim of this study was to identify the driving rehabilitation for on-road driving through a systematic review. Methods: We systematically examined papers published in journals from December 2014 to January 2015, using CINAH, Embase, Pubmed, PsycINFO, and The Cochrane Library. Eventually, 15 studies were included in the analyses. Results: The evidence of 15 studies was from levels I, III, and V. The subjects included in the analyses were patients with stroke(40.0%), older driver(20.0%), traumatic brain injury(20.0%), acquired brain injury(13.3%) and spinal cord injury(6.7%). The intervention types were driving simulator training(53.3%), cognitive skills training(26.6%), off-road educational training(6.7%), adaptation of assistive device(6.7%), and behind-the-wheel training(6.7%). The effects of driving rehabilitation were different depending on the types of intervention. However, driving simulator training showed significant improvement of on-road assessments in all studies included this study. Conclusions: Driving rehabilitation for on-road driving has been used in various types. Specially, the effect of the driving simulator training has been proved by many studies. Future studies are to be required with client from a range of diagnostic groups to establish evidence-based interventions and determine their effectiveness in improving on-road driving.
Background: There haven't been any papers that have analyzed the recent trends in the changing attitudes and results of Korean thoracic and cardiovascular surgeons who submit scientific papers to the major cardiothoracic journals. Material and Method: I analyzed the original articles that were published in the major cardiothoracic surgery journals from 1995 to 2008 by Korean thoracic and cardiovascular surgeons. The data was retrieved from the internet websites of Pubmed, three major international SCI (Science Citation Index) journals and the Korean Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery. I then analyzed the data according to the chronological year, the subjects and the subspecialties. Result: The total number of original articles in the three international journals was 14,629. Among them, the number of articles written by Korean scientists was 157 (1.07%). A sharp increase was identified from 28 articles out of 7,674 articles (0.36%) prior to 2002, to 129 articles out of 6,955 articles (1.83%) after 2003. On the other hand, the annual number of articles in the Korean Journal was markedly decreased from 126.8 articles by 1999 to 80.0 articles after 2000. The annual number of articles in the Korean Journal was also decreased from 58.8% by 1999 to 48.3% after 2000. Conclusion: There was an observed increase in submitting articles to the international SCI journals after 2000 rather than to the Korean journal. The proportion of original articles in the Korean journal is also decreasing. I think we need to pay special attention to improve the quality and quantity of articles published in the Korean journal.
Objectives : Though there were many clinical studies of acupuncture effects they didn't have appropriate control group or use another therapy for control group. So, we didn't say it was true acupuncture effect, though subjects in clinical study improved. Recently several sham needles for control group were developed and validated. This study aimed at summarizing the validation studies of these needles and evaluating the control group of the acupuncture clinical study. Methods : Computerized literature searches were performed using 'acupuncture' and 'placebo or sham' with a limitation of the results to RCTs in Pubmed, Sciencedirect, NDSL, KISS, RISS. Data were extracted regarding study design, sample size, acupuncture point, stimulation form, credibility testing. And We have examined 106 acupuncture clinical studies published by Pubmed from January 1, 2005 to April 30, 2008. Data were extracted author's country, subject of study, type of study groups, type of control groups, type of blinding, difference between the results in the control groups. Results : Streitberger's placebo needle, Fink's sham needle, Park sham needle, Kim sham needle were developed. They were validated at domestic and abroad. But the results were deviation depending on the each of the researcher. They has shown that sample, acupuncture points, experiences or knowledge of acupuncture dependent on the results. Recent three years, acupuncture clinical trial had different results. Significant differences between Study group and control group emerged from using other therapy or non-treatment for control group. Many study has no significant differences using sham acupuncture for control groups. Conclusions : Acupuncture clinical studies need to meet several requirements. First of all, they require the basics of randomized controlled clinical studies such as blinding and the accurate implementation and description of randomization. And also need to research the unique circumstances of these studies such as the development of sham acupuncture and blinding method which differs from other clinical trials.

This study analyzed the intervention program of smartphone addiction. The literature used for this research analysis was published from Jan. 2010 to Jul. 2019. The foreign literature was searched for in 'Pubmed and Science Direct', and the domestic literature was found in 'RISS, Keris, and KISS'. A total of 310 studies were found and analyzed on the basis of our inclusion and exclusion criteria. Finally, 16 theses were analyzed. Thirteen theses (81%) meet the required evidence level, and three theses (19%) had level III. As a result of analysis on the intervention methods of smartphone addiction, art therapy was found in 6 theses (37.5%), exercise therapy in four theses (25.0%), and cognitive behavior therapy in three theses (18.6%). After the intervention of most of the programs, there were reduced withdrawal symptoms of smartphone addiction, reduced negative feelings like depression, anxiety, and impulsiveness, and increased positive feelings like self-esteem. A smartphone addiction evaluation scale was mostly applied in terms of the evaluated items, along with psychological evaluation. These studies are expected to be effectively used as intervention tools for treating smartphone addiction.
Objective : To investigate the current researches which identify the improvement of bilateral coordination skill of children with hemiplegic cerebral palsy after bimanual intensive training. Methods : We systematically examined papers published in journals from 2004 to 2014, using RISS, Pubmed. Total 6 studies were included in the analyses. Result : All of the selected 6 studies were foreign papers, and the Pedro score was 5 or more. Among various interventions, modified CIMT designs were the most. The primary outcome measure tools are AHA and JTTHF for evaluating bilateral coordination and hand functions, and QUEST, ABILHAND-Kids, COPM, GAS, PEDI, 3-D movement kinematics were used for evaluating various aspects of effectiveness of interventions. Conclusion : Through this systematic review, it is identified that bilateral intensive training provides positive effects to not only hand functions but also bilateral coordination. Furthermore, it also provided supports to participate in ADL requiring bilateral coordination. These results will provides evidence concerning the effectiveness of BIT for children with hemiplegic cerebral palsy.
