The Effects of App Programing Education Using m-Bizmaker on Creative Problem Solving Ability (m-Bizmaker를 활용한 앱 프로그래밍 교육이 창의적 문제해결력에 미치는 영향)

  • This study aims to suggest app programming education plan by analyzing the effects of app programming education using m-bizmaker on the creative problem solving ability in specialized high school students. Currently, The South Korean government is preparing to conduct SW education in primary and secondary schools. Developing smartphone apps that are familiar to students can be seen as a very effective tool of SW educational measures. In general, app development can only be achieved through specialized training on how to use the app programming language. So, many students think the app programming is difficult areas before creating apps because tired of learning how to an app programming language. As a result of applying app programming education using m-Bizmaker, which is one of the app authoring tools, to the class, it is desirable as an app programming education plan. And according to survey results, it has been proved that the app programming education plan using m-Bizmaker is effective to improve creative problem solving ability.

An Algorithm for Optimizing over the Efficient Set of a Bicriterion Linear Programming

  • In this paper a face optimization algorithm is developed for solving the problem (P) of optimizing a linear function over the set of efficient solution of a bicriterion linear program. We show that problem (P) can arise in a variety of practical situations. Since the efficient set is in general a nonoconvex set, problem (P) can be classified as a global optimization problem. The algorithm for solving problem (P) is guaranteed to find an exact optimal or almost exact optimal solution for the problem in a finite number of iterations. The algorithm can be easily implemented using only linear programming method.

  • The main problem in stereo vision is to find corresponding points in left and right image known as correspondence problem. Once correspondences determined, the depth information of those points are easily computed form the pairs of points in both image. In this paper, dynamic programming considering half-occluded region is used fer solving correspondence problem.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop and validate a general-purpose evaluation tool and to analyze their applicability in problem solving programming education for college students of teacher training college. For this purpose, we have redefined the area of computational thinking and detail elements from the viewpoint of problem solving programming, and developed general-purpose computational thinking scale to evaluate them. The reliability and validity were analyzed by applying the evaluation tool developed for the actual college students of teacher training college. Through this study, it was confirmed that the a general-purpose evaluation tool developed in this study can be used as a tool to computational thinking assessment and can be generalized.

  • This paper propose to use a new educational programming language, Scratch, to help students' programming study. For this purpose, a course has been developed which consists of (1) strategies to motivate students and (2) Creative Problem Solving (CPS) teaching model to improve their problem solving abilities. We experimented the course with sixth-grade elementary students for 4 weeks and we could observe that the Scratch programming learning helps motivating students and improving their problem solving abilities. Based on this observation, we believe that Scratch programming can be an alternative for current programming education in elementary schools.

  • Many researches indicate that programming learning could help improve problem solving skills through algorithmic thinking. But in general, programming learning has been focused on programming language features and it also gave a heavy cognitive load to learners. Therefore, this paper proposes a programming activity process to improve novice programming learners' algorithmic thinking efficiently. An experiment was performed to measure the effectiveness of the proposed programming activity process. After the experiment, the learners' perception on programming was shown to be changed, to effective activity in improving problem solving.

  • In this study, experiment was carried out on the 37 experiment group in order to investigate the effect of programming learning based on the CPS on the creative problem solving of elementary school students. Programming learning program based on the CPS, Dolittle, and creative problem solving checklist were used as research tools. Study procedures were followed by pre-test, experimental process, and post-test in order and the data processing was performed by paired sample t-test. The results show that programming learning based on the CPS has a positive effect on the creative problem solving(from 3.07 to 3.39), divergent thinking(from 2.94 to 3.14), critical and logical thinking(from 3.13 to 3.81), and motivational factors(from 3.12 to 3.39).

  • Metacognition is defined to be 'thinking about thinking' and 'knowing what we know and what we don't know'. It was verified that the metacognitive abilities of high school students can be improved via instruction. The purpose of this article is to investigate a new method for activating the metacognitive abilities that play a key role in the Mathematical Problem Solving Process(MPSP). Hyunsung participated in the MPSP using Visual Basic Programming. He actively participated in the MPSP. There are sufficient evidences about activating the metacognitive abilities via the activity processes and interviews. In solving mathematical problems, he had basic metacognitive abilities in the stage of understanding mathematical problems; through the experiments, he further developed his metacognitive abilities and successfully transferred them to general mathematical problem solving.

  • In this paper a fuzzy linear programming problem is presented. Then using the concept of comparison of fuzzy numbers, by the aid of the Mellin transform, we introduce a method for solving this problem.
