Spatial Selectivity Estimation Using Wavelet

  • Selectivity estimation of queries not only provides useful information to the query processing optimization but also may give users with a preview of processing results. In this paper, we investigate the problem of selectivity estimation in the context of a spatial dataset. Although several techniques have been proposed in the literature to estimate spatial query result sizes, most of those techniques still have some drawback in the case that a large amount of memory is required to retain accurate selectivity. To eliminate the drawback of estimation techniques in previous works, we propose a new method called MW Histogram. Our method is based on two techniques: (a) MinSkew partitioning algorithm that processes skewed spatial datasets efficiently (b) Wavelet transformation which compression effect is proven. We evaluate our method via real datasets. With the experimental result, we prove that the MW Histogram has the ability of providing estimates with low relative error and retaining the similar estimates even if memory space is small.

섬유패션관련 전시회 참여 실태조사 (An Exploratory Study of Textile and Fashion Trade Show Exhibiting Management)

  • The purpose of this paper was to collect the information of textile and fashion trade show exhibiting such as the exhibition objectives, trade show selection criteria, reasons for not exhibiting, and exhibition performance. The data were collected from textile and fashion companies which participated in the Preview in Daegu or Seoul Fashion Sourcing Fair, or through the Research Company. The results showed that the most heavily weighted factor among reasons for not exhibiting was "high cost" and the most important exhibiting objective was "identifying the need and the preference of potential customers". "The quality and the quantity of sales lead" was ranked highly among exhibiting selection criteria. Also, the future of exhibition industry was also recognized positively and "effective PR and marketing activities" was assigned high importance among services provided by the organizer.

  • The common Knowledge Management System has been constructed to increase the organization's competitiveness based on the objective of support on knowledge activities of individuals. But not many of cases have been success with constructing the magnificent concept of several of knowledge management. This case research is based on the constructed strategies, constructed concept and operating case on Knowledge Management System of Ministry of Maritime Affairs & Fisheries which was selected to the year 2004 outstanding operating organization among the government organization. This case research is suggesting that to have successful knowledge management, needs to have a reliable objective and goals prior to the abducting the Knowledge Management System and should establish the propulsion strategies that meets the organization and the culture. Also, it indicated that all the individuals should forward first in order to move organization and the system further more based of consider the constructed content, activity plan, evaluation and preview which the special feature of Knowledge Management System has.

  • The purpose of this study is to preview artistic presentation, factors of designing and ornamentation, to provide useful information to the wedding dress industry in developing consumer-oriented design of wedding dress. Also, this study is to investigate relativity between individual characteristics, such as demographic character and body figures, and preference of consumers, in order to learn if there is any pattern of consumers decision making, and to help consumers by giving tips for their wedding dress shopping. According to this study, I can see that when modern South-Korean adult women choose their wedding dress, they consider many factors just like silhouette, detail, fabric material and so on, then they select their own best dress by grasping their body characteristics.

  • Gap and thickness difference information between blanks are often necessary for tailored blank welding quality evaluation , optimum welding parameters selection and evaluation of shearing machine, blink allocation device accuracy and clamping device. We develope 3D vision system and camera unit using structured lighting for this purpose. A simple ar d efficient scheme for gap and thickness feature recognition Is developed as well as measurements. Experimental results shows this system measuring accuracy is 10 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ and 16${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ for gap and thickness difference respectively The data are expexed to be useful for preview gap control.

  • 최근 몰입도가 높은 가시화 기법 중 하나인 3차원 입체영상에 관심이 높아지고 있다. 그러나 일반적인 2차원 영상과는 달리 3차원 입체 영상은 3차원의 기하정보가 존재해야만 영상 생성이 가능하다. 3차원 기하정보가 존재하지 않는 2차원 영상을 이용한 입체 영상 저작이 매우 어렵다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 영상 기반 모델링 기법을 이용한 한 장의 실사 영상으로부터 3차원 입체 영상 생성하기 위한 3차원 입체 영상 저작 시스템을 제안한다. 제안한 시스템은 Adobe Photoshop(R)의 Plug-in형태로 개발함으로써 범용성과 확장성을 고려하였고 몰입감이 높은 입체 영상의 시점을 결정하기 위한 대화식 3차원 입체 영상 미리 보기 기능을 제공한다.

A Study on Relationship between Learning participation and Learning Outcomes in Programming Courses

  • The purpose of the study is to identify the influence of learning participation on learning outcomes in programming courses. Based on the literature review, learning participation is composed of three sub components: participation in preview, class, and review. Learning outcomes are categorized by academic achievement, learning satisfaction, and learning motivation. A survey was conducted with 267 students enrolled in programming courses from three IT departments at Myongji College. Findings revealed that participation in review and participation in class predicted all sub components of learning outcomes. Participation in review was found to have a greater effect on learners' achievement and participation in class was found to have a greater impact on learning satisfaction and motivation. However, the results showed that participation in class was not an influential factor for learning outcomes. Implications for enhancing learning participation and suggestions for future research are also discussed.

스마트폰에서 효과적인 장문 인증 가이드라인 이미지 (Effective Palm Print Authentication Guideline Image with Smart Phone)

  • 오늘 날 얼굴, 지문 또는 장문(掌紋)과 같은 생체 정보를 이용하여 사용자를 등록하고 인증하는 과정이 스마트폰을 통해 활발히 이루어지고 있다. 그 중 스마트폰의 카메라 기능을 이용해 생체 정보를 촬영 시, 일반적인 경우 카메라 프리뷰 화면에 특정 이미지를 오버레이 함으로써 가이드라인을 제시하고, 사용자로 하여금 동일한 위치에서 사진을 촬영하도록 유도하고 있다. 이 논문에서는 스마트폰을 통해 장문을 이미지로서 사용자를 등록 및 인증시에 사용할 수 있는 가이드라인 이미지를 제시하며, 해당 가이드라인 이미지를 적용한 사용자 실험을 통해 활용가능성에 대하여 알아본다.

  • 무인 자율 주행 차량이 야지 환경에서 안전하게 주행하기 위해서는 차량의 주행 안정성이 반드시 고려되어야 한다. 본 논문에서는 실시간 주행 안정성 분석을 위한 자율 주행 시뮬레이션에 적용되는 경로 추종 제어기를 제시한다. 경로 추종 제어기는 Preview 거리를 사용하여 차량의 지향 각을 제어하고, 요 모멘트 관측기로부터 추정된 외란 모멘트를 보상하여 지향 각 오차와 횡 방향 거리 오차를 감소시킨다. 곡선 경로에서는 곡률을 이용하여 차량의 주행 속도를 결정한다. 대상 차량은 6X6 스키드 조향 차량이기 때문에 6개의 휠에 서로 다른 구동력을 분배하는 방법을 사용하여 주어진 경로를 주행한다. ADAMS에서 모델링 된 차량을 MATLAB과 연동시켜 시뮬레이션하고, 경로 추종 제어기 성능을 검증하였다.

  • Welding systems cannot adapt to changes in the joint geometry which may occur due to a variety of reason. Automatic seam tracking technigue is essential to adjust the welding torch position in real time as it moves along the seam. Automatic tracking system must keep the welding speed constant unrelation to the change of the welding path. Therefore, the information from the laser displacement sensor must be converted into the input to operate the X-Y table and to rotate the desired torch position by proposed algorithm. In this research, laser displacement sensor is used as a seam finder in the automatic tracking system. X-Y moving table manipulated by ac servo motor controls the position and velocity of the torch-and-sensor part. DC motor controls the position and velocity of the torch. X-Y table controls the position of sensor and relative position of torch is controlled by dc motor which is mounted at sensor-and-torch part. Sensor is always ahead of torch to preview the weld line. From the experimental results, we could see the possiblity that the laser displacement sensor can be used as a seam finder in welding process and that the seam tracking system controlled by proposed algorithm is well done.
