Predictive filter theory proposed recently can be characterized by inherent advantages of estimating modelling error and overcoming the disadvantage of the Kalman filter theory. A one-step ahead error is minimized to produce optimized filter performance in the form of the predictive filter. The main advantage of this filter lies in the ability to estimate both state vector and system model error. In this paper, attitude estimation results based upon the predictive filter theory is addressed. Mathematical formulation for estimating bias signal is peformed by using the predictive filter theory, and attitude estimation based upon vector observation is presented. From the results of this study, the potential applicability of the predictive filter is highlighted.

Most of the existing statistical models of software manpower profile are based on the assumptions of the usage and development process. Therefore, there is no universally applicable estimation and prediction model. To develop a prediction model, this paper suggests the predictive filter as a prediction model for software manpower profile. Firs of all, we investigate the software manpower profile and we suggest the input-output of predictive filter and method for parameter determination. Then, its usefulness is empirically verified by analyzing the actual data obtained from the software projects. Based on the average relative prediction error and Pred(0.25), the suggested predictive filter is compared with other well-known statistical estimation models. As a result, the predictive filter generally has a simple structure and on the other hand, it adapts the software manpower profile very well.
A parallel active power filter is designed and implemented to compensate for undesired current harmonics generated by a nonlinear load. The filter works based on PWM strategy and control signal is generated using a model predictive controller. To evaluate the achievements, a PI controller is also designed and implemented. Experimental results indicate about 50% increase in the efficiency over PI controller.
In this paper, a predictive direct power control (DPC) method based on a Kalman filter is presented for three-phase pulse-width modulation (PWM) rectifiers to improve the performance of rectifiers with source voltages that are distorted with harmonic components. This method can eliminate the most significant harmonic components of the source voltage using a Kalman filter algorithm. In the process of predicting the future real and reactive power to select an optimal voltage vector in the predictive DPC, the proposed method utilizes source voltages filtered by a Kalman filter, which can mitigate the adverse effects of distorted source voltages on control performance. As a result, the quality of the source currents synthesized using the PWM rectifier is improved, and the total harmonic distortion (THD) values are reduced, even under distorted source voltages.
Kalman Filter application to model predictive control is discussed. Most of refinery and petrochemical processes contain uncertainties in their output. Simplified state estimation algorithm is merged to model predictive control to improve overall control accuracy.

Almost all existing software reliability models are based on the assumptions of he software usage and software failure process. There, therefore, is no universally applicable software reliability model. To develop a universal software reliability model this paper suggests the predictive filter as a general software reliability prediction model for time domain failure data. Its usefulness is empirically verified by analyzing the failure datasets obtained from 14 different software projects. Based on the average relative prediction error, the suggested predictive filter is compared with other well-known neural network models and statistical software reliability growth models. Experimental results show that the predictive filter generally results in a simple model and adapts well across different software projects.
This study presented a model predictive tracking control algorithm of autonomous truck based on object state estimation using extended Kalman filter. To design the model, the 1-layer laser scanner was used to estimate position and velocity of the object using extended Kalman filter. Based on these estimations, the desired linear path for object tracking was computed. The lateral and yaw angle errors were computed using the computed linear path and relative positions of the truck. The computed errors were used in the model predictive control algorithm to compute the optimal steering angle for object tracking. The performance evaluation was conducted on Matlab/Simulink environments using planar truck model and actual point data obtained from laser scanner. The evaluation results showed that the tracking control algorithm developed in this study can track the object reasonably based on the model predictive control algorithm based on the estimated states.
In this paper, a three-phase active power filter using voltage- source PWM converter is designed to eliminate the harmonics and compensate the reactive power in the ac side. The predictive current control method is adopted, which provides constant switching frequency and low current ripple but has inherently one sampling error between the command and the actual current. Here we propose the algorithm which corrects this delay time. The converter voltage obtained from this current control can be accomplished by the space vector modulation method at a voltage-type converter. All control sequences of active filter is executed by a DSP which is designed to calculate floating points at very hight speed. Finally, the validity of this filter using the predictive current control method is demonstrated through experimental results.
Model Predictive Control (MPC) is an advanced control approach that uses the current states of the system model to predict its future behavior. In this article, according to the seismic dynamics of structural systems, the Predictive Functional Control (PFC) method is used to solve the control problem. Although conventional PFC is an efficient control method, its performance may be impaired due to problems such as uncertainty in the structure of state sensors and process equations, as well as actuator saturation. Therefore, it requires the utilization of appropriate estimation algorithms in order to accurately evaluate responses and implement actuator saturation. Accordingly, an extended PFC is presented based on the H-ifinity (H∞) filter (HPFC) while considering simultaneously the saturation actuator. Accordingly, an extended PFC is presented based on the H-ifinity (H∞) filter (HPFC) while considering the saturation actuator. Thus, the structural responses are formulated by two estimation models using the H∞ filter. First, the H∞ filter estimates responses using a performance bound (𝜃). Second, the H∞ filter is converted into a Kalman filter in a special case by considering the 𝜃 equal to zero. Therefore, the scheme based on the Kalman filter (KPFC) is considered a comparative model. The proposed method is evaluated through numerical studies on a building equipped with an Active Tuned Mass Damper (ATMD) under near and far-field earthquakes. Finally, HPFC is compared with classical (CPFC) and comparative (KPFC) schemes. The results show that HPFC has an acceptable efficiency in boosting the accuracy of CPFC and KPFC approaches under earthquakes, as well as maintaining a descending trend in structural responses.

This paper presents a model predictive control for shunt active power filters in synchronous reference frame using space vector pulse-width modulation (SVPWM). The three phase load currents are transformed into synchronous rotating reference frame in order to reduce the order of the control system. The proposed current controller calculates reference current command for harmonic current components in synchronous frame. The fundamental load current components are transformed into dc components revealing only the harmonics. The predictive current controller will add robustness and fast compensation to generate commands to the SVPWM which minimizes switching frequency while maintaining fast harmonic compensation. By using the model predictive control, the optimal switching state to be applied to the next sampling time is selected. The filter current contains only the harmonic components, which are the reference compensating currents. In this method the supply current will be equal to the fundamental component of load current and a part of the current at fundamental frequency for losses of the inverter. Mathematical analysis and the feasibility of the suggested approach are verified through simulation results under steady state and transient conditions for non-linear load. The effectiveness of the proposed controller is confirmed through experimental validation.
