In general mechanical servo systems, friction deteriorates the performance of controllers by its nonlinear characteristics. Especially, friction phenomenon causes steady-state tracking errors and limit cycles in position and velocity control systems, even though gains of controllers are tuned well in linear system model. Even if sensor is used higher accuracy level, it is difficult to improve tracking performance of the position to the same level with a general control method such as PID type. Therefore, many friction models were proposed and compensation methods have been researched actively. In this paper, we consider that the variation of mover's mass is various by loading and unloading. The normal force variation occurs by it and other parameters. Therefore, the proposed control system is composed of main position controller and a friction compensator. A parameter estimator for a nonlinear friction model is designed by adaptive control law and adaptive backstopping control method.

It has been studied for DGPS/INS(Differential Global Positioning System/Inertial Navigation System) to offer the more precise and reliable navigation data with the aviation industry development. The flight performance evaluation of navigation system is very significant because the reliability of navigation data directly affect the safety of aircraft. Especially, the high-level navigation system, as DGPS/INS, need more precise flight performance evaluation method. The performance analysis is performed by comparing between the DGPS/INS navigation data and reference trajectory which is more precise than DGPS/INS. The GPS receiver, which is capable of post-processed CDGPS(Carrier-phase DGPS) method, can be used as reference system. Generally, the DGPS/INS is estimated the CG(Center of Gravity) point of aircraft while the reference system is output the position of GPS antenna which is mounted on the outside of aircraft. For this reason, estimated error between DGPS/INS and reference system will include the error due to lever arm. In order to more precise performance evaluation, it is needed to compensate the lever arm. This paper presents procedure and result of flight test which includes lever arm compensation in order to verify reliability and performance of DGPS/INS more precisely.

This paper presents implementation of localization system using UWB (Ultra-Wide Band) sensors and its experimental results along with development of context-aware services. In order for precise measurement of position, we experimented various conditions of pitch angles, yaw angles, number of sensors, height of tags along with measuring errors at each installation. As an application examples of the location tracking system, we developed an intelligent health training management system based on context-aware technology. The system provides appropriate training schedule to a trainee by recognizing position of the trainee and current status of gymnastic equipments and note the usage of the equipment through a personal digital assistant (PDA). Error compensation on position data and moving direction of the trainee was necessary for context-aware service. Hence, we proposed an error compensation algorithm using velocity of the trainee. Experimental results showed that proposed algorithm had made error data reduce by 30% comparing with the data without applying the algorithm.
A new prediction scheme has been proposed for the robust teleoperation in a non-visible environment. The positioning error caused by the time delay in the non-visible environment has been compensated for by the Smith predictor and the sensory data have been estimated by the Grey model. The Smith predictor is effective for the compensation of the positioning error caused by the time delay with a precise system model. Therefore the dynamic model of a mobile robot has been used in this research. To minimize the unstable and erroneous states caused by the time delay, the estimated sensor data have been sent to the operator. Through simulations, the possibility of compensating the errors caused by the time delay has been verified using the Smith predictor. Also the estimation reliability of the measurement data has been demonstrated. Robust teleoperations in a non-visible environment have been performed with a mobile robot to avoid the obstacles effective to go to the target position by the proposed prediction scheme which combines the Smith predictor and the Grey model. Even though the human operator is involved in the teleoperation loop, the compensation effects have been clearly demonstrated.

Recently, a permanent magnet synchronous motor of middle and small-capacity has high torque, high precision control and acceleration / deceleration characteristics. But existing control has several problems that include unpredictable disturbances and parameter changes in the high accuracy and rigidity control industry or nonlinear dynamic characteristics not considered in the driving part. In addition, in the drive method for the control of low-vibration and high-precision, the process of connecting the permanent magnet synchronous motor and the load may cause the response characteristic of the system to become very unstable, to cause vibration, and to overload the system. In order to solve these problems, various studies such as adaptive control, optimal control, robust control and artificial neural network have been actively conducted. In this paper, an incremental encoder of the permanent magnet synchronous motor is used to detect the position of the rotor. And the position of the detected rotor is used for low vibration and high precision position control. As the controller, we propose augmented state feedback control with a speed observer and first order deadbeat disturbance observer. The augmented state feedback controller performs control that the position of the rotor reaches the reference position quickly and precisely. The addition of the speed observer to this augmented state feedback controller compensates for the drop in speed response characteristics by using the previously calculated speed value for the control. The first order deadbeat disturbance observer performs control to reduce the vibration of the motor by compensating for the vibrating component or disturbance that the mechanism has. Since the deadbeat disturbance observer has a characteristic of being vulnerable to noise, it is supplemented by moving average filter method to reduce the influence of the noise. Thus, the new controller with the first order deadbeat disturbance observer can perform more robustness and precise the position control for the influence of large inertial load and natural frequency. The simulation stability and efficiency has been obtained through C language and Matlab Simulink. In addition, the experiment of actual 2.5[kW] permanent magnet synchronous motor was verified.
Pneumatic actuators are widely used in a variety of hazardous working environments. Any process that involves pneumatic actuation is also recognized as "eco-friendly". In most cases, applications of pneumatic actuators require only point-to-point control. In recent years, research efforts have been directed toward achieving precise position tracking control. In this study, a tracking position control method is proposed and experimentally evaluated for a linear positioning system. The positioning system is composed of a pneumatic actuator and a 3-port proportional valve. The proposed controller has an inner pressure control loop and an outer position control loop. A PID controller with feedback linearization is used in the pressure control loop to nullify the nonlinearity arising from the compressibility of the air. The position controller is also a PID controller augmented with the friction compensation by a neural network. Experimental results indicate that the proposed controller significantly improves the tracking performance.rformance.
A new control method for precision robust speed control of a PMSM(Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor) using load torque observer is presented. With this system we can obtain more reliable eye moving singal(nystagmus) Until now rotating chair system which is called 2D-optokinetic stimulator is used to make dizzincess. However an inclined rotating chair system witch is 3D-optokinetic stimulator is needed to obtain the precise dizziness data. This 3D-optokinetic sitimulator include unbalanced load aused by unbalanced center of mass. For this case new compensation method is considered to obtain robust speed control using load torque observer. To reduce the effect of this disturbance we can use dead-beat observer which has high gain. The application of the load torque observer is published in [1] for position control. A problem of using speed information such as amplifying effect of noise is reduce by moving average process. The experimental results are depicted in this paper to show the effect of this proposed algorithm.
This paper describes a development of a fiber optic common-path optical coherence tomography (OCT) based imaging and guided system that possess ability to reliably identify optically transparent targets that are on the micron scale; ability to maintain a precise and safe position from the target; ability to provide spectroscopic imaging; ability to imaging biological target in 3-D. The system is based on a high resolution fiber optic Common-Path OCT (CP-OCT) that can be integrated into various mini-probes and tools. The system is capable of obtaining >70K A-scan per second with a resolution better than $3\;{\mu}m$. We have demonstrated that the system is capable of one-dimensional real-time depth tracking, tool motion limiting and motion compensation, oxygen-saturation level imaging, and high resolution 3-D images for various biomedical applications.

According to the rapid growth of high speed and precise industry, the application of synchronous motor has been increased. In the application fields, these fast dynamic response is of prime importance. In particular, since the PMLSM(Permanent Magnet Linear Synchronous Motor) has characteristics of high speed, high thrust, it has been used in high-performance servo drive. From these reasons, it is recently used for high precise position control, and machine tool. In this paper, a study of the sliding mode with VSS (Variable Structure System) design for a PMLSM is presented. For fast and precise motion control of PMLSM, the compensation of disturbance and parameter variation is necessary. Hence we eliminate the reaching phase use of VSS that is changed to switching function and vector control using the state observer. And we proposed to sliding mode control algorithm so that realize fast response without overshoot, disturbance and parameter variation.
A numerical formula that presents relationship between a point of a satellite image and its ground position is called a sensor model. For precise geolocation of satellite images, we need an error-free sensor model. However, the sensor model based on GOES ephemeris data has some error, in particular after Image Motion Compensation (IMC) mechanism has been turned off. To solve this problem, we investigated three sensor models: collinearity model, direct linear transform (DLT) model and orbit-based model. We applied matching between GOES images and global coastline database and used successful results as control points. With control points we improved the initial image geolocation accuracy using the three models. We compared results from three sensor models. As a result, we showed that the orbit-based model is a suitable sensor model for precise geolocation of GOES-9 Images.
