This study examines the effects of mindfulness training on job stress, burnout, and teacher efficacy for middle school and high school teachers. For this study, twenty-four middle school and high school teachers were divided into experimental and control groups. Data analysis was performed using a Mixed ANOVA for teacher's job stress, burnout, and teacher efficacy according to pre-training, post-training and delayed post-training periods. As a result, we found support for time interval and between-group interaction effects for all the dependent variables. In order to investigate any delayed effects, a t-test was performed to analyze measurements taken one month after the completion of training period. The delayed post-training results indicated a significant effect between pre and post scores, meaning the program effects were sustained. Therefore, this study indicates that the mindfulness training program implemented in this research is an effective method for preventing job stress and burnout, as well as influencing the efficiency of work performance for middle school and high school teachers.
The purpose of this study was to find the relationship between the leadership type of the chief and the occupational satisfaction of a teacher as well as the desirable type to fullfill the educational purpose of pre-school institutes. The subject of this study were 191 teachers in private pre-school institutes. Halpin's "Leadership Behavior Description Questionnaire" and Paula Jorde Bloom(1989)'s "Early Childhood Job Satisfaction Survey" have been modified and used for this study. The results are as follows: First, the leadership types of the chief teacher is recognizing can be classified into effective leadership, initiating structure, consideration, and ineffective leadership. Second, in regard to the occupational satisfaction of teachers they are satisfied with occupation itself and relationship between people rather than pay, social stability, and the environment of working. Third, the relationship between the leadership types of the chief and the occupational satisfaction shows the meaningful difference and consideration among the leadership types indicates the higher satisfaction of teachers. On the other hand, the type of ineffective leadership shows the lower satisfaction. As a result, the type of leadership of consideration contributes to the satisfaction rather than the types of leadership such as effective, ineffective, and initiating structure.

In this study, a survey was conducted of students in grades 7 through 12, student teachers enrolled in their senior year at teachers' colleges, and science teachers. Subjects were surveyed on their conceptions of phenomenon related with dissolution, saturation, and extraction. The models and analogies used by student teachers and science teachers to explain dissolution were sought. The highest percentage of students thought of dissolution as a phenomenon in which particles broke into the spaces between other particles. The models or analogies used by the highest percentage of science teachers were similar. They generally conceived of dissolution phenomenon through what we call the 'space conception'. A conception of dissolution phenomenon as 'hydration through attraction of solvent and solute' was held by more student teachers than science teachers; there were some differences, however, according to their academic background. The percentage of teachers professing this view decreased when they attempted to explain the process of extraction of matter in a solution after other matter had dissolved or after the solution was cooled, indicating that the 'hydration' conception was not firmly established in the student teachers' cognition. Therefore, it can be inferred that the conceptions of dissolution as 'hydration' were transformed into the conceptions of dissolution as 'space' after teaching dissolution phenomenon as practicing teachers. This finding should be considered in teacher-training courses.
The purpose of this study is to examine pre-service teachers' noticing when evaluating peers' mathematical problem posing tasks. To this end, 46 secondary pre-service teachers were asked to create real-world problems related to permutation and combination and randomly assigned to evaluate peers' problems. As a result, the pre-service teachers were most likely to notice the difficulty of their peers' mathematics problems. In particular, the pre-service teachers tended to notice particular conditions in order to increase the difficulty of a problem. In addition, the pre-service teachers noticed the clarity of a question and its solution, novelty of the problem, the natural connection between real-world contexts and mathematical concepts, and the convergence between mathematical concepts.

In the 2015 revision curriculum, software education must be conducted for 17 hours in elementary school fifth or sixth grade. Pre_service elementary teachers should be able to teach software. In this study, learning factors according to the achievement criteria for software education will be defined for pre-service elementary teachers. Pre-service teachers were taught by learning elements. As a result, the pre_service teachers were able to create teaching and evaluation materials for each learning element. It was also found that the pre-service teachers improved their ability to teach software education in elementary school based on these materials.
In this study, the researcher developed a course integrated mathematical problem posing activities in order to enhance pre-service mathematics teachers' ability to carry out problem posing activities in mathematics classroom, and examined the changes of pre-service mathematics teachers' perceptions about problem posing through the course. The problem posing course developed in this study consisted of three stages: education on the theories regarding problem posing; activities with problem posing; development and implementation of problem posing tasks. According to the results of the questionnaires, interviews, and class journals data analysis, the problem posing experiences provided in this study were very effective in improving pre-service mathematics teachers' understanding of the problem posing strategies and the benefit of problem posing activities to student learning. Particularly, the experience in various problem posing activities and the implementation experience of problem posing provided in the course played a key role in the improvement of pre-service mathematics teachers' understanding of problem posing and PCK.

The purpose of this study is to examine implications of pre-service science teacher training by analyzing science field integration and connection between learning content presented in 'Integrated Science' for high school students based on the 2015 revised science curriculum, and in pre-service science learning materials (textbooks) of the college of education. For this study, the 2015 revised 'Integrated Science' curriculum and 11 types of pre-service science teachers' learning materials related to physics, chemistry, biological science, and earth science were selected. The results were as follows. Most of the learning content presented in the 2015 revised 'Integrated Science' curriculum had integrated two or more science fields. Also, almost all learning content presented in the 2015 revised 'Integrated Science' curriculum were included in pre-service science teachers' education content, with educational content for chemistry introduced at the highest rate. The textbooks for pre-service science teachers had the most learning contents of 'Energy and Environment' domain of 'Integrated Science' for high school students. Accordingly, these results suggest that 'integrated science materials' should be developed for proper the curriculum implementation. Also, training courses for science teachers responsible for 'Integrated Science' are required. Furthermore, a revised curriculum for the college of education and a method to link with certification examinations for secondary school teachers are needed.
In this study, we investigated the variables related to the science teaching efficacy beliefs of pre-service and in-service elementary school teachers. The participants were 176 freshmen and 260 seniors from an university of education and 234 teachers from 25 elementary schools located in Jeonju. Variables concerning pre-service teachers include their sex, career/study tracks (science or non-science), and the number of science courses taken either at high school or at university. Variables concerning in-service teachers include their sex, academic degree, the frequency and type of participation in science in-service training, and their teaching career experience. The Science Teaching Efficacy Beliefs Instrument was used to measure teachers' self-efficacy beliefs. The results indicated that the personal science teaching efficacy belief scores of seniors were significantly lower than those of freshmen and in-service teachers, whereas the science teaching outcome expectancy scores of seniors were significantly higher than those of freshmen. Among variables investigated, sex, career/study track, the number of science courses taken at high school, and the frequency and type of participation in science in-service training were found to significantly influence teachers' science teaching efficacy beliefs.

The purpose of this research is to develop a model of teacher education system in u-Learning age. To achieve the purpose, first, the current teacher education system was analyzed. Second, ubiquitous technologies which could be used in future teacher education system were analyzed. Third, functions of ubiquitous technologies supporting communication between the elements of teacher education system were explored based on the analysis of the technologies. Forth, researchers analyzed pre-service teachers' understanding, needs, and demands for the future teacher education system in u-Learning age. The model of teacher education system which is appropriate for u-Learning age was proposed based on the results of analyses. The developed model could help to educate pre-service teachers who will lead the education in u-Learning age.
This study explored the effects of pre-service elementary teachers' inquiries into science class dilemmas. By closely examining the characteristics of the pre-service teachers' inquiry processes and changes in their educational decisions, the effectiveness of using dilemmas as part of teacher education was determined. Twenty fourth-year university pre-service teachers participated and conducted inquiries into science class dilemmas over seven weeks. Based on pre- and post-questionnaires, KWHL tables, inquiry reports, discussions, and group class presentations, the major factors that influence the pre-service teacher's decision-making changes were extracted. The pre-service teachers found the science inquiry process meaningful when exploring the science topics covered in the dilemmas, and claimed that elementary school students would be able to engage in meaningful science explorations if they learned science through inquiry. Furthermore, the pre-service teachers explored the thinking processes and background knowledge of the students in different ways. Documents such as teacher's guides and the curriculum were examined and the students' thought processes were identified through interviews with the teachers and students, which were found to reflect their educational decision-making. Moreover, it was recognized by the pre-service teachers that depending on the situation, alternative teaching methods were possible. The focus on the unstructured dilemma problems provided the pre-service teachers with problem-solving situations that triggered scientific inquiry and exploration of student thinking and revealed the complexity of science teaching and learning. Based on these results, the teacher education implications for using dilemma cases are discussed.
