Highly corrosion resistance performance of CrAlSiN coatings were obtained by applying ultrathin $Al_2O_3$ thin films using atomic layer deposition (ALD) method. CrAlSiN coatings were prepared on Cr adhesion layer/SUS304 substrates by a hybrid coating system of arc ion plating and high power impulse magnetron sputtering (HiPIMS) method. And, ultrathin $Al_2O_3$ passivation layer was deposited on the CrAlSiN/Cr adhesion layer/SUS304 sample to protect CrAlSiN coatings by encapsulating the whole surface defects of coating using ALD. Here, the high-angle annular dark-field scanning transmission electron microscopy (HAADF-STEM) and energy dispersive X-ray spectrometry (EDX) analysis revealed that the ALD $Al_2O_3$ thin films uniformly covered the inner and outer surface of CrAlSiN coatings. Also, the potentiodynamic and potentiostatic polarization test revealed that the corrosion protection properties of CrAlSiN coatings/Cr/SUS304 sample was greatly improved by ALD encapsulation with 50 nm-thick $Al_2O_3$ thin films, which implies that ALD-$Al_2O_3$ passivation layer can be used as an effect barrier layer of corrosion.
Proton conducting crosslinked membranes were prepared using polymer blends of polystyrene-b-poly(hydroxyethyl acrylate)-b-poly(styrene sulfonic acid) (PS-b-PHEA-b-PSSA) and poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA). PS-b-PHEA-b-PSSA triblock copolymer at 28:21:51 wt% was synthesized sequentially using atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP). FT-IR spectroscopy showed that after thermal ($120^{\circ}C$, 2 h) and chemical (sulfosuccinic acid, SA) treatments of the membranes, the middle PHEA block of the triblock copolymer was crosslinked with PVA through an esterification reaction between the -OH group of the membrane and the -COOH group of SA. The ion exchange capacity (IEC) decreased from 1.56 to 0.61 meq/g with increasing amount of PVA. Therefore, the proton conductivity at room temperature decreased from 0.044 to 0.018 S/cm. However, the introduction of PVA resulted in a decrease in water uptake from 87.0 to 44.3%, providing good mechanical properties applicable to the membrane electrode assembly (MEA) of fuel cells. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) showed that the membrane was microphase-separated with a nanometer range with good connectivity of the $SO_3H$ ionic aggregates. The power density of a single $H_2/O_2$ fuel cell system using the membrane with 50 wt% PVA was $230\;mW/cm^2$ at $70^{\circ}C$ with a relative humidity of 100%. Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) also showed a decrease in the thermal stability of the membranes with increasing PVA concentration.

Graphene has attracted tremendous attention for the last a few years due to it fascinating electrical, mechanical, and chemical properties. Up to now, several methods have been developed exclusively to prepare graphene, which include micromechanical cleavage, polycrystalline Ni employing chemical vapor deposition technique, solvent thermal reaction, thermal desorption of Si from SiC substrates, chemical routes via graphite intercalation compounds or graphite oxide. In particular, polycrystalline Ni foil and conventional chemical vapor deposition system have been widely used for synthesis of large-area graphene. [1-3] In this study, synthesis of mono-layer graphene on a Ni foil, the mixing ratio of hydrocarbon ($CH_4$) gas to hydrogen gas, microwave power, and growth time were systemically optimized. It is possible to synthesize a graphene at relatively lower temperature ($500^{\circ}C$) than those (${\sim}1000^{\circ}C$) of previous results. Also, we could control the number of graphene according to the growth conditions. The structural features such as surface morphology, crystallinity and number of layer were investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and resonant Raman spectroscopy with 514 nm excitation wavelength. We believe that our approach for the synthesis of mono-layer graphene may be potentially useful for the development of many electronic devices.
In this paper, ${\pi}/4$-DQPSK modem according to ITU-R M.1842-1 recommendation Annex1 is investigated and simulated. At first, standardization and technical trend of VHF maritime mobile communication are introduced. The ${\pi}/4$-DQPSK modem defined in the Annex1 should support 28.8Kbps bit transmission rate within 25KHz frequency bandwidth. We describe the system model and simulation process of ${\pi}/4$-DQPSK modem transmitter and receiver design with RRC(Root Raised Cosine) transmitter and receiver filter. Then we suggest various graphical simulation results(time domain signals, constellation, power spectral density according to roll-off factor, eye diagram), and show simulated BER performance of the modem. From the simulation results, it is shown that roll-off factor of RRC filter affects to BER performance according to SNR and the designed simulation model meets the spectrum mask requirement suggested in ITU-R M.1842-1 recommendation.
Demand for plastic gears are increasing in many industries due to their low production cost, light weight, applicability without lubricant, corrosion resistance and high resilience. Despite these benefits, utilizing plastic gears is limited due to their poor material properties. In this work, DLC coating was applied to improve the tribological properties of polyamide66 gear. 0 V, 40 V, and 70 V of negative bias voltages were selected as a deposition parameter in DC magnetron sputtering system. Pin-on-disk experiment was performed in order to investigate the wear characteristics of the gears. The results of the pin-on-disk experiment showed that DLC coated polyamide66 with 40 V of negative bias voltage had the lowest friction coefficient value (0.134) and DLC coated PA66 with 0 V of negative bias voltage showed the best wear resistance ($9.83{\times}10^{-10}mm^3/N{\cdot}mm$) among all the specimens. Based on these results, durability tests were conducted for DLC coated polyamide66 gears with 0 V of negative bias voltage. The tests showed that the temperature of the uncoated polyamide66 gear increased to about $37^{\circ}C$ while the DLC coated gear saturated at about $25^{\circ}C$. Also, the power transmission efficiency of the DLC coated gear increased by about 6% compared to those without coating. Weight loss of the polyamide66 gears were reduced by about 73%.

An electro-mechanical actuator (EMA) is an actuator that combines an electric motor with a mechanical power transmission elements, and it is suitable for urban air mobility (UAM) in terms of design freedom and maintenance. In this paper, the author presents the research results of the EMA that controls the rotor blade pitch angle of UAM. The actuator is based on an inverted roller screw and controls the blade pitch angle through a two-bar linkage. The dynamic equations for the actuator alone and the blade pitching motion with actuator were derived. For the latter, the equivalent moment of inertia is variable depending on the link angle due to the two-bar linkage. The variations of the equivalent moments of inertia are analyzed and compared in terms of the nut motion and the blade pitch motion. For an example model, the variation of the equivalent moment of inertia of the former is smaller than the latter, so it is judged that the dynamic equations derived from the point of view of the nut motion is suitable for the controller design.
Electric wheelchairs, the output from the motor is mainly applied to a speed reducer using a power transmission device such as a belt or a chain. However, although a speed reducer using a belt or chain is a simple device, it occupies a lot of space and has a space limitation, so it is not suitable for an electric wheelchair driving part. However, since the speed reducer of the planetary gear type is decelerated on the same axis, the volume can be reduced, so the space constraint is less than that of the belt or chain type reducer. Therefore, in this study, a driving part that can obtain great propulsion with a speed reducer using a planetary gear type was developed through a study on the driving part of a wheelchair that can be switched between manual and electric. Accordingly, the tooth shape of the planetary gear applied to the reducer was designed using the Kisssoft program. In addition, the drive part was designed to be applicable to the existing wheelchair wheels, and the mechanism was optimized for the manual/electric switching principle and operation principle of the drive part. Based on the research contents, the final design and manufacture of the wheelchair reducer drive unit in the form of a planetary gear having one sun gear, two planetary gears and one ring gear was carried out.

The MATS(Missile Assembly Test Set) is manufactured and used to check the function of the missile during the period of development for the guided missile system, and the requirements for power and communication are managed for equipment production. The MATS developer implements software according to the proposed communication standard to guarantee the reliability of the data that communicates with the guided missile. The test bed is built and self-performance evaluation is performed after implementation. And the verification process is performed using the standard equipment. The characteristics of periodic delay for data transmission must be reflected when building a test bed. This paper describes a test bed construction method for data processing with periodic delay. Also This paper compares and evaluates the performance by changing the previously designed algorithm.
This study presents an analysis of the human body channel as an electric signal path using body impulse response (BIR). The human body communications (HBC) has recently emerged as an effective signal transmission method to create wireless body area networks (WBAN). We provide body channel characteristics based on measured BIR in a proper experimental environment for the HBC using capacitive coupling with a customized channel sounding device, which can be applied as a guideline for the HBC system design. The frequency response of the BIR, extracted by a customized signal processing for the measure signals, shows the channel path loss (CPS) between 0 MHz and 100 MHz with an average CPS of approximately 46.8 dB. In addition, the relative noise power distributions can provide estimations on the signal to noise ratio at the HBC receiver in terms of capacitor and resistor values in the measured frequency band and the frequency band lower than 3 MHz considering the baseband signal detection.
