Mn-Zn ferrite powder was obtained by wet method that was to be coprecipitated the metal ions of Fe2+, Mn2+ and Zn2+ with alkali solution. The target composition of the ferrite powder was 52 mol% Fe2O3, 24 mol% MnO, and 24 mol% ZnO, that was based on the region of high permeability. And the other ferrite powder was prepared by the dry method that was to be mixed the metal oxides as the above chemical composition. The wet method was compared with dry method for the powder properties and the electromagnetic characteristics of sintered cores. The synthesized powder by wet method was smaller particle size, narrower particle distribution, and higher purity than that of dry method. The initial permeability of sintered sample prepared by the wet method was 14000~28000, on the other side, 9000~15500 in case of the dry method.
Using calcium-phosphate-powder targets with the Ca/P ratios of 1.0-1.67, hydroxyapatite ($Ca_{10}(PO_4)_6(OH)_2$, HAp) thin films with 4-7㎛ thickness were prepared on titanium metal plates by r.f. magnetron sputtering, followed an annealing at $200^{\circ}C$ for 24 hr under a high water vapor pressure using an autoclave. All the specimens were systematically characterized by XRD, FT-IR, SEM and EDS analyses. The post-annealed films were confirmed to be a nonstoichiometric oxyhydroxyapatite by XRD and FT-IR measurements.
The microstructural properties and electrical characteristics of sputtering films deposited with a Cu-Ga target are analyzed. The Cu-Ga target is prepared using the cold spray process and shows generally uniform composition distributions, as suggested by secondary ion mass spectrometer (SIMS) data. Characteristics of the sputtered Cu-Ga films are investigated at three positions (top, center and bottom) of the Cu-Ga target by X-ray diffraction (XRD), SIMS, 4-point probe and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) analysis methods. The results show that the Cu-Ga films are composed of hexagonal and unknown phases, and they have similar distributions of composition and resistivity at the top, center, and bottom regions of the Cu-Ga target. It demonstrates that these films have uniform properties regardless of the position on the Cu-Ga target. In conclusion, the cold spray process is expected to be a useful method for preparing sputter targets.

$Cu_2ZnSnSe_4$ thin films for solar absorber application were prepared by pulsed laser deposition of a synthesized $Cu_2ZnSnSe_4$ compound target. The film's composition revealed that the deposited films possess an identical composition with the target material. Further film compositional control toward a stoichiometric composition was performed by optimizing substrate temperature, deposition time and target rotational speed. At the optimum condition, X-ray diffraction patterns of films showed that the films demonstrated polycrystalline stannite single phase with a high degree of (112) preferred orientation. The absorption coefficient of $Cu_2ZnSnSe_4$ thin films were above 104 cm.1 with a band gap of 1.45 eV. At an optimum condition, films were identified as a p type semiconductor characteristic with a resistivity as low as $10^{-1}{\Omega}cm$ and a carrier concentration in the order of $10^{17}cm^{-3}$.
Ultra-fine TiC/Co composite powder was synthesized by the carbothermal reduction process without wet chemical processing. The starting powder was prepared by milling of titanium dioxide and cobalt oxalate powders followed by subsequent calcination to have a target composition of TiC-15 wt.%Co. The prepared oxide powder was mixed again with carbon black, and this mixture was then heat-treated under flowing argon atmosphere. The changes in the phase, mass and particle size of the mixture during heat treatment were investigated using XRD, TG-DTA and SEM. The synthesized oxide powder after heat treatment at 700$^{\circ}C$ has a mixed phase of TiO$_2$ and CoTiO$_3$ phases. This composite oxide powder was carbothermally reduced to TiC/Co composite powder by the solid carbon. The synthesized TiC/Co composite powder at 1300$^{\circ}C$ for 9 hours has particle size of under about 0.4 $\mu$m.
Silver doped ZnO (SZO) films were prepared by rf magnetron sputtering on glass substrates with extraordinary designed ZnO target. With the doping source for target, use AgNO$_3$ powder on a various rate (0, 2, and 4 wt.%). We investigated dependence of coating parameter such as dopant content in target and substrate temperature in the SZO films. The SZO films have a preferred orientation in the (002) direction. As amounts of the Ag dopant in the target were increased, the crystallinity and the transmittance and optical band gap were decreased. And the substrate temperature were increased, the crystallinity and the transmittance were increased. But the crystallinity and the transmittance of SZO films were retrograde at 200$^{\circ}C$. Upside facts were related with composition. In addition, the Oxygen K-edge features of the SZO films were investigated by using near edge X-ray absorption fine structure (NEXAFS) spectroscopy. Changes of optical band gap of the SZO films were explained compared with XRD, XPS and NEXAFS spectra.
In this study, we demonstrated a simple and eco-friendly method, including mechanical polishing and attrition milling processes, to recycle sputtered indium tin oxide targets to indium tin oxide nanopowders and targets for sputtered transparent conductive films. The utilized indium tin oxide target was first pulverized to a powder of sub- to a few- micrometer size by polishing using a diamond particle coated polishing wheel. The calcination of the crushed indium tin oxide powder was carried out at $1000^{\circ}C$ for 1 h, based on the thermal behavior of the indium tin oxide powder; then, the powders were downsized to nanometer size by attrition milling. The average particle size of the indium tin oxide nanopowder was decreased by increasing attrition milling time and was approximately 30 nm after attrition milling for 15 h. The morphology, chemical composition, and microstructure of the recycled indium tin oxide nanopowder were investigated by FE-SEM, EDX, and TEM. A fully dense indium tin oxide sintered specimen with 97.4% of relative density was fabricated using the recycled indium tin oxide nanopowders under atmospheric pressure at $1500^{\circ}C$ for 4 h. The microstructure, phase, and purity of the indium tin oxide target were examined by FE-SEM, XRD, and ICP-MS.
$Cu_2ZnSnSe_4$(CZTSe) is one of the promising materials for the solar cell due to its abundant availability in the nature. In this study, we report the fabrication of CZTSe thin film by Pulsed Laser Deposition(PLD) method using quaternary compound target on sodalime glass substrate. The quaternary CZTSe compound target was synthesized by solid state reaction method using elemental powders of Cu, Zn, Sn and Se. Powders were milled in high purity ethanol using zirconia ball with mixed size of 1 and 3 mm at the same proportions for 72 hours milling time. The structural, chemical and mechanical properties of the synthesized CZTSe powders were investigated prior to the deposition process. The CZTSe compound powder, and $500^{\circ}C$ of sintering temperature shows the best properties for PLD target. Results show that the as-deposited CZTSe thin films with the precursors by PLD have a composition near-stoichiometric.
$Cu_2ZnSnS_4$ (CZTS) thin film is one of the candidate materials for the solar cell. It has an excellent optical absorption coefficient as well as appropriate 1.4~1.5eV band gap. The purpose of this study is replacing a half of high-cost Indium(In) atoms with low-cost Zinc(Zn) atoms and the other half with low-cost Tin(Sn) atoms in the lattice of CIS. In annealing process of thin films deposited with mixture target, the thin films were appeared the peeling. The resistivity was decreased. Thin films were deposited on ITO glass substrates using a compound target which were made by $CU_2S$, ZnS, $SnS_2$ powder were sintered in the atmosphere of Al at room temperature by rf magnetron sputtering We investigated potentialities of a low-cost material for the solar cell by measuring of thin film composition, the structure and optical properties. We could get an appropriate $Cu_2ZnSnS_4$ composition A (112) preferred orientation was appeared without annealing temperature as shown in the diffraction peaks of the CIS cells and was available for photovoltaic thin film materials. The band gap increased from 1.4 to 1.7eV as the composition ratio of Zn/Sn.. The optical absorption coefficient of the thin film was above $10^4cm^{-1}$.
MoN-Cu thin films were prepared to achieve appropriate properties of high hardness and low friction coefficient, which could be applied to automobile engine parts for reducing energy consumption as well as solving wear problems. Composite thin films of MoN-Cu have been deposited by various processes using multiple targets such as Mo and Cu. However, those deposition with multiple targets revealed demerits such as difficulties in exact control of composition and homogeneous deposition. This study is aiming for suggesting an appropriate process to solve those problems. A single alloying target of Mo-Cu (10 at%) was prepared by powder metallurgy methods of mechanical alloying (MA) and spar plasma sintering (SPS). Thin film of MoN-Cu was then deposited by magnetron sputtering using the single alloying target of Mo-Cu (10 at%). Properties of the resulting MoN-Cu thin film were examined and compared to those of MoN-Cu thin films prepared with double targets of Mo and Cu.
