  • This study examined the effect of job stress and mental health factors on the oral symptoms of caring service workers in Seoul. For the research method, a survey was conducted from July 24 to August 6, targeting 150 caring service workers. The survey items were job stress, mental health (physical symptoms, anxiety, and insomnia), and self-diagnosed oral symptoms. The results of the study were as follows. Job stress (p=0.001) had a significant effect on the oral symptoms. In addition, physical symptoms (p<0.001), anxiety symptoms (p<0.001), and insomnia symptoms (p<0.001) all had significant effects on the oral symptoms. Among the risk factors, physical symptoms had the greatest influence on oral symptoms. In addition, according to the correlation result of job stress, anxiety symptoms, insomnia symptoms, oral symptoms, as job stress increases, physical symptoms (p<0.001), anxiety symptoms (p<0.001), insomnia symptoms (p<0.001), oral symptoms (p<0.01) showed an increasing positive correlation and a statistically significant difference. Physical and psychological labor power is greatly exhausted by care service workers performing tasks that require physical and mental care for those who are being cared for. Therefore, there is a need for systematic expansion measures for the mental health of workers and the introduction of customized oral health education programs to improve oral health because improved health and oral health conditions can increase work performance.

  • The purpose of this study is to empirically analyze the mediating effect of job stress and Job engagement in job satisfaction between WFC(Work-Family Conflict) and quality of LMX(eader-member exchange) relationship of married female workers based on JD-R(Job Demands-Resources) model. A total of 945 people were targeted using the 7th panel data from the Korean Longitudinal Survey of Women and a structural equation model was used to verify the causal relationship and mediating effect of each variable using spss 23.0 and AMOS 21.0. As a result of the study, it was confirmed that WFC did not directly affect job satisfaction, and it was found that job satisfaction was negatively affected through job stress related to WFC. It was found that the quality of the LMX relationship had a positive effect on job satisfaction and reduced job stress, thus positively affecting job satisfaction. Job engagement was found to mediate the relationship between LMX and job satisfaction. This study is meaningful in that the search for multidimensional psychological and contextual factors that lead to job performance and job demands of married female workers are conducted.

  • Thus the purpose of this study is to determine how the brand equity is formed in the psychological process of customers by reviewing previous studies of relations between marketing factors influencing the formation and elements for the formation. Results of the study and their suggestions can be summarized as follows. First, among precedent factors required for the formation of the brand equity, advertisement was found having positive effects on both brand awareness and brand image irrespective of the two groups, or high and low involvement groups. Sales promotion did not have any effects on both brand awareness and brand image in the low involvement group while positively affecting brand awareness in the high involvement group. Distribution intensity was found having effects on both brand awareness and brand image in all of the two groups. Second, relations between brand awareness and brand image showed that the former has effects on the latter in both high and low involvement groups. This suggests that brand awareness plays a role in associating brand image. Third, relations among brand awareness, brand image and brand preference showed that both of the former twos influence the other in the high involvement group and that brand awareness cannot influence brand preference in the low involvement group. Fourth, relations between brand preference and brand loyalty showed that the former has effects on the former in both high and low involvement groups. This suggests that there is little possibility for consumers preferring specific brands to turn to other brands which have advantages such as price discount and gift presentation.

  • Knowledge about somatization (somatic manifestation of psychological distress symptoms) among immigrant populations is limited. While several studies have recognized somatization as a culturally distinctive expression of depression amongst older Korean immigrant population, somatization has not been incorporated into the comprehensive empirical model for depression of this population. In order to improve our general understanding of the phenomenon, the objective of this study is to empirically investigate principal contributing factors of somatization as well as inter-relationships among them. Data were collected from a cross-sectional community survey of 234 older Korean immigrants ($$age{\geq_-}55$$) in the New York metropolitan area. The statistical methodology employed a robust hierarchical regression procedure that iteratively downweights outliers. The results indicated that living arrangement, greater numbers of physical illnesses, and depression were significant explanatory factors of somatization. Furthermore, physical illness had a significant joint effect with perception of health on somatization, which confirms that positive perception of health exerts a moderating effect on the relationship between physical illness and somatization. The knowledge obtained from this study will contribute toward extending our knowledge on somatization and implementing more culturally sensitive mental health services for this population.

  • The aims of this study was to investigate the effect of workplace support and access to workplace counseling on the depression level of employees who are workplace bullying victims and then find cross-level interaction effects between individual and group factors. A multi-level analysis was conducted using data from 642 individuals who reported experiencing workplace bullying in the 2017 National Human Rights Commission survey. The findings indicate that a worker's perceived safety of their workplace is negatively associated with depression levels. Additionally, higher perceived workplace support and access to workplace counseling were associated with lower depression levels. Lastly, a positive interaction effect was observed between access to workplace counseling and perceived workplace support in relation to depression levels. That is, higher access to workplace counseling increases the negative effect of workplace support on depression levels of employees. These results highlight the importance of creating protective factors such as a safe and supportive organizational culture to combat workplace bullying of coworkers or supervisors, and implementation of counseling and support services to assist victims in coping with workplace bullying and reducing depression symptoms.

However, care farm services for the disabled, transportation disadvantaged, and socially disadvantaged are limited. This study conducted a demand survey in order to provide basic data for development of the Agro-Healing Virtual Reality Therapy(AVRT) system. The respondents were the ordinary person(n=127) and the disabled person(n=72), and the survey items consisted of 4 categories and 20 items, including intention to use AVRT, requirements for use, factors to be considered when developing the system, and content and program preferences. The intention to use a AVRT was found to be at a high level of 80% or more by respondent characteristics. In addition, similar results were shown in all items such as virtual reality experience, willingness to use, appropriate use time, and willingness to pay by respondent characteristics, and correlation by item was determined through correlation analysis. As for the conditions of use, both sides preferred rural types and were found to have the purpose of healing. However, there were concerns about dizziness in common between system use, and in the case of the disabled person, there were difficulties in purchasing expensive equipment. In the development of the AVRT system, the part of sensory priority, important technology level, and color preference were evaluated, and the preference of content and programs to be developed in the system was identified. Fruit, vegetables, flowers, and animals preferred mandarin, tomato, tulips, and dogs first, horticultural healing preferred harvest management for the ordinary person, plant cultivation for the disabled person, and forest healing and animal education preferred walking and dog-related programs. However, agricultural work was found to be a program with high preference for making processed foods for the ordinary person and creating an animal breeding environment for the disabled person. The result of this study is expected to provide reference data that can be suggested for the development of Agro-healing Virtual Reality Therapy system.
