Despite the increasing recognition of the value of emotions and younger consumers in luxury market segments, little research has focused on the role consumer characteristics and emotions play in younger consumers' commitment to luxury brands. Drawing on the identity-motivation model and the idea of self-construal, this study identifies the contributing factors of younger consumers' commitment to luxury fashion brands. Specifically, this study examines the role of consumer characteristics (i.e., self-construal), the self-expressiveness of brands, and emotional factors (i.e., brand love and brand attachment) in developing consumer-brand relationships. The proposed model was tested with college students in the U.S., which supplied a representative group of younger consumers of luxury fashion brands. The data were collected using web-based surveys and analyzed using structural equation modeling method. The results showed that consumers who were characterized with interdependent self-construal had positive perceptions of self-expressive luxury fashion brands. Furthermore, the perception of self-expressive brands promotes the consumers' brand love of and brand attachmentto luxury fashion brands. Also, while both improved brand commitment, brand attachment had a greater impact on brand commitment than brand love. This study contributes to the literature by identifying driving forces of younger consumers' brand commitment. It also provides managerial implications for luxury fashion brands.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between emotional competence and social anxiety among Korean children and adolescents. The subjects of this study were 385 children between fifth and sixth grade ages and 579 middle school students. Their emotional competence was assessed by 'Korean Emotional Competence scale (Kim et al., 2004),' and also their social adjustment was assessed by 'Social Anxiety Scale (Moon & Oh, 2002).' The data were analyzed by ANOVA, the Pearson's correlation, and regression, using SPSS. The results of this study are as follows: (1) Children's and adolescents' emotional competence and social anxiety were relatively high. (2) Their emotional competence had a meaningful difference according to SES, gender, and birth order. (3) Their social anxiety had a meaningful difference according to SES, gender, and birth order. (4) There was a significant relationship between their emotional competence and social anxiety. (5) A regression analysis result of children's and adolescents' social anxiety showed that approximately 11.3% variance could be explained by four emotional competence variables: 'self-expressiveness and assertion,' 'awareness and understanding of emotion,' 'positive acceptance,' and 'collective consciousness.'
The purpose of this study is to investigate moderating effect of psychological flexibility on impact which students feel ambivalence over emotional expressiveness in interpersonal relationships. There is increasing tension and anxiety about being evaluated by others such as anxiety, which is felt when others' evaluation is expected or actual, and this is called social interaction anxiety. The purpose of this study was to develop a nursing intervention program that can reduce social interaction anxiety among nursing college students by analyzing factors affecting social interaction anxiety in nursing college students. The subjects of this study were four nursing college students in B city and C city. The survey data were analyzed using frequencies, percentages, means, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient, and stepwise multiple regression with the SPSS WIN 21.0 program. The results of this study show that social interaction anxiety was positively correlated with fear of negative evaluation (r=.67, p<.001), fear of positive evaluation (r=.56, p<.001), and intolerance of uncertainty (r=.44, p<.001). Factors affecting ambivalence over emotional expressiveness in terms of social interaction anxiety was interpersonal relationship (β=.19, p<.001), fear of negative evaluation (β=.43, p<.001), and fear of positive evaluation (β=.34, p<.001). The explanatory power of these variables was 58.1%. Therefore, it is thought that nursing college students need to provide a support system to maintain good interpersonal relationships, to reduce sensitivity to positive and negative evaluation, and to accept and positively evaluate their own ability.
This study investigated the concept of fashion as art by examining whether or not university students, rather than professional art critics, consider fashion to be art. The survey subjects were 146 university students, randomly chosen from textiles and clothing-related classes offered in 4 different universities in Seoul. A survey with the following 3 questions was conducted between September 2005 and June 2006: 1. What is art? 2. Is fashion art? 3. Explain the reason why fashion is, or is not, art. Morris Weitz's open concept of art is applied to discuss whether fashion can be classified as art. According to Weitz, there are no universal commonalities among arts. Therefore, art can be defined based on similarities among preexisting art forms and movements. As a result, respondents mentioned the following as characteristics of art: expressiveness, creativity, influence on viewers' emotion, tendency to make life bountiful, particular behaviors or objects, something valuable, formalities, etc. These answers parallel the features of art discussed by professional art critics. In addition, 12 of the 146 respondents considered fashion was not art, 20 placed it on the border while the remaining 114 affirmed a positive relation. Respondents who considered fashion to be art or placed it on the border listed the similar features mentioned in the answers to the first question as similarities between fashion and art. On the other hand, features of fashion such as commercial, whimsical, impermanent and utilitarian properties were answered as dissimilarities between fashion and art. However, these dissimilarities do not serve as obstacles for considering fashion as art, since Weitz's open concept of art does not assume the existence of universal traits of art. Therefore, referring to Weitz's open concept of art, fashion can be considered as art, since reasonable similarities between fashion and art were designated by the majority of respondents.

The purpose of this study is to understand the formative characteristics of futuristic virtual fashion revealed in virtual fashion platforms targeting the human body. First, the current status of fashion in the metaverse and futurist fashion were reviewed and summarized by referring to prior research. Next, among the items posted on DRESSX, "futurism" was searched and those resturning a positive result were collected as research subjects. The characteristics were organized into design elements: colors, shapes, materials, and patterns. Futuristic aesthetic characteristics were derived from the characteristics of each design element. As a result, color showed the characteristics of achromatic, vivid and neon colors, multi-color and gradation, multi-color due to reflected light, and color conversion. As for the form, a body-concious look or exaggerated silhouettes, spatial expressions in geometric structures, forms imitating living things, and fluid silhouettes using clouds were prominent. Materials showed the digitization of universal clothing materials, application of industrial materials, use of metal materials, and unrealistic materials. In the patterns, geometric abstract patterns, patterns that reveal the digital world view, and moving fluid patterns appeared. The aesthetic characteristics of futurism in virtual fashion were revealed in four categories: visual dynamics, high-tech sensibility, variability, kineticisim. Visual dynamics were revealed in geometric forms, and intense neon colors. High-tech sensibility was prominent in the use of metal and industrial materials, light emission, and patterns of the digital world view. The expression of multiple colors by reflected light and the change showed the variability of futurism. The use of unrealistic materials, such as clouds and fire and fluid silhouettes expressed kineticisim. The infinite expressiveness of virtual fashion made it possible to actively express the aesthetic characteristics of futurism.
The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of young children's verbal expression on their prosocial behaviors. The subjects were 44 four-year-olds and 42 five-year- olds in nine kindergartens and daycare centers located in Gyeonggi-do. The instruments used were Verbal Expressiveness Inventory(Jang, 1981) and PBSYC for teachers(Kim, 2003). The major findings of the study were as follows: Concerning the correlations between their verbal expression and prosocial behavior, those who had better verbal expression showed more prosocial behavior. The relationships between the subfactors of verbal expression and those of prosocial behavior were inconsistent to some extent, but there was a positive correlation between the two overall. So it could be said that a better verbal expresson leads to better prosocial behavior. From the findings of the study on the effect of the verbal expression on prosocial behavior, it can be concluded that young children who have better verbal expression are more excellent at building a good peer relationship, helping their peers, being considerate, making themselves accessible, sharing their own belongings with peers and regulating their own emotions. This study is expected to assist early childhood education institutions to provide young children with a variety of educational activities geared toward improving verbal expression to improve their prosocial behaviors. Also, this study is expected to help teachers to improve the prosocial behavior of young children in diverse ways.
