A Study on the Image of Male Flight Attendant on Customer Satisfaction

  • Purpose - Many studies have shown the effects of the external images of female flight attendants on the customers' satisfaction. Recently, the perception of male flight attendants has become more important and positive, and airlines are hiring a significant number of male flight attendants every year. Due to the lack of research on the male flight attendant, however, the images of male flight attendants were investigated for this study. Research, design, data and methodology - Using survey techniques with 204 respondents, this study used analytical data based their resulting analysis. Results - The study examined whether the image of the male flight attendant affects the cognitive and emotional perceptions of customers. The focus of the present study is the external image of the male flight attendant, and the following image-component divisions were formed: hairstyle, body type, uniform, speech, and facial expression. Conclusions - The study purpose sought to determine whether the image of the male flight attendant exert effects on the emotional and cognitive images of airlines, and if these images have a positive effect on the customers' satisfaction and loyalty for an airline, so that airlines can use the external image of the male flight attendant to help with its own image reinforcement.

현재와 미래의 긍정성과 부정성이 시간적 거리 판단과 시간표현에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Positivity and Negativity of Present and Future on Temporal distance judgment and Time expression)

  • 본 연구는 현재와 미래의 긍정성과 부정성이 특정 미래 시점까지 시간적 거리 판단에 미치는 영향과 시간표현에 미치는 영향을 경험적으로 검증해보고자 하였다. 실험 1에서는 현재와 미래를 긍정적이거나 부정적인 상황으로 조작하고 참가자들에게 미래 시점까지의 시간적 거리감을 판단하도록 요구하였다. 그 결과, 현재와 미래가 모두 긍정적인 경우이거나 현재는 긍정적이지만 미래가 부정적인 경우에 미래 시점까지의 시간적 거리를 가깝게 추정하였다. 반면에, 현재와 미래가 모두 부정적이거나 현재는 부정적이지만 미래가 긍정적인 경우에는 미래 시점까지의 시간적 거리를 먼 것으로 판단하였다. 아울러 시간적 거리 판단은 미래의 상황보다 현재의 상황이 더 큰 영향을 미친다는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 실험 2에서는 실험 1과 동일한 상황을 참가자들에게 제시하여 주관적 시간에 대한 느낌을 표현해볼 것을 요청하였고 그 결과를 토대로 주관적 시간표현을 인지적 측면과 정서적 측면으로 분류하였다. 실험 2의 결과를 근거로 하여 특정 미래 시점을 빠르거나 가깝게 느끼는 주관적 시간을 '가용의 시간'이라는 용어로, 특정 미래 시점을 느리거나 멀게 느끼는 주관적 시간을 '감내의 시간'이라는 용어로 명명하였다.

화장의 사회.심리적 기대효과에 따른 화장이미지와 자의식에 관한 연구 (A Study on Makeup Image and Self-Consciousness According to the Level of Expected Socio-Psychological Effect of Makeup)

  • This study was made to investigate the differences in Korean woman's perceived makeup image and self-consciousness according to their expectation level in socio-psychological effect of makeup, and to gather information needed for the better understanding of cosmetics consumers and more effective marketing activities of cosmetics industries. Normative-descriptive survey method using questionnaire was employed for the present study. The survey was conducted in August 2001 and the sample consisted of 942 women between the ages of 18 and 50 residing in Seoul and Kyungi province. Data were analyzed by SPSS package. Factor analysis, ANOVA, and MANOVA were employed for the analysis of the data. The results are as follows : (1) Six factors emerged from the data related to the category of expected socio-psychological effect of makeup. Those factors were named as "increasing positiveness", "refreshment", "covering weakness", "self-expression", "consideration for others", and "the tool for self-change". Four factors were found in the category of makeup image, and the factors were named as "refinement", "nobility", "favorable impression ", and "personality ". (2) There was a tendency that those who highly expect the socio-psychological effect of makeup have more positive self-image. Considering this differences in self-image according to the level of expected socio-psychological effect of makeup. service activities for the consumers' positive opinion and attitude to the effect of makeup are needed, and it seems that those service activities will have a good influence on the consumers' emotional health. (3) Subjects with higher level of social anxiety showed higher expectations in refreshment, covering weakness and self-expression. Considering this trend, marketers have to make an constant effort for the variety of cosmetics and makeup manner by which consumers satisfy their expectation in makeup. It seems that the satisfaction of their expectation on the help of makeup effect will contribute to lessen social anxiety, and to get emotional stability. (4) Subjects with higher personal self-anxiety showed higher expectations of the effect. "increase of positiveness". 종합병원 간호사의 감정노동이 이직의도에 미치는 영향: 간호조직문화의 매개효과 (The Influence of Emotional Labor of General Hospital Nurses on Turnover Intention: Mediating Effect of Nursing Organizational Culture)

  • 본 연구는 간호사의 감정노동이 이직의도에 미치는 과정에서 간호조직문화의 매개효과를 파악하기 위함이다. 대상자는 G시 소재한 종합병원에 근무하는 간호사 363명으로 2017년 10월 17일부터 10월 31일까지 자료수집 후 SPSS 21.0을 이용하여 분석하였다. 연구결과, 감정노동과 이직의도와의 관계에서 관계지향문화와 혁신지향문화는 감정노동의 빈도와 이직의도와의 관계를 부분 매개하는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구결과는 바람직한 감정표현으로 긍정적인 상호관계를 조성함으로써 조직의 원활한 관계 및 응집력을 높이기 위한 간호조직문화의 중요함이 이직을 낮출 수 있음을 보여준다. 따라서 추후 신규간호사의 이직률을 줄이기 위한 교육프로그램 및 경력간호사를 위한 경력 별 다양한 교육프로그램을 적용하여 조직문화를 조성해 나가야 할 것이다.

조현병 환자의 정서를 위한 프로그램의 효과: 무작위 대조군 실험연구의 체계적 고찰 (The Effect of Program on Emotion of Patients with Schizophrenia: A systematic review of randomized controlled trials)

  • Purpose : This study systematically assessed 9 emotion-function programs for schizophrenic individuals that have been implemented over the past 10 years in Korea and abroad, with the objective of providing clinical grounds and data for further programs. Methods : This study identified 2,558 studies from among those registered in the RISS, KISS, EMbase, PubMed and Scopus databases from 2013 to September 2023, using 'schizophrenia' AND 'emotion' AND ('program' OR 'therapy') as keywords. Of the 2,558 studies retrieved from electronic databases, 602 duplicate papers were excluded. After this process, 1,915 papers that did not meet the study's inclusion and exclusion criteria were excluded based on their titles and abstracts. Following a review of the texts of the remaining 41 papers, nine papers were finally selected, excluding 32 papers according to the selection and exclusion criteria. Results : Programs for the emotional function of patients with schizophrenia have continued to be researched. The results of an evaluation on the quality of the selected literature confirmed that a majority of the reviewed items were "uncertain", confirming that there was a risk of bias. The interventions for emotions included art, cognitive-behavioral, and physical programs, of which art programs were frequently applied. Most of the interventions were implemented in hospitals. The dependent variables for evaluating emotions included emotional expression, depression, anxiety, and positive emotions, and among them, emotional expression was used most frequently. Accordingly, the Berkeley expressivity questionnaire was commonly used as an evaluation tool. Conclusion : This study is significant for intending to analyze domestic and overseas programs for the emotions of patients with schizophrenia, thereby proposing the direction for planning and applying interventions in clinical settings. In follow-up studies, it will be necessary to develop a protocol that confirms interventions according to the settings and patient characteristics of programs and expands the scope of literature reviews.

Emotional Intelligence, Academic Motivation, and Achievement among Health Science Students in Saudi Arabia: A Self-Deterministic Approach

  • Purpose: This study used a self-deterministic approach to explore the relationship between emotional intelligence (EI), academic motivation (AM), and achievement among health science students. Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted in three cities of Saudi Arabia (Dammam, Riyadh, and Jeddah). A convenience sample of 450 students was incorporated using the multistage cluster sampling technique. The online survey contained three sections: students' basic data and academic achievement level, the modified Schutte self-report inventory, and the Academic Motivation Scale lowercase. Results: This study revealed moderate overall scores for EI (57.1%), AM (55.6%), and grade point average (GPA) (57.6%). The overall EI score, its domains, and GPA had significant positive correlations with overall AM and intrinsic and extrinsic motivation (p < .01). Amotivation had an insignificant correlation with GPA (p < .05), but it was negatively correlated with EI and its domains (p < .01). Multiple regression analysis proved that EI domains predicted 5.0% of GPA variance; emotions appraisal and expression (β = .02, p = .024), regulation (β = .11, p = .032), and utilization (β = .24, p < .01). EI domains also predicted 26.0% of AM variance; emotions appraisal and expression (β = .11, p = .04), regulation (β = .33, p < .01), and utilization (β = .23, p < .01). Moreover, AM predicted 4.0% of the variance in GPA; intrinsic (β = .25, p = .004) and extrinsic (β = .11, p = .022) motivation. AM also predicted 25.0% of the variance in EI: intrinsic (β = .34, p < .01) and extrinsic motivation (β = .26, p = .026). Conclusion: EI and AM have a bidirectional influence on each other, significantly shaping the GPA of health sciences students in Saudi Arabia, where intrinsic motivation has a predominant role. Thus, promoting students' AM and EI is recommended to foster their academic achievement.

장기적 금연 지속기간 예측 모형: 스트레스 대처를 중심으로 (Decision-Tree Model of Long-term Abstention from Smoking: Focused on Coping Styles)

  • Objectives: Smokers who had failed to quit smoking were frequently reported that life stress mostly interrupted their abstention. Stress vulnerability model for smoking cessation has been considered, and most of contemporary smoking cessation programs help smokers develop coping strategies for stressful situations. This study aims to investigate the appropriate coping styles for stress of abstention from smoking. The result of investigating the relationship between abstention following smoking cessation program and coping styles would suggest useful information for those who want to stop smoking and health practitioners who help them. Methods: Participants were 69 smokers (62 males, 7 females) participated in a hospitalized smoking cessation program, whose mean age was 44.89 (SD=9.61). Participants took medical test and completed questionnaires and psychological tests including: Fagerstrom Test for Nicotine Dependence and Multidimensional Coping Scale. To identify participants' abstention, researchers followed them for 2 years. To identify whether abstained or not and encourage them to abstain, researchers called them on the telephone once a week for 3 months. After 3 months, they were contacted every other week till 6 months passed since they left smoking cessation program. And they were contacted once a month for other 18months. Researchers also contacted their family to identify their abstention. Data Mining Decision Tree was performed with 37 variables (13 variables for the coping styles and 24 smoking-related variables) by Answer Tree 3.0v Results: Forty four (63.8%) out of sixty nine for 2 weeks, 34 (49.3%) for 6 months, 25 (36.2%) abstained for 1 year, and 22 (31.9%) abstained for 2 years. Participants of this study abstained average of 286.77 days from smoking. Included variables of a Decision Tree model for this study were positive interpretation, emotional expression, self-criticism, restraint and emotional social support seeking. Decision Tree model showed that those (n=9) who did not interpret positively (<=7.5) and criticized themselves (>6.5) abstained 23 days only, while those (n=9) who interpreted positively (>7.5), expressed their emotion freely (>6.5), and sought social support actively (>11.5) abstained 730 days, till last day of the investigation. Conclusion: The results of this study showed that certain coping styles such as positive interpretation, emotional expression, self-criticism, restraint and emotional social support seeking were important factors for long-term abstention from smoking. These findings reiterate the role of stress for abstention from smoking and suggest a model of coping styles for successful abstention from smoking. Despite of limitation of this study, it might help smokers who want to stop smoking and health practitioners who help them.

학령전 아동의 정서이해와 부모의 정서표현성 및 아동정서 수용태도와의 관계 (The Relation between Preschoolers' Emotion Understanding and Parents' Emotion Expressiveness and Attitude Toward Children's Emotion Expressiveness)

  • This study investigated the relation between preschoolers' emotion understanding and parents' emotion expressiveness and attitude toward children's emotion expressiveness. Subjects were ninety 3- to 5-year old children and their parents. Parents' emotion socialization was measured by PACES developed by Saami(1989) and FEQ developed by Harberstadt(1986). And preschoolers' identification of basic emotional expressions and expression of their own feelings and others' feelings in various situations were measured. Results revealed that 5-year-old children understood emotion better than 3-year-old children, and mother's positive emotion expression influenced children's emotion understanding. The results are consistent with recent research showing that parents emotion socialization may be important for preschoolers' emotion understanding.

한국판 음악 기능 척도의 타당화와 정서적 적응과의 관계 (Validation of RESPECT-Music With a Korean Sample)

  • 본 연구에서는 음악을 개인적, 사회적, 문화적 목적으로 사용하는 개인의 성향을 측정하기 위해 음악 기능 척도(RESPECT-Music)를 한국어로 번안 및 타당화하고, 정서적 적응과의 관계를 탐색하였다. 대학생 212명으로 구성된 표본 A를 대상으로 탐색적 요인분석을 실시하였고, 대학생 296명으로 구성된 표본 B를 대상으로 확인적 요인분석과 신뢰도 분석 및 정서적 적응 변인과의 상관분석을 하였다. 탐색적 요인분석 결과 한국어로 번안된 음악 기능 척도는 원 척도와 동일하게 배경 음악, 가치 발달, 집중 향상, 춤 유도, 가족과의 유대, 문화적 정체성 반영, 정치적 태도 표현, 스트레스 해소, 정서 전달, 친구와의 유대의 10요인으로 구성되어 있음을 확인하였다. 확인적 요인분석 결과 10요인 35문항 모형의 적합도가 적절하였고, 문항 신뢰도도 양호하였다. 정서적 적응 변인들과 상관분석을 실시한 결과, 음악 기능 척도는 정적 정서, 재해석 정서조절 방략, 정서개선 신념과 유의한 정적 상관을 보여 대체적으로 정서적 적응과 연관 있는 것으로 나타났다. 10개 하위요인 중 춤 유도 기능이 정서적 적응과 가장 뚜렷한 연관성을 나타냈으며 정치적 태도 표현 기능은 예외적으로 정서적 적응과 상반되는 결과를 나타냈다. 연구 결과를 음악 기능의 세 차원으로 설명하면, 음악을 개인적, 사회적 목적으로 사용할수록 정서적 적응 수준이 높았고, 문화적 목적으로 사용하는 것은 정서적 적응과의 관련성이 낮았다.

유아의 의도적 통제와 친사회적 행동 간의 관계에서 어머니 정서사회화 행동의 조절효과 (The Moderating effect of Maternal Emotion-Related Socialization Behaviors on the Relations Between Preschooler's Effortful control and Prosocial behavior)

  • The purpose of this study examined the moderating effect of maternal emotion-related socialization behaviors on the relations between preschooler's effortful control and prosocial behavior. In this study, subjects were 153 preschoolers and their mothers. The major results were as follows; there was a moderating effect of maternal emotion-related socialization behaviors on the relationship between preschooler's effortful control and prosocial behavior. Specifically, maternal negative emotion expression and response to the preschooler's positive emotion moderated the effect preschooler's effortful control on prosocial behavior. In conclusion, the impact of effortful control on preschooler's prosocial behavior were significant. Also, maternal emotion-related socialization behaviors(i.e., negative emotion expression and response to the child's positive emotion) affected on preschooler's prosocial behavior. The findings of the study will contribute to help maternal emotional interaction with their preschool aged children.
