Optimized Time Scale Modification (TSM) System Integrating G,729 Speech Decoder and Dual SOLA Algorithm (G.729 음성 복호화기와 듀얼 SOLA 알고리즘을 통합한 최적의 음성 속도 변환 시스템)

  • This paper implements optimized Time Scale Modification (TSM) system using ITU G.729 speech decoder and Dual SOLA algorithm. The proposed system assume 8 Kz sampling rate, 80 samples/frame input speech from the ITU G.729 speech Decoder and the TSM (Time Scale Modification) feature of Dual SOLA produces the high quality output speech that was slow-down or speed up as a user's choice. Especially, the proposed Optimized Dual SOLA base on various simulations and theoretical analysis, and the additional interpolation procedure of the speech makes it possible to setup high performance integrated TSM system at the maximum time scale modification rate. The system performance is analyzed and verified with various input speech and playback speed.

  • It is not easy to keep time promises in the complex daily lives. Especially, the increase in the number of vehicles causes traffic congestion in commuting time, which results in the delayed arrival and varies greatly depending on the weather conditions. In this paper, proposed is a smart alarm clock that automatically adjusts the alarm time according to weather conditions and suggests ways to deal with traffic congestion. The proposed smart alarm clock is designed to operate the functions of a normal alarm clock using touch functionality. In addition, it is designed to find weather information using open API and to automatically change alarm time to prepare for expected time delay. The proposed design was implemented based on Arduino Mega2560 and a touch TFT-LCD. WiFi module for internet connection, RTC module for clock function and MP3 player module for alarm sound playback were used together. The proposed design has been filed as a patent and is currently under review.

  • Currently, several research studies are looking to improve the quality of DASH (Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP) based live streaming services. However, conventional DASH based streaming schemes cannot provide seamless playback while maintaining the low buffering and it adversely affects the QoE (Quality of Experience). To address this problem, we propose the QoE driven segment scheduling scheme. The proposed scheme adaptively schedules the segment request message according to the time and variation of segment fetching. Simulation results indicate that the proposed scheme improves the QoE of live streaming service by maintaining the low buffering delay and reducing the buffer underflow events.

  • This paper analyzes metadata workflow from creation to browsing, and discusses metadata authoring and browsing technology. Unlike usual multimedia authoring, broadcast metadata authoring means metadata editing synchronized with video. In order to make practical application of other systems, the result is in XML or MXF(Material eXchange Format) based on common metadata scheme. The MXF Browser developed with the consideration of broadcast metadata that is time-synchronized with AV content provides not only metadata authoring capability but also advanced content browsing services such as summary playback and highlight browsing based on metadata multi-track.

  • 지상파 UHD 방송의 시행 및 확대를 목표로 세계 각 국에서 정부 민간 차원의 대규모 투자 및 개발이 활발히 진행되고 있다. 기존 HD 방송 대비 데이터양이 막대하게 증가되기 때문에 실시간 고효율 처리를 위한 기술 개발 및 연구가 진행되고 있다. 특히 UHD 방송 제작 관련하여 UHD 카메라로부터 영상 및 음향을 실시간으로 획득하고 편집된 영상을 재생하기 위한 시스템 개발이 최근 주요 방송장비 업체 주도로 진행되고 있다. 이에 본 논문은 최대 2 채널의 4K UHD 영상 데이터를 동시에 실시간으로 획득 및 재생하기 위한 FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) 및 고속 입출력 인터페이스 기반의 하드웨어 플랫폼을 제안하였다. 또한 카메라/디스플레이와 편집 서버 간의 데이터의 고속 고효율 전송을 위한 로직을 HDL(Hardware Design Language) 설계하여 FPGA 내에 탑재하고 카메라/디스플레이/편집 서버와 통합하였다. 시험 결과 2 채널 4K 60fps 영상 데이터를 정상적으로 획득 및 재생하였다.

  • 일반적으로 UHD 방송 편집 시스템에서 UHD 영상의 데이터양이 막대하기 때문에 실시간 전송을 위해 코덱과 함께 압축하여 편집 서버로 혹은 편집 서버로부터 스트림 형태로 전송한다. BT.1120 형태로 전송 송출된 SDI (Serial Digital Interface) 내장 음향 데이터는 영상과 달리 보조 데이터 영역에 다른 메타 데이터들과 함께 합성되어 전송 송출되기 때문에 추출 및 합성이 상대적으로 어렵다. 특히 재생을 위해서는 영상 코덱으로부터의 출력 영상과의 동기를 고려해야 하고 음향 데이터를 BT.1120 표준에 맞춰 보조 데이터 영역에 합성해야하기 때문에 개발에 어려움이 있다. 이에 본 논문은 UHD 영상/음향 데이터의 실시간 획득/재생 시스템에서의 SDI 내장 음향 데이터의 추출 및 합성을 위한 FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) 기반 하드웨어 플랫폼을 제안하였다. 또한, 이를 위한 음향 데이터 추출 로직과 합성 로직을 HDL(Hardware Design Language) 설계하여 FPGA 내에 탑재하고 카메라/디스플레이/편집 서버와 통합하였다. 시험 결과 4K 60fps 데이터에서 정상적으로 영상과 음향을 분리/획득 및 합성/재생하였다.

  • Intensive studies have been made in the area of VOD server. Multimedia files in the VOD sever are characterized with the large volume of data, the requirements of synchronization and real-time playback of streams. The basic goal of the study is to find an efficient mechanism to allow maximum number of users under the limited resources such as Bu11er size and disk bandwidth. we propose a efficient user-grouping policy for multi-casting services with dynamic monitoring and management of VOD sever resources. Simulation results show that the rate of buffer usage and QOS change of proposed scheme are about 23% performance improved than that of traditional methods. This implies that our method can allow much more users for given resources.

  • The Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP(DASH) is envisioned to evolve to meet an increasing demand on providing seamless video streaming services in the near future. The DASH performance heavily depends on the client's adaptive quality selection algorithm that is not included in the standard. The existing conventional algorithms are basically based on a procedural algorithm that is not easy to capture and reflect all variations of dynamic network and traffic conditions in a variety of network environments. To solve this problem, this paper proposes a novel quality selection mechanism based on the Deep Q-Network(DQN) model, the DQN-based DASH Adaptive Bitrate(ABR) mechanism. The proposed mechanism adopts a new reward calculation method based on five major performance metrics to reflect the current conditions of networks and devices in real time. In addition, the size of the consecutive video segment to be downloaded is also considered as a major learning metric to reflect a variety of video encodings. Experimental results show that the proposed mechanism quickly selects a suitable video quality even in high error rate environments, significantly reducing frequency of quality changes compared to the existing algorithm and simultaneously improving average video quality during video playback.

  • When we present some information, we can use application programs through multinedia-based authoring tools. Especially.many programers proposed to improve its intergration time and reduce programming speed and easy to use. However, multimedia based authoring tools have not all of programming methodolgies and do not supply special functions from user's request. Therefore, we have to apply effective functions through high-level programming languages.In this paper, we propose to use small appkication prograns through linking methods, So we reduce overhead from memory loading In authoring tools, we can use MCI(media control interface) call functions for playback audio files.we development ATS(Auto Transition System) for several functions-close MCI call audio files, get object status, page-to page trancition.We evidently show that an optimal configuration of presentation obtained by ATS algorithm.

  • In this paper, we propose a simultaneously streaming method of multimedia files. The main features and contributions of the proposed method are as follows. First, to share and play at the same time one video playback in more than two devices to provide convenience for users. Second, to contribute communications and multimedia technologies by developing a streaming technology that can work on two or more devices. The results of implementation and performance evaluation show successful UDP data communication and the simultaneous transfer of streaming multimedia with data to the receiving sides.
