The aim of this study was to understand the nature and semantic structure of male smokers' experience of smoking cessation attempts. The participants were nine male smokers with at least one smoking cessation attempt, and who responded voluntarily to the preliminary survey. Data collection was conducted from September to December 2017, and the results of individual in-depth interview were analyzed by applying the Giorgi(2009)'s phenomenological research method. Result: 'Attempt's of smoking cessation', 'Several failed attempts of smoking cessation', 'Desperate need for help' and 'An important factor in the success of smoking cessation'. Conclusion: The present study showed that male smokers were desperate for outside intervention, smoking cessation policies, and help from family members and acquaintances as they tried to cease smoking. Therefore, it is necessary to have a comprehensive understanding of smoking men's experience in smoking cessation, to identify their nursing needs, and provide necessary nursing intervention so that they can lead a healthy life as a member of society without giving up smoking. The purpose of this study was to discuss the nature of pregnancy experience among unwed Korean mothers and to figure out what it meant for them, by asking some of them to reflect on themselves in a written form from interpretative and phenomenological perspective, based on van Manen's research method of the same approach. The subjects in this study were seven unmarried mothers in Korea. The data were collected from July through December 2000 through in- depth interview and observation. The statements of the participants were taped, recorded, analyzed and select essential themes. To have a phenomenological understanding of the pregnancy unmarried mothers, literary works, including essays and novels, were reviewed. The findings of this study were as below: The selected substantial themes about the pregnancy and birth experiences of the single mothers included 'hatred for boy friend,' 'hatred for the fetus,' and 'hatred for myself.' The unmarried mothers met their boy friends through the introduction of friends. At first, they were good friends, but they soon went on a date and had sexual relation with no common knowledge about sex. Most of them were aware of their pregnancy after they felt fetal movement, but they put off taking the test because they didn't want to accept the fact and feared it. Such an attitude was rare among married pregnant women, and being pregnant with no prior preparation or sexual knowledge is not common in Western countries. They felt guilty and informed their boy friends of the fact, but the boy friends didn't admit their responsibility and rejected the babies. This made the poor girls hate them, and it turned into severe abhorrence. They thought their lives were ruined by the babies, and wished they would disappear. They reproached the babies, hitting their own bellies or making a kick. They considered themselves to be abandoned and didn't want to live any more. Giving themselves up to despair, some attempted to commit a suicide. They hoped to die, thinking their death would solve the problem. When they lost a chance of abortion and were about to have the babies adopted, they felt sorry for them. The unwanted pregnancy gave them a pain, but they keenly felt they were loved by their mothers, and learned the value of family. It's attempted in this study to clearly show how much unmarried Korean mothers suffered from pregnancy, and this effort paved the way for seeing unwed mothers in a new light and having a better understanding of them, instead of sticking to general perception.

This study is about the educational motivations of highly educated adult learners in order to understand the phenomenon of educational participation by highly educated adult learners and to analyze their characteristics. The analysis of this study used phenomenological methods. The findings are as follows. First, as a result of examining the motivations for education, both case 1 and case 2 show goal-oriented features. Second, as a result of examining the nature of education, case 1 was able to grasp the in-depth meaning of education and the nature and meaning of detailed education. In case 2, a learning-oriented characteristic is shown, unlike the goals presented in the motivation for education. Third, as a result of examining the changes in meaning of social welfare after learning about social welfare, case 1 was an opportunity to understand various areas of social welfare, and case 2 was able to explain the expertise of social welfare workers and the poor social welfare practice field. Personal service robots, a type of social robot that has emerged with the aging population and technological advancements, are undergoing a transformation centered around technologies that can extend independent living for older adults in their homes. For older adults to accept and use social robot innovations in their daily lives on a long-term basis, it is crucial to have a deeper understanding of user perspectives, contexts, and emotions. This research aims to comprehensively understand older adults by utilizing a mixed-method approach that integrates quantitative and qualitative data. Specifically, we employ the Van Kaam phenomenological methodology to group conversations into nine categories based on emotional cues and conversation participants as key variables, using voice conversation records between older adults and social robots. We then personalize the conversations based on frequency and weight, allowing for user segmentation. Additionally, we conduct profiling analysis using demographic data and health indicators obtained from pre-survey questionnaires. Furthermore, based on the analysis of conversations, we perform K-means cluster analysis to classify older adults into three groups and examine their respective characteristics. The proposed model in this study is expected to contribute to the growth of businesses related to understanding users and deriving insights by providing a methodology for segmenting older adult s, which is essential for the future provision of social robots with caregiving functions in everyday life.
The purpose of this study is to examine a married nurse's experience of child rearing through being applied to phenomenological research method. By exchanging their experiences, helping and understanding one another, married nurses can work with delight considering their own present job as their lifelong job. In addition this study can help single nurses overcome the female crises such as marriage, childbirth, and child rearing they will experience in the future. The subjects of this research was 26 married nurses who work for a university hospital in affiliation in Seoul and have children. The period of materials collection was from Feb. 1st to Mar. 3, 1995. The method of materials collection was primarily to write down a questionary with openhearted contents. In collecting it, the respondents were allowed to say at their pleasure through further interview. The materials were analyzed by Giorgi's phenomenological analysis method. The findings of this study are as follows ; 1) The responses of married nurses' experience of child rearing-[pleasure] [family solidarity] [maternal-infant attachment] [understanding] [toilsome]-were induced. That is, at once affirmative experience and hard experience coexisted. 2) The method of married nurses' child rearing-[rearing politely] [raising understanding] [having the sense of family community] [rearing with praying the heart] [careless]-were induced. 3) The support system of married nurses' child rearing-[having help family] [having help from others]-were induced. According to the above findings, the married nursed showed affirmative responses about their experience of child rearing, but at the same time they expressed painful when stayed apart from their children on account of their job or when their children were sick. In the method of child rearing, they tried to grow their children polite because there was much time for them to stay apart from their children. And they tried to give a better explanation in order that their children can have an independence spirit. They tended to compensate through frequent physical touch with their children. As the support system of married nurses' child rearing, they asked their parents or their parents-in-law to take care of their children, hired a nursery governess in their houses, or used a children's home, if they can't afford to. That is, the only one who has a firm sense of her profession, tries to inspire her accomplishment, and is receiving her husband' love and understanding is considered to perform two things simultaneously with harmony, having an recognition of lifelong job. Suggestions 1. The method to solve mental troubles on child rearing should be groped. 2. Their economical burden should be reduced by establishing children's home in their working places, and the increase of maternal-infant interaction should be contrived. 3. The chance of education should be offered in order that married nurses themselves might inspire self-conceit and professionalism on clinical nursing. 4. The familiar mood should be created through planning the programs to be accompanied with children as an annual event in hospital. 5. The part-time nurse system should be suggested to utilize. 6. The system of circulation working should be converted into the system of fixing working according to the characteristic of each department. 7. Programs for special activities such as learning foreign languages and computer should be supported positively.

This study attempted to examine the significance of experience in the gifted class management. The participants of the this study were teachers of the science gifted classe in elementary school located in Seoul. The study was conducted in interviews with four teachers of the science gifted class that individually used their own gifted programs. The interviews were analyzed by applying a phenomenological method of analysis derived from Giorgi. Data collection focused on the feelings, thoughts, behaviors, and changes in life of the teachers of the gifted in order to analyze the experience of the research participants. As a result, 123 significant statements were deduced; based on these significant statements, 26 themes and 12 focal meanings were examined closely. Then, the focal meanings were combined to propose situated structural descriptions of the significance of experiences from the perspective of participants. At the same time, by integrating the situated structural descriptions of the individual participants, the experiences of the teachers of the science gifted class were organized as a general structural description. This study examined in depth the experiences of the teachers of the gifted who are the subjects of the gifted class management through a phenomenological method, and also attempted to examine what these teachers wanted on site and what their experiences with the gifted education meant to them. The implications in understanding the problems of the science gifted education in individual elementary schools and in improving the gifted class management were suggested.
