The purpose of this study was to examine the levels of depression experienced by Korean hospital nurses (N=198) and to identify discriminating factors of their depression experience among personal and environmental characteristics. Method: A cross-sectional survey design was used to answer the research questions. A sample consisted of 198 hospital nurses in Korea. The data were collected from May 1999 to March 2000. Descriptive and discriminant analyses were utilized. Result: Korean nurses experienced low levels of depression. Twenty nine percent of nurses in the study experienced depression based on the cut-point suggested by Radloff. Role ambiguity, working in the tertiary hospital, work satisfaction in autonomy, professional status and interaction within nurses were significant discriminating factors for nurses' depression. These factors correctly
Recent mass construction of high-rise apartments across the country are questionable whether this housing type is appropriate for Korean families as one of housing alternatives. Therefore, cross-cultural analysis is needed for the evaluation of high-rise apartment living. The purpose of this study is to identify factors related to the evaluation of residential satisfaction, and to examine the differences of satisfaction between Korean and American high-rise resident groups on these factors and personal characteristics. The review of literature and factor analysis identified six important environmental factors. 413 subjects were selected from the major two resident groups in major U.S. cities, and Seoul, Korea. An examination by major factors indicated that five except for neighborhood environmental qualities were significant relationship. It was also found that personal characteristics of these two groups were significantly different. Multiple-regression analysis found that both physical quality of dwelling unit and management/maintenance were important predictors of residential satisfaction.
Internet has begun various transformation and innovation in terms of society, culture and industry. Today, Social Network Service(SNS) is an exceedingly popular and useful tool for making human relationships. Previous studies related to SNS, which based on Technology Acceptance Model(TAM), were focused on user acceptance of new technology. However, they had the limitations to focus on technology acceptance, without the consideration of the cognitive factors in using SNS. This study examined how the main factors of intention to use of SNS continuously affect perceived usefulness and ease of use through familiarity, self-expression, hedonic shopping value, utilitarian shopping value and personal relationship. The results of hypothesis testing showed that familiarity, self-expression, hedonic shopping value and personal relationship have some positive impacts on the perceived usefulness and ease of use. The practical contribution of this study is to suggest useful decision alternatives concerned to marketing strategies for acquiring and retaining long-term customers related to SNS business.

The sample consisted of 792 married women living in Seoul. The statistical methods used for analysis included Reliability, Frequencies, Percent, Mean, Standard Deviation, Multiple Regression Analysis. The major results can be summarized as following 1) Among the sub-dimensions, the score of risk management is the most high, 39.00. 2) There are statistically significant differences in the levels and factors which influence on the financial management behavior to the 5 dimensions.(Korean J of Human Ecology 2(l) : 12-24, 1999)

Objectives: The purpose of this study is to identify the influencing factors of adolescents' life satisfaction. Methods: The data of the 6th Korean Child-Youth Panel Survey(KCYPS) was analyzed using the SPSS 24.0 and 24.0 AMOS program. Based on literature review, a hypothetical model consisted of six theoretical variables, twelve paths and seventeen measurable variables. Results: The modified model showed a goodness of fit to the empirical data(GFI=0.958, AGFI=0.940, NFI=0.945, RFI=0.931, TLI=0.904, RMSEA=0.055). Ten paths among twelve paths proved to statistically significant. Depression showed statistically significant effects on adolescents' life satisfaction directly. This study aimed to identify influencing factors such as job environment, job characteristics, and job competency as they are related to newcomer turnover intentions in the construction of landscape architecture, Korea. The results based on statistical analyses are follows as: The turnover experience of newcomers in the field of landscape architecture construction was 54.5%, about 1.6 times higher than in other fields. The influencing factors among newcomer turnover intentions in the construction of landscape architecture were workload(p<0.01), job suitability, and personal relations(p<0.01), while in job autonomy, work conditions, job competency, job identity, job variety, and job compensation were not statistically significant. This study found that key important factors of dependent variables that conceptually explain the influence of turnover intentions among newcomers differed between the construction of landscape architecture and other fields. The most important factors in turnover intention were workload>personal relationship>job suitability among independent factors. This study implied that efforts for improvement are needed in areas of workload, personal relations, and job suitability to mitigate newcomer turnover intentions so as to establish common and personal goals in the field of landscape architecture construction because turnover intention could lead losses in human resources, time, economy, and psychological health. In conclusion, this study suggested the importance of efforts for human resource management to reduce turnover intentions among newcomers in the field of landscape architecture construction.

This research examines the personal (i.e., Machiavellianism) and situational factors (i.e., tax climate) that are believed to be psychologically salient aspects in tax compliance. To the best of our knowledge, no research has been carried out to investigate the interaction effect of the two factors. This study uses a paper-and-pencil laboratory experiment 2x2 between-subject factorial design that involved 158 participants. The results indicate that a taxpayer who has a low Machiavellianism score or who is in a high synergistic tax climate reports a higher level of income. In the high synergistic tax climate, where tax norms apply, personal ethics do not play a significant role in tax compliance decisions. Where the synergistic relationship between taxpayer and authorities is low, personal ethics play an important role, i.e., low Machiavellians report a higher reported income than high Machiavellians do. This research contributes to the literature that deviates from the traditional model of tax compliance. Taxpayers are not always rational, but they might pay tax for reasons other than financial motives (Alm, 1991, 2018), that is, personal ethics in this study. This research implies the need for policymakers to consider other approaches rather than only relying on audits and fines.
