This study proposes a hybrid marine power system combining dual-fuel generators, a fuel cell, and Vanadium Redox Flow Batteries (VRFB). Rigorous verification and validation of the dynamic modelling and integration of the system are conducted. A case study for the application of the hybrid propulsion system to a passenger ship is conducted to examine its time-variant behaviour. A comprehensive model of the reversible and irreversible capacity degradation of the VRFB stack unit is proposed and validated. The capacity retention of the VRFB stack is simulated by being integrated within the hybrid propulsion system. Reversible degradation of the VRFB stack is precisely predicted and rehabilitated based on the predefined operational schedule, while the irreversible portion is retained until the affected components are replaced. Consequently, the advantages of the VRFB system as an on-board ESS are demonstrated through the application of a hybrid propulsion system for liner shipping with fixed routes.

Pedestrian movement of passengers using smart card within stations can be divided into three types of activities - straight ride and alight, line transfer, and station transfer. Straight ride and alight is transfer activity for which the card terminal and embarking line are identical. In this case, straight ride occurs at the origin station and straight alight occurs at the destination station. Line transfer refers to activity in which the subway line embarked on by the passenger is different from that which is disembarked. Succinctly, line transfer is transfer at a middle station, rather than at origin or destination stations. Station transfer occurs when the card terminal line and embarking line are different. It appears when station transfer happens at the origin station as starting transfer, and at the destination station as destination transfer. In the case of Metropolitan smart card data, origin and destination station card terminal line number data is recorded, but subway line data does not exist. Consequently, transportation card data, as it exists, cannot adequately be used to analyze pedestrian movement as a whole in subway stations. This research uses the smart card data, with its constraints, to propose an analysis model for passenger pedestrian movement within subway stations. To achieve this, a path selection model is constructed, which links origin and destination stations, and then applied for analysis. Finally, a case study of the metropolitan subway is undertaken and pedestrian volume analyzed.

Turbochargers are an effective device to reduce the fuel consumption. In this study, the mass flow rate of pulsating flow in the twin-scroll turbocharger for the gasoline engine of passenger vehicles was measured. Pulsating flow was achieved using a pulse generator and the mass flow rate of the unsteady pulsating flow was analyzed by comparing it with those of the steady flow. The pulse generator consisted of a rotating upper plate and a fixed lower plate. To measure the mass flow rate of unsteady flow, the orifice flow meter equipped with the difference pressure transducer was used. To analyze the low speed performance of the turbocharger, the measurement was carried out in the speed of turbocharger from 60,000rpm to 100,000rpm. The mass flow parameters of the unsteady pulsating flow showed a large difference compared to those of the steady flow. Those of the unsteady flow showed the hysteresis loop surrounding the mass flow parameters of the steady flow and the maximum variation of the mass flow parameters were 5.0 times those of the steady flow. This phenomenon is the result of the filling and emptying the turbine volute space due to pulsating flow.

The interior vehicle noise due to the exterior aerodynamic field is an important topic in the acoustic design of a car. The air flow detached from the A-pillar and impacting the side windows are of particular interest as they are located close to the driver / passenger and provides a lower insulation index than the trimmed car body parts. This paper presents a numerical analysis method for a simplified vehicle model. The internal air cavity including trim component are included in the simulation. The car body includes the windshield and two side windows. The body is made of aluminum and trimmed with porous layers. The methodology proposed in this paper relies on two steps: the first step involves the computation of the exterior flow and turbulence induced non-linear acoustic field using PowerFlow. The second step consists in the computation of the vibro-acoustic transmission through the window using the finite element vibro-acoustic solver Actran. Additionally in order to validate the numerical process, an experimental set-up has been created based on the simplified vehicle. The vibration of the windshield and windows, the total wind noise level results and the relative contributions of the different windows are then presented and compared to measurements. The influence of the flow yaw angle (different wind orientation) is also assessed.
This research was performed with emphasis on fire driven flow behavior and smoke exhaust efficiency which depend on the presence of PSD which are being installed domestically and overseas. For simulation, Jung-ang-ro station of Dae-gu subway station was chosen as model, and fire driven flow analysis was performed by using FDS as flow analysis code. Since many calculation time are required for calculation due to increase in the number of grid as the entire station is modeled, simulation was conducted in parallel processing technique. The fire driven flow analysis was analyzed case by case with composing fire scenario to compare fire driven flow and smoke exhaust efficiency changes depending on the presence of PSD. For fire scale, fire strength of 10MW was studied by referring to NFPA-l30. The calculation results were analyzed with focus on passenger safety by referring to NFPA-130.

The possibility of whether the induced wind from a vehicle traveling on highway can be used in wind power generation has been verified through computational flow analysis. The bus which is presumed to accompany relatively strong and wide range of induced wind compared to passenger vehicles because of its wide frontal area has been set as the subject of research. In order to ensure the reliability of research, the flow analysis surrounding the bus on a flat road where median strip is not installed has been compared with a preceding research while the validity of grid system and interpretation method used in this research have been assured by a qualitative method. In case of the median strip type wind power generator system, because it has been verified that a strong streamwise wind speed (5 m/s) is derived from the contraction effect of flow passage between the bus and the median strip while maintaining a relatively consistent upwind wind speed (1.4 m/s) in vertical direction in the wake area after the bus passes by although the change of wind speed is intense, it was decided as having some possibility of wind power generation. In case of the traffic sign panel type wind power generator system installed at the upper top of highway, because the wind speed of 2 m/s level has been derived for a limited time only at a section equal to the length of the bus and a faint induced wind speed less than 0.5 m/s was shown at other regions, it was decided as having almost no possibility of wind power generation.
In this study, the flow analysis of air in the inner side of vehicle due to the position on inlet port of air at car was carried out. Under the comfortable condition as the inlet port in which the air flows, it was possible to confirm that the inlets became the upper and middle sides or the forward side of the vehicle. If the air flow is not evenly distributed within the vehicle, the lower position of the vehicle is the lowest condition among all conditions. The results of this study will help to keep the inner state of the vehicle pleasant by adjusting the location of the inlet to suit the passenger's taste or situation. The design and analysis results of this study can be effectively applied at adjusting the location of the inlet at car. By applying the flow analysis according to the inlet port of air at car, this paper is seen as the convergence study that conforms to aesthetic design.

This study examined the change in driving performance according to the starting position of the rear diffuser of a vehicle. To accomplish this, the CATIA 3D design program was used to model the vehicle with reference to a commercial SUV vehicle and design the rear diffuser to start from 300, 400, and 500 mm from the rear tire. The flow and drag change were analyzed and the change in air flow was confirmed using Fluent, a flow analysis program at a vehicle traveling speed of 60, 100, and 140 km/h. The rear diffuser reduced the lift and drag forces compared to no diffuser regardless of the starting position. This is because if there is a rear diffuser, it will reduce the vortex phenomenon by suppressing the flow separation that occurs when air is drawn out from the rear portion of the vehicle. In this study, the starting point SP 400 was determined to be the optimal condition because the lift force was the smallest at SP 400 and the lift reduction effect was the best.

Recently, the international regulations about the exhaust emissions of the motorcycle have been strengthened. The electrically controlled fuel injection type motorcycle has been emphasized to meet with this regulation. However, since the pulsation phenomenon happens in the intake port of the motorcycle because of the characteristic of high speed and the smaller layout than the passenger car, there are many difficulties to select the factor about control parameters needed to develop the ECU system. In this paper, the pulsation values measured from the engine test were compared with the calculated one by WAVE, and it was analyzed the pulsation characteristic according to the driving condition and estimated the mass flow rate. This research showed that the lowest point of the pressure gets lowin the low load and the pulsation of pressure were increased in the high load. Also, the simulation program was verified by showing good prediction of the pulsation and air mass flow rate.
