This paper considers the method of elimination harmonics in AC/DC converters, There are few practical methods to reduce the harmonics in AC/DC converters, particularly in filter design and control strategy. In this paper, a harmonic elimination methods are proposed, which includes hybrid PWM control strategy. These methods achieve precise output control along with the optimum performance simultaneously. The control method in this paper is developed to eliminate a fixed number of harmonics in AC to DC converter. The higher order harmonics can be easily eliminated by using filter proposed in this paper. The validity of these methods is confirmed experimentally.
This paper is concerned with a zero-voltage soft-switching PWM DC-DC high-pelter converter using IGBTs, which Bakes the most of the parastic LC parameters of high-voltage transformer link, for diagnostic X-Ray power generator. The converter circuit basically utilizes phase-shift pulse width modulated series resonant full-bridge PWM DC-DC high-Power converter operating at a constant frequency:20kHz. This technique brings about dramatic decreases in the switching losses of power devices and their electrical stresses as compared with the commonly-used hard-switching PWM DC-DC power converter. The high-frequency switching operation of the converters has some effective advantages, which consist in the physical reduction in size and weight and lowered acoustic noise.
This paper proposes the feedforward compensation method of output voltage with 3phase AC/DC PWM converter on DC distribution system for improved response. AC/DC PWM converter on DC distribution is required power supply of high quality because of renewable energy sources and load links. In general, Feedforward compensation method of 3phase AC/DC PWM converter receives the sensor input to the output current, load power. Resulting, error of the sensing values and communication cause time delay. Therefore, Feedforward compensation method through only the output voltage is proposed in this paper. The feedforward compensation method through only the output voltage can be applied to the two-level AC/DC PWM converters, as well as multi-level converter or inverter.
Single phase converters suffer from ripple power pulsating at twice the line frequency. The ripple power is usually absorbed by a bulky capacitor bank and/or a dedicative LC resonant link, resulting in a low power density and a high cost. An alternative solution is using a dc link active power filter (APF) to direct the pulsating power into another energy-storage component. The main dc link filter capacitor can then be reduced substantially. Based on a mainstream dc APF topology, this paper proposed a new control strategy incorporating both dual-loop control and repetitive control. The circuit parameter design is also re-examined from a control point of view. The proposed APF scheme has better control performance, and is more suited for high power applications since it works in CCM and with a low switching frequency.
Input-series-output-parallel (ISOP) connected DC-DC converters enable low voltage rating switches to be used in high voltage input applications. In this paper, a DSP is adopted to generate digital phase-shifted PWM signals and to fulfill the closed-loop control function for ISOP connected two full-bridge DC-DC converters. Moreover, a stable output current sharing control strategy is proposed for the system, with which equal sharing of the input voltage and the load current can be achieved without any input voltage control loops. Based on small signal analysis with the state space average method, a loop gain design with the proposed scheme is made. Compared with the conventional IVS scheme, the proposed strategy leads to simplification of the output voltage regulator design and better static and dynamic responses. The effectiveness of the proposed control strategy is verified by the simulation and experimental results of an ISOP system made up of two full-bridge DC-DC converters.
This paper proposes a pulse width modulation (PWM)-based sliding mode controller (SMC) for a full-bridge DC-DC converter that can eliminate static output voltage error. Hysteretic SMC in DC-DC converter does not have a fixed switching frequency, and applying hysteretic SMC to full-bridge converters is difficult. Fixed-frequency SMC, which is also called PWM-based SMC, based on equivalent control overcomes these shortcomings. However, the controller order reduction in equivalent control in PWM-based SMC causes static output voltage error. To resolve this issue, an integral item is added to the PWM-based SMC. Sliding mode coefficients are designed by applying a standard second-order system to the sliding mode surface. The effect of adding an integral item on the controller is analyzed, and an integral coefficient design method is proposed. Experiment results on a three-level full-bridge DC-DC converter verify the control scheme and design method proposed in this paper.
Recently DC-DC converters significantly increase the total losses as rising switching frequency. Traditional soft switching technique for reducing switching losses even increase voltage/current stress of switch. In this paper Resonant circuit for soft switching is connected in parallel with power stage and only operates just before turn-on of the main operates just before turn-on of the main switch, Therefore This doesn't affect the total circuit operation. ZNT-PWM converter designed with 170-260V input 4--V 5A output and 100kHz switching frequency is tested respectively with 500W. 1kW, 1.5kW, and 2kW loads.
In this paper, three kinds of PWM strategies for a three-phase current-fed dc/dc converter are proposed and compared in terms of losses and voltage transfer ratio. Each PWM strategy is described graphically and their switching losses are analyzed. With the proposed PWM C strategy, one turn-off switching of each bridge switch is eliminated to reduce switching losses under the same switching frequency. In addition, RMS current through the bridge switches is lowered by using parallel connection between two bridge switches and thus, conduction losses of the switches are reduced. Further, copper losses of the transformer are decreased due to the reduced RMS current of each transformer's winding. Therefore, total losses are minimized and the efficiency of the converter is improved by using the proposed PWM C strategy. Digital signal processor (DSP: TI320LF2407) and a field-programmable gate array (FPGA: EPM7128) board are used to generate PWM patterns for three-phase bridge and clamp MOSFETs. A 500W prototype converter is built and its experimental results verify the validity of the proposed PWM strategies.
