산소분압비에 따른 ITO/PET박막의 특성변화 (Characteristic Changes of ITO/PET Thin Films with Ratio of Oxygen Partial Pressure)

  • ITO (indium tin oxide) thin films on PET (polyethylene terephthalate) substrate have been deposited by a dc reactive magnetron sputtering without heat treatments such as substrate heater and post heat treatment. Each sputtering parameter during the sputtering deposition is an important factor for the high quality of ITO thin films deposited on polymeric substrate. Particularly, the material, electrical and optical properties of as-deposited ITO oxide films are dominated by the ratio of oxygen partial pressure. As the experimental results, the excellent ITO films are prepared on PET substrate at the operating conditions as follows: operating pressure of 5 mTorr,target-substrate distance of 45 mm, dc power of 20-30 W, and oxygen gas ratio of 10 %. The optical transmittance is above 80 % at 550 nm, and the sheet resistance and resistivity of films are $24\;{\Omega}$/square and $1.5{\times}10^{-3}\;cm$, respectively.

  • ITO thin films have been deposited on PET substrate by reactive dc magnetron sputtering without substrate heater and post heat treatment. The electrical and optical properties of as-deposited films are dominated by oxygen gas ratio. As the experimental results, the excellent ITO films are prepared on PET substrate at the operating conditions as follows: operating pressure of 5 mTorr, target-substrate distance of 4.5 cm, dc power of $20{\sim}30W$, and oxygen gas ratio of 10 %. The optical transmittance is above 80 % at 550 nm, and the sheet resistance and resistivity of films are $24{\Omega}$/square and $1.5{\times}10^{-3}{\Omega}cm$, respectively.

TiO2 광촉매를 함유한 PET와 나일론 6 나노복합체막의 자외선/오존에 대한 안정성 (The UV/Ozone Stability of PET and Nylon 6 Nanocomposite Films Containing TiO2 Photocatalysts)

  • This study is to assess the photocatalytic degradation of PET and Nylon 6 films containing nano-sized $TiO_2$ powders of anatase and rutile types. The PET and Nylon 6 films containing six kinds of the nanoparticles were prepared by melt casting method using a heating press machine. Reflectance in visible region and water contact angles of the irradiated PET and Nylon 6 composite films decreased with increasing UV/$O_3$ irradiation. Also the enhanced hydrophilicity has a close relationship with the increase in the Lewis base parameter, which indicates more oxidized polymer surfaces. The photocatalytic degradation of the nanocomposite films increased with increasing $TiO_2$ content and UV energy, which is more significant with the anatase types rather than the rutile types. The amide linkages in the Nylon 6 seemed to be more susceptible to the UV light compared to the ester groups in the PET, particularly in the presence of the $TiO_2$ photocatalysts. The photoscission and photodegradation of the polymers in the composites produced more degraded structure assisted by the photocatalytic activity of the $TiO_2$ nanoparticles. Also the composite films can bleach the methylene blue dyes more easily under the UV/$O_3$ irradiation, suggesting the photobleaching activity of the $TiO_2$ nanoparticles.

Development of Capacitive-type Pressure Mapping Sensor using Printing Technology

  • In this study, I developed a simple and low cost process-printing a silver, carbon, dielectric, adhesive layer on PET films using screen printing technology and bonding the two films face-to-face-to fabricate a low price capacitive pressure-mapping sensor. Both electrodes forming the pressure measuring capacitor are arranged between the two PET films similar to a sandwich. Therefore, the sensor has the advantage of minimizing the influence of external noise. In this study, a $10{\times}10$ capacitance-type pressure-mapping sensor was fabricated and its characteristics were analyzed.

  • As a simulation of solvent-assisted dyeing, the solvent effects on the structure of polyethylene terephthalate(PET) film treated by dimethylformamide(DMF) were investigated. The effects were evaluated by the atomic force microscopy(AFM) topographical changes and FT-IR spectrum analysis. PET films treated with DMF at $70^{\circ}C$ for several different treatment time(20, 40, and 60 min). AFM topography showed that, with increasing treatment time by DMF, PET surfaces became smooth due to the swelling phenomenon and the rigid structure changed into flexible state which was contributed to increase the surface area of PET films. FT-IR spectrum analysis showed that DMF and molecular chains of PET interacted each other via their polar carbonyl groups and that DMF also affected the out-of-plane bending vibration mode of phenyl ring of PET.

  • 테레프탈산 (terephthalic acid), 비스페놀에이 (bisphenol-A)와 에틸렌글리콜 (ethyleneglycol)로 제조된 PET/BPA 공중합체를 용융 압축시켜 필름을 만들어 얼음물에 급냉시켰다. 이 공중합체 필름을 모세관 레오메타로 고상 압출시켜 연신 필름을 만들었다. 이 연신된 필름의 수축율, 결정성, 형태학, 열적, 동역학적 및 기계적 특성을 조사하였다. 공중합체 필름의 융점은 순수 폴리에틸렌테레프탈레이트(PET)보다 낮게 나타났다. 또한 결정화도와 밀도는 연신비와 연신속도의 증가와 더불어 증가하였으나, 연신온도 증가와 더불어 감소하였다. 공중합체 필름의 인장강도와 인장탄성률은 연신비 증가와 더불어 증가하였고, 연신온도 증가에 따라 감소하였다. 연신된 공중합체 필름의 수축율은 연신비와 연신속도가 증가할수록 감소하였다.

  • ITO films on PET substrate were prepared by DC magnetron sputtering method using powdery target with different deposition conditions. In addition, the electrical and optical properties were investigated. As the sputtering power and working pressure were higher, the resistvity of ITO films increased. The optical transmittance deteriorated with increasing sputtering power and thickness. As the working pressure increased, however, the optical transmittance improved at visible region of light. From these results, we could deposited ITO films with 8${\times}$10$^{-3}$ $\Omega$-cm of resistivity and 80 % of transmittance at optimal conditions.

유연성 기판 위에 증착된 ITO 박막의 공정 온도에 따른 전기적·광학적 특성 평가 (Characterization of the Crystallized ITO Thin Films Grown at Different Temperatures by Off-axis RF Magnetron Sputtering)

  • Off-axis magnetron sputtering was used for the crystallized ITO thin films deposition at various temperatures from 25 to $120^{\circ}C$. The ITO thin films were crystallized at $50^{\circ}C$ for Si (001) substrates and at $75^{\circ}C$ for PET substrate. The ITO thin films grown onto PET substrate at $120^{\circ}C$ were crystallized with a (222) preferred orientation. The 160-nm thick ITO films showed a resistivity of about $7{\times}10^{-4}{\Omega}{\cdot}cm$ and a transmittance of about 84% at a wavelength of 550 nm. Off-axis sputtering can be applied for low temperature crystallization of the ITO films.
