The Fuzzy Preview Control (FPC) design methodology using I-PD Preview Control (IPC) and Optimal Preview Control (OPC)[6] are discussed in this paper. First we show a new fuzzy controller with single input single output, and build a relationship between it and the I-PD Control proposed by Kitamari, as well as Optimal Control with some specific equations. We also give the stability analysis with Lyapunov theorem. On this way, we can design a Fuzzy I-PD Controller (FIC) very easier and more effective. Then, preview control element design methodology of FCP was given according to IPC and OPC. Third, to make the system more rapidly and more little overshooting, two factors are given to adjust the controller's properties. At last, the performance of FPC is revealed via computer simulation using a nonlinear plant.

Because the previous simulation tool for attitude control of satellite was designed for the modeling of rigid body and PD controller, the attitude error can be made more than the limitation value for keeping for communication link, and then the communication link can be lost at moving of satellite. So, for rapid attitude restoration and design of stable and modernized controller, the modelling of rigid body and flexible body structure for moving GEO and LEO satellites were performed. Also the minimum time controller is designed for the rapid restoration of attitude error at communication broken and to minimize the disconnection period from ground communication system during the satellite stationkeeping. The linear regulator is designed using the space state vector that is better than accuracy and stability of PD controller. Firstly the simulation was performed for comparison of the rigid and stability of PD controller. Firstly the simulation was performed for comparison of the rigid and flexible models using PD controller and the case of the pitch angle changing by ground command, and the case of the periodic north-south stationkeeping are performed for the analysis of response characteristics of each controller when the attitude is changed. As a result, the flexible body model represents more sililar results of real situation than the rigid body model. The minimum time controller can restore 7 times rapidly than PD controller for its lost attitude. The linear regulator has several merits for capability of adaptation against the external disturbance, stability and response time. In future, we can check the estimated results using this satellite model and controller for real operation. Futhermore the development of new controller and training can be supported.
In this study, a sliding mode (SM) controller for dynamic positioning (DP) was specifically designed for a turret connection operation of a ship or an offshore structure in which an arbitrary point on the structure could be controlled as the motion center instead of the center of mass. The SM controller allows control of the arbitrary point and provides capability to manage uncertainties in the dynamics of ships and offshore structures, external forces caused by unknown changing marine environments, and transient performance of DP systems. The Jacobian matrix included in kinematic equations of the controlled object was modified to design the SM controller to control based on an arbitrary point of ships or offshore structures. To ensure robustness of the controller, the Lyapunov stability theory was applied in the design of the SM controller. In general, for robustness in DP control, gain scheduling based on a proportional-derivative (PD) control algorithm is employed. However, finding appropriate gains for gain scheduling complicates the application of DP systems. Therefore, in this study, the SM control algorithm was considered to mitigate the complexity of the DP controller for ships and offshore structures. To validate the proposed SM control algorithm, time-domain simulations were conducted and utilized to evaluate the performance of the control algorithm. The effectiveness of the proposed SM controller was assessed by comparing simulation results with results of a conventional PD control algorithm applied in DP control.

Switching controllers for active magnetic bearings are claimed to minimize the copper losses because they do not use bias currents. In this study, we compare the performances of the switching controller with those of the widely used proportional-derivative (PD) controller. The PD controller is combined with a synchronous notch filter to reduce the effect of the unbalance disturbance. For a fair and objective comparison, the PD controller is designed systematically. The switching controller is designed so that the dynamics of the two controllers are almost identical. A system model is developed. This model includes the flexible modes of the rotor and the dynamics of the sensors and amplifiers. The simulation results show that the switching controller indeed reduces the copper loss at lower speeds. However, it fails to operate around the speed close to the bending mode of the rotor.

For linear time-varying systems described by the triple (A(t),B(t),C(t)) where A(t),B(t),C(t) are the system, the input, and the output matrices, respectively, we propose concepts for measures of modal and gross controllability /observability. We introduce a differential algebraic eigenbvalue theory for linear time-varying systems to calculate the PD-eigenvalues and left and right PD-eigenvectors of the system matrix A(t) which will be used to derive the concepts for the measures. The time-dependent angle between the left PD-eigenvectors of the system matrix A(t) and the columns of the input matrix B(t), and the magnitude of the each element of the input matrix B(t) are used to propose the modal controllability measure. Similarly, the time-dependent angle between the right PD-eigenvectors of the system matrix A(t) and the rows of the output matrix C(t) are used to propose the madal observability measure. Gross measure of controllability of a mode from all inputs and its gross measure of observability in all outputs for the linear time-varying systems are also proposed. Numerical examples are presented to illustrate the proposed concepts.

This study proposes a method for improvement of PD type fuzzy controller. The method includes self tuner using gradient algorithm that is one of the optimization algorithms. The proposed controller improves simple Takagi-Sugeno type FLC (Fuzzy Logic Control) system. The simple Takagi-Sugeno type FLC system changes nonlinear characteristic to linear parameters of consequent membership function. The simple FLC system could control the system by calibrating parameter of consequent membership function that changes the system response. While the determination on parameter of the simple FLC system works well only partially, the proposed method is needed to determine parameters that work for overall response. The simple FLC system doesn't predict the response characteristics. While the simple FLC system works just like proportional part of PID, our system includes derivative part to predict the next response. The proposed controller is constructed with P part and D part FLC system that characteristic parameter on system response is changed by self tuner for effective response. Since the proposed controller doesn't include integral part, it can't eliminate steady state error. So we include a gain to eliminate the steady state error.

In underwater environment, the control of AUV is difficult, because of the existence of parameter uncertainties and disturbances as well as highly nonlinear and coupled system dynamics. The requirement for the simple and robust controller which works satisfactorily in those dynamical uncertainties, call for a design using the PD or sliding mode controller. The PD controller is very popular controller in the industrial field and the sliding mode controller has been used successfully for the AUV controller design. In this paper, the two controllers arc designed for ISiMI(Integrated Submergible Intelligent Mission Implementation) AUV and the performances are compared by numerical simulation under the modeling uncertainty and disturbances. The design process of PD and sliding mode controller for ISiMI AUV and simulation results are included to compare the performances of the two controllers.
In this paper, we consider a physics-based 2D flight simulation game where users can easily control realistic flight of a vehicle equipped with two thrusters that allow vertical takeoff and vertical landing. The flight vehicle can be manipulated by directly controlling the thrusting force at each thruster using a pair of analog input devices such as joysticks. However, it might require too much practice to make aerobatic flying solely with this kind of control. We propose a set of fly-by-wire methods that provide easy-to-use, intuitive control of a VTVL vehicle. Based on PD controllers, the proposed methods allow users to specify the velocity or position of the vehicle directly. Furthermore, they are easy to understand and simple to implement. We expect that the proposed vehicle model and control mechanism could be used in various 2D games.

In recent research on the fuzzy controller, the crisp type fuzzy controller model, in which the consequent part of the fuzzy control rules are crisp real numbers instead of fuzzy sets, due to its simplicity in calculation, has been widely used in various applications. In this paper we try to analyze the dynamical behavior of the crisp type fuzzy controller with both inference methods of min-max compositional rule and product-sum inference. The analysis reveals that a crisp type fuzzy controller behaves approximately like a PD controller.
In this paper, we propose tuning method of PID-PD controller to satisfy design specifications in frequency domain as well as time domain. The proposed tuning method of PID-PD controller that consist of the convex set of PID and PI-PD controller controls the closed-loop response to locate between the step responses, and Bode magnitudes of closed-loop transfer functions controlled by PID and PI-PD controller. The controller is designed by the optimum tuning method to minimize the proposed specific cost function subject to sensor noise insensitivity and robust stability. Its effectiveness is examined by the case study and analysis.
