Experimental study on replaceable precast concrete beam-column connections

  • The purpose of this study was to develop a system capable of restoring the seismic performance of a precast concrete (PC) connection damaged by an earthquake. The developed PC connection consists of a top-and-seat angle, post-tensioning (PT) tendons, and U-shaped steel. The PC beam can be replaced by cutting the PT tendons in the event of damage. In addition, the seismic performance of the developed PC beam-column connection was evaluated experimentally. A PC beam-column connection specimen was fabricated, and a quasistatic cyclic loading test was conducted to a maximum drift ratio of 2.3%. Subsequently, the PC beam was replaced by a new PC beam, and the repaired PC connection was loaded to a maximum drift ratio of 5.1%. The structural performance of the repaired PC connection was then compared with that of the original PC connection. The difference in the load at the drift ratio of 2.3% between the original and the repaired PC specimens was only 0.2%. The residual drift ratio in the repaired PC specimen did not exceed 1.0% at the 2.0 % drift ratio cycles, which satisfies the life safety performance level specified in ACI 374.2R-13. When the developed PC connection system is used, structural performance can be restored by rapidly replacing the damaged elements.

프리캐스트 콘크리트 모듈러 보 시스템의 휨 성능에 대한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on Flexural Performance of Precast Concrete Modular Beam Systems)

  • Precast concrete (PC) modules have been increased its use in modular buildings due to their better seismic performance than steel modules. The main issue of the PC module is to ensure structural performance with appropriate connection methods. This study proposed a PC modular beam system for simple construction and improved structural and splicing performance. This modular system consisted of modules with steel plates inserted, and it is easy to construct by bolted connection. The steel plates play the role of tensile rebar and stirrup, which has the advantage of structural performance. The structural performance of the proposed PC modular beam system was evaluated by flexural test on one reinforced concrete (RC) beam specimen consisting of a monolithic, and two PC specimens with the proposed PC modular beam system. The results demonstrated that the proposed PC modular beam system achieved approximately 86% of the structural performance compared to the RC monolithic specimen, with similar ductility of approximately 1.06 fold greater.

연결 플레이트를 사용한 프리캐스트 콘크리트 모듈러 보의 전단성능 (Shear Behaviour of Precast Concrete Modular Beam Using Connecting Plate)

  • The Precast concrete(PC) modular structures are a method of assembling pre-fabricated unit modules in the construction site. The essential aim of modular structures is to introduce a connection method that can ensure splicing performance and effectively resist shear strength. This study proposed PC module using a connecting plate that can replace splice sleeves and shear keys used in the conventional PC modular structures. To evaluate the splicing performance and shear capacity of the proposed method, the shear test was conducted by fabricating one monolithic reinforced concrete(RC) beam and two PC modular beams with a shear span-to-depth ratio as variables. The experimental results showed that the shear capacity of the PC modular beam was about 89% compared to that of the RC beam, and showed a failure of the RC beam according to the shear span-to-depth ratio. Therefore, it was considered that the connecting plate effectively transferred the stress between each PC module through the joint and ensure integrity. In addition, the applicability of shear strength equation of ACI 318-19 and Zsutty's equation to PC modular beams were evaluated. Results demonstrated that the improved shear strength equations are needed to consider reduction of shear strength in PC modules.

  • Estimating the construction period at the initial stage of the project and determining whether it is appropriate is very important for the developer's decision-making and the success of the construction company's business. Existing researchers have conducted various studies to calculate the appropriate construction period, but there is no study on the influencing factors and methodology for the construction period of beam-column PC apartment building frame construction. The purpose of this study is to calculate the PC member assembly time using the mathematical algorithm of PC member assembly. The results of this study can be used as basic data to calculate the construction date of the standard floor of PC construction.

Research on static and dynamic behaviors of PC track beam for straddle monorail transit system

  • In this study, in-situ static and dynamic tests of four pre-stressed concrete (PC) track beams with different span lengths and curvatures in a straddle monorail transit system were reported. In the static load tests, the strain and deflection at critical sections of the PC track beams were measured to determine the load bearing capacity and stiffness. The dynamic responses of strain, deflection, acceleration, and displacement at key positions of the PC track beams were measured under different train speeds and train loads to systematically study the dynamic behaviors of the PC track beams. A three-dimensional finite element model of the track beam-vehicle coupled vibration system was established to help understand the dynamic behavior of the system, and the model was verified using the test results. The research results show that the curvature, span length, train speed, and train loads have significant influence on the dynamic responses of the PC track beams. The dynamic performance of the PC track beams in the curve section is susceptible to dynamic loads. Appropriate train loads can effectively reduce the impact of the train on the PC track beam. The PC track beams allow good riding comfort.

PC 큰 보-PC 작은 보 접합부의 전단성능 평가 (Evaluation of Shear Capacity on PC Girder-PC Beam Joint)

  • 본 연구는 PC 작은 보의 댑단부와 PC 큰 보의 레져에 대한 전단성능을 평가하기 위한 전단 구조성능 실험연구이다. 일반적으로 작은 보의 댑단부와 큰 보의 레져는 사용하중에 안전하도록 설계하고 있지만, 작은 보의 단부를 연속단으로 설계한다면 작은보의 댑단부와 큰 보의 레져는 고정하중과 시공하중에만 안전하도록 설계할 수 있다. 이에 대한 구조성능을 평가하기 위하여 행거철근 정착방법, 설계하중, 레져보강근유무를 변수로 총 7개 실험체를 제작하여 전단실험을 실시하였다. 실험결과, 댑단부 및 레져가 으로 설계되어도 작은 보의 연속성은 확보될 수 있는 것으로 나타났으며, 전단 임계단면은 지지점으로부터 유효높이(d)만큼 떨어진 위치에서 형성된 후 댑단부로 진전되었다. 그리고 PCI 핸드북에서 레져를 설계할 때 캔틸레버 슬래브와 같은 구조일 때로 해석하고 있는데, 본 공법에서의 레져는 3변 고정 슬래브와 같은 구조이므로 PCI 핸드북에서 정의하는 방법은 본 공법의 레져를 과대설계할 가능성이 있는 것으로 사료된다.

관통형 연결재로 연결된 PC 보-기둥 맞댐 접합의 내진성능에 관한 실험적 연구 (Seismic Performance of Precast Beam-Column Joints with Thru-Connectors)

  • 건식공법이 가능하도록 기존의 접합 방식과 차별화 되는 PC 보-기둥 접합부를 개발하여 실용화하기 위한 기초 연구이다. 연속된 PC 기둥 양편에 위치한 보의 접합 단부를 고강도 관통형 연결재로 긴장하여 연결하는 'PC 보-기둥 맞댐 접합(BCJ_TB : precast beam column joints connected with thru-connects)'을 고안하고 실험적 연구를 수행하여 강도저하, 초기강성, 강성저하, 에너지소산능력 등의 내진성능을 분석하였다. 실험 결과에 기둥에서는 손상이 발생하지 않고 보 단부에서 압축파괴가 발생하는데, 이는 비부착 연결재의 초기긴장과 비부착 효과에 의하여 보 단부 콘크리트에 압축응력이 증가하기 때문인 것으로 분석되었다. 보 접합 단부에 CFRP로 구속 효과를 준 접합부의 성능이 상대적으로 우수하였고 네오프렌 패드로 보 기둥 접합면을 연결한 것이 다른 것에 비하여 초기강성을 제외하고는 우수한 내진성능을 보이는 것으로 분석되었다. 비부착 연결재를 사용한 접합부의 파괴모드를 개선하기 위하여 보 단부 콘크리트의 압축 성능을 향상시키고, 연결재의 변위를 적절히 조절할 수 있는 방법이 요구된다.

부분PC 보-기둥 접합부의 전단 마찰 거동에 관한 실험 연구 (An Experimental Research on the Shear Friction Behavior of Beam-Column Joints of Partial Precast Concrete Structures)

  • 일반적으로 부분 PC 구조에서는 기둥, 보, 그리고 하프 PC 슬래브 등을 공장에서 제작하여 현장에서 조립한 후에 덧침 콘크리트의 타설에 의하여 일체화한다. 따라서 PC 부재가 연결되는 위치에서의 불연속면과 함께 PC 부재의 조립을 위한 걸침길이 확보와 같은 접합부 형상 등으로 인하여 접합부 보강을 위한 구조설계가 필요하다. 보-기둥 접합부에서 발생하는 PC 부재와 덧침 콘크리트 사이의 접합면에서 전단력 전달 성능은 접합부의 구조 성능에 큰 영향을 미치게 된다. 서로 다른 두 개의 부재가 만나는 면에서는 부재간의 미끄러짐(slip) 현상과 전단력이 발생되는데, 본 연구에서의 접합면 전단에 대해서는 실험을 수행하고 실험결과에 대해 ACI 기준 및 PCI 설계식을 활용하여 검토하였다. 보-기둥 접합부에 대한 접합면 전단 설계를 ACI 기준 또는 PCI 설계법에 따라 검토한다면, 구조성능을 확보할 수 있는 것으로 확인되었다. 또한 실험결과를 고찰하면 보-기둥 접합부에서 PC 보의 걸침길이를 30mm로 하여도 구조적인 문제는 없는 것으로 판단된다.

Project level에서의 철도 PC Beam교량의 경년열화모델구성 및 유지관리비용 추정 (Time-Dependent Degradation Model and Maintenance Cost of Rail line PC Beam Bridge in Project Level)

  • Construction project have extremely high risk in the process of construction owing to unexpected event, like as design amendment. As a result, owner have to endure enormous extra-cost to control the risk and continue to the project having more higher uncertainty. Also, if the structure is completed, it is needed that the structure is protected and maintained continuously during life cycle time to satisfying original aim of structure itself. LCC analysis to calculate cost of structure alternatives divides into two stage, one is design_LCC and the other is maintenace_LCC. But two stages all is needed in the transition deterioration model to calculate more reasonable LCC analysis. This paper developed the model using analysis of FMS contents and survey from professional about Prestressed concrete beam girder bridge(PC Beam bridge)in railway. The model is focused in project level of PC beam because any condition state information for element level analysis can not get up. This paper is intended to use the developed model in LCC analysis of PC Beam bridge in railway and constitute the foundation to perform more deep study in the near future.

Seismic performance of self-sustaining precast wide beam-column connections for fast construction

  • Fast-built construction is a key feature for successful applications of precast concrete (PC) moment frame system in recent construction practices. To this end, by introducing some unique splicing details in precast connections, especially between PC columns including panel zones, use of temporary supports and bracings can be minimized based on their self-sustaining nature. In addition, precast wide beams are commonly adopted for better economic feasibility. In this study, three self-sustaining precast concrete (PC) wide beam-column connection specimens were fabricated and tested under reversed cyclic loadings, and their seismic performances were quantitatively evaluated in terms of strength, ductility, failure modes, energy dissipation and stiffness degradation. Test results were compared with ASCE 41-17 nonlinear modeling curves and its corresponding acceptance criteria. On this basis, an improved macro modeling method was explored for a more accurate simulation. It appeared that all the test specimens fully satisfy the acceptance criteria, but the implicit joint model recommended in ASCE 41-17 tends to underestimate the joint shear stiffness of PC wide beam-column connection. While, the explicit joint model along with concentrated plastic hinge modeling technique is able to present better accuracy in simulating the cyclic responses of PC wide beam-column connections.
