Design of a Fuzzy P+ID controller for brushless DC motor speed control

  • The PID type controller has been widely used in industrial application due to its simply control structure, ease of design, and inexpensive cost. However, control performance of the PID type controller suffers greatly from high uncertainty and nonlinearity of the system, large disturbances and so on. This paper presents a hybrid fuzzy logic proportional plus conventional integral derivative controller (fuzzy P+ID). In comparison with a conventional PID controller, only one additional parameter has to be adjusted to tune the fuzzy P+ID controller. In this case, the stability of a system remains unchanged after the PID controller is replaced by the fuzzy P+ID controller without modifying the original controller parameters. Finally, the proposed hybrid fuzzy P+ID controller is applied to BLDC motor drive. Simulation results demonstrated that the control performance of the proposed controller is better than that of the conventional controller.

  • In this paper presents approaches to the design of a hybrid fuzzy logic proportional plus conventional integral- derivative(fuzzy P+ID) controller in an incremental form. This controller is constructed by using an incremental fuzzy logic controller in place of the proportional term in a conventional PID controller.   • In this paper, authors will develop the quick and precise remote controller of automatic fire detection equipment (P-type one-class receiver) based on information communication technology (IT). The remote controller detects the fire and disaster in the building automatically and quickly and then activates the facilities to extinguish the fire and disaster, monitoring such situation in a real time through wire-wireless communication network. The proposed remote controller is applied a programmable logic device (PLD) micom. of one-chip type which is small size and lightweight and also has highly sensitive-precise reliabilities. The one-chip type PLD micom. analyzes digital signals from sensors, then activates fire extinguishing facilities for alarm and rapid suppression in a case of fire and disaster. The detected data is also transferred to a remote situation room through wire-wireless network of RS232c and bluetooth communication, and then the situation room sends an emergency alarm signal. The automatic fire detection equipment (AFDE) based on IT will minimize the life and wealth loss while prevents fire and disaster.

  • An LQ controller design method is proposed for effective anti-sway control of boom type crane in this paper. It is important for high productivity that the sway of a load is controlled as fast as possible when the trolley arrives to the destination with maximum velocity. To prove the effectiveness of the proposed LQ controller. simulations and experiments using the boom type crane as experimental device is carried out. Tracking performance for a step type reference and robustness for the change of working environment such as the change of load weight and parameters produced by a wire rope and disturbance by the wind arc proved by the experiment. It will be examined that boom type crane can be applied to industrial fields through experiment in this paper.

PSO-Based Nonlinear PI-type Controller Design for Boost Converter

  • This paper designs a nonlinear PI-type controller for the robust control of a boost DC-DC converter using a particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm. Based on the common knowledge that the transient responses can be improved if the P and I gains increase when the transient error is big, a nonlinear PI-type control design method is developed. A design procedure to autotune the nonlinear P and I gains is given based on a PSO algorithm. The proposed nonlinear PI-type controller is implemented in real time on a Texas Instruments TMS320F28335 floating-point DSP. Simulation and experimental results are given to demonstrate the effectiveness and practicality of the proposed method.

  • In this study, We developed the microprocessor based controller for Auto Section Switch(ASS). This is installed at consumer's medium-high voltage(load capacity is below 4,000 kVA) switchgear. This function is cooperate with protection device of fault section and automatically dividing the section. And It is designed by Air putter type extinction structure and adopt the mechanism and breaking part module of existing Load Breaker Switch. In addition, We successfully conducted the operation test and checked main function of proto-type.

  • The state feedback-based position controller for the voice coil motor(VCM) used in precise automated manufacturing processes is proposed and analyzed in this paper. The proposed controller has advantage over the conventional cascade-type P-PI controller in terms of the gain selection and the controller interference. The feasibility of the presented idea is verified by experimental results on a designed VCM.

  • This paper presents the modeling of the sampling effect in the p-type average current mode control. The prediction of the high frequency components near half of the switching frequency in the current loop gain is given for the p-type average current mode control. By the proposed model, the prediction accuracy is improved when compared to that of conventional models. The proposed method is applied to a buck converter, and then the measurement results are analyzed.

  • This study proposes a method for improvement of PD type fuzzy controller. The method includes self tuner using gradient algorithm that is one of the optimization algorithms. The proposed controller improves simple Takagi-Sugeno type FLC (Fuzzy Logic Control) system. The simple Takagi-Sugeno type FLC system changes nonlinear characteristic to linear parameters of consequent membership function. The simple FLC system could control the system by calibrating parameter of consequent membership function that changes the system response. While the determination on parameter of the simple FLC system works well only partially, the proposed method is needed to determine parameters that work for overall response. The simple FLC system doesn't predict the response characteristics. While the simple FLC system works just like proportional part of PID, our system includes derivative part to predict the next response. The proposed controller is constructed with P part and D part FLC system that characteristic parameter on system response is changed by self tuner for effective response. Since the proposed controller doesn't include integral part, it can't eliminate steady state error. So we include a gain to eliminate the steady state error.
