  • The baseline selection is the first and important step to analyze magnetocardiography (MCG) parameters. There are no difficulties to select the baseline between P- and Q-wave peak (P-Q interval) of MCG wave recorded from healthy subjects because the P-Q intervals of the healthy subjects do not much vary. However, patients with ischemic heart disease often show an unstable P-Q interval which does not seem to be appropriate for the baseline. In this case, T-P interval is alternatively recommended for the baseline. However, there has been no study on the difference made by the baseline selection. In this study, we studied the effect of the different baseline selection. MCG data were analyzed from twenty healthy subjects and twenty one patients whose baselines were alternatively selected in the T-P interval for their inappropriate P-Q interval. Paired T-test was used to compare two set of data. Fifteen parameters derived from the R-wave peak, the T-wave peak, and the period, $T_{max/3}{\sim}T_{max}$ were compared for the different baseline selection. As a result, most parameters did not show significant differences (p>0.05) except few parameters. Therefore, there will be no significant differences if anyone of two intervals were selected for the MCG baseline. However, for the consistent analysis, P-Q interval is strongly recommended for the baseline correction.

  • We consider the threshold autoregressive moving average(TARMA) process and find a sufficient condition for strict stationarity of the proces. Given region for stationarity of TARMA(p,q) model is the same as that of TAR(p) model given by Chan and Tong(1985), which shows that the moving average part of TARMA(p,q) process does not affect the stationarity of the process. We find also a sufficient condition for the existence of kth moments(k$\geq$1) of the process with respect to the stationary distribution.

  • In this paper we obtain the closed forms of some hypergeometric functions. As an application, we obtain the explicit forms of the Bergman kernel functions for intersection of two complex ellipsoids {$z{\in}\mathbb{C}^3:{\mid}z_1{\mid}^p+{\mid}z_2{\mid}^q$ < 1, ${\mid}z_1{\mid}^p+{\mid}z_3{\mid}^r$ < 1}. We consider cases p = 6, q = r = 2 and p = q = r = 2. We also investigate the Lu Qi-Keng problem for p = q = r = 2.

  • The autocorrelation function structures of bilinear time series model BL(p, q, r, s), $r \geq s$ are obtained and shown to be analogous to those of ARMA(p, l), l=max(q, s). Simulation studies are performed to investigate the adequacy of Akaike information criteria for identification between ARMA(p, l) and BL(p, q, r, s) models and for determination of orders of BL(p, q, r, s) models. It is suggested that the model of having minimum Akaike information criteria is selected for a suitable model.

  • In this paper, we show that groups of order $2^npq$, where p, q are primes of the from $p=2^n-1$, $q=2^{n-1}+p$ with $n{\geq}3$, are not simple and groups of order $2^npq^t$ for $t{\geq}2$, where p, q are odd primes of the form $p=2^m-1$, $q=2^n-1$ with m < n, are not simple.

  • Van Hamme's (G.2) supercongruence modulo p4 for primes p ≡ 3 (mod 4) and p > 3 was first established by Swisher. A q-analogue of this supercognruence was implicitly given by the first author and Schlosser. In this paper, we present a new q-analogue of Van Hamme's (G.2) supercongruence for p ≡ 3 (mod 4).

  • Throughout this paper $Z^p, Q_p$ and C_p$ will denote the ring of p-adic rational integers, the field of p-adic rational numbers and the completion of the algebraic closure of $Q_p$, respectively. Let $v_p$ be the normalized exponential valuation of $C_p$ with $$\mid$p$\mid$_p = p^{-v_p (p)} = p^{-1}$. We set $p^* = p$ for any prime p > 2 $p^* = 4 for p = 2$.

  • Objective: Oxidative stress contributes to male infertility, and antioxidants have been recommended for treating idiopathic oligoasthenoteratozoospermia (OAT). There is, however, a lack of agreement on the type, dosing, and use of individual antioxidants or combinations thereof. The purpose of this study was to compare the effects of two doses of coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) on semen parameters and antioxidant status in men with idiopathic OAT. Methods: In this prospective study, patients with idiopathic OAT received 200 mg/day (n = 35) or 400 mg/day (n = 30) of CoQ10 orally for 3 months. All patients underwent semen analysis according to the fifth editions of the World Health Organization criteria. Total antioxidant capacity (TAC), catalase (CAT) activity, and superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity were measured both before and after treatment. Results: Treatment with CoQ10 (200 mg/day or 400 mg/day) resulted in a significant increase in sperm concentration from baseline ($8.22{\pm}6.88$ to $12.53{\pm}8.11million/mL$, p= 0.019; $7.58{\pm}5.41$ to $12.33{\pm}6.1million/mL$, p= 0.002, respectively), progressive motility ($16.54%{\pm}9.26%$ to $22.58%{\pm}10.15%$, p=0.011; $14.22%{\pm}12.85%$ to $26.1%{\pm}14.52%$, p= 0.001, respectively), and total motility ($25.68%{\pm}6.41%$ to $29.96%{\pm}8.09%$, p= 0.016; $23.46%{\pm}12.59%$ to $34.82%{\pm}14.17%$, p= 0.001, respectively). CoQ10 therapy also increased TAC (p= 0.009, p= 0.001, respectively), SOD activity (p= 0.004, p= 0.001, respectively), and CAT activity (p= 0.039, p= 0.024, respectively). Furthermore, antioxidant measures correlated significantly with seminal fluid parameters (r = 0.36-0.76). Conclusion: CoQ10 supplementation improved semen parameters and antioxidant status in men with idiopathic OAT, with a greater improvement shown in men who took 400 mg/day than in those who took 200 mg/day.
