신생아 경련의 예후 (Outcomes of Neonatal Seizures)

  • Seizures are the most common clinical symptom of a neurologic insult and have long been recognized as an obvious marker of brain dysfunction in newborns. Presence of seizures in newborn infants may signify substantial risk for subsequent neurodevelopmental impairment including postneonatal epilepsy and death. The outcomes of seizures in neonates are determined mainly by the etiology of the seizures. Despite the decreasing trend of mortality of neonatal seizures, the prevalence of long-term neurodevelopmental sequelae in survivors has remained unchanged over time. Clinical studies have contributed to identifying significant prognostic factors for neurodevelopmental outcome. The underlying etiology of the seizures and electroencepaphalography background pattern are considered as most reliable early predictors of later neurologic sequelae. However, clinicians managing neonatal seizures are still challenged by difficult therapeutic and prognostic questions because of many unresolved issues in seizure recognition, terminology, relationships to the underlying brain lesion, effect of current management, particularly antiepileptic drugs on long-term outcomes. This review presents the prognosis of neonatal seizures, especially about mortality and neurodevelopmental deficit, and predictors of outcomes.

기본의학교육 학습성과 개발과 활용 (Specification and Application of Learning Outcomes in Basic Medical Education)

  • The Korea Association of Medical Colleges (KAMC) has been developing learning outcomes for basic medical education (BME) since 2012. This initiative is designed to help medical schools implement competency-based medical education. KAMC divided the BME competencies into three domains (clinical practice, scientific concepts and principles, and human beings and society) with learning outcomes for each domain. KAMC plans to revise the learning outcomes to reflect feedback from medical schools, changes in social health needs, and changes in the healthcare environment and healthcare system in the near future. KAMC also plans to specify learning outcomes that integrate the three domains.

  • This paper is concerned with education courses operating practices for basic computer literacy training. In this study, we propose an example for students to effectively measure and evaluate the achievement of defined ability in the performance measurement and analysis, learning objectives and learning outcomes set in operation throughout the course. Through research and development use case presents the tools for teaching method and effective and objective measurement of the related subjects. And based on the results, we propose the possibility of utilizing NCS-based course operation and education certification. In this study, the measurement process is based on the association with the objective of the development and operation, and measurement tools, measuring tools for measuring learning outcomes associated with the curriculum design methods for the measurement and evaluation of the case of the operation of the course units of learning outcomes and the method proposed.

Growth patterns of preterm infants in Korea

  • With advancements in neonatal care and nutrition, the postnatal growth of preterm infants has improved; however, it remains an issue. Accurate assessments of growth using a standardized reference are needed to interpret the intrauterine and postnatal growth patterns of preterm infants. Growth in the earlier periods of life can contribute to later outcomes, and the refinement of postnatal growth failure is needed to optimize outcomes. Catch-up growth occurs mainly before discharge and until 24 months of age, and very low birth weight infants in Korea achieve retarded growth later in life. Knowing an infant's perinatal history, reducing morbidity rates during admission, and performing regular monitoring after discharge are required. Preterm infants with a lower birth weight or who were small for gestational age are at increased risk of poor neurodevelopmental outcomes. Furthermore, poor postnatal growth is predictive of adverse neurodevelopmental outcomes. Careful monitoring and early intervention will contribute to better development outcomes and national public health improvements.

A Bayesian joint model for continuous and zero-inflated count data in developmental toxicity studies

  • In many applications, we frequently encounter correlated multiple outcomes measured on the same subject. Joint modeling of such multiple outcomes can improve efficiency of inference compared to independent modeling. For instance, in developmental toxicity studies, fetal weight and number of malformed pups are measured on the pregnant dams exposed to different levels of a toxic substance, in which the association between such outcomes should be taken into account in the model. The number of malformations may possibly have many zeros, which should be analyzed via zero-inflated count models. Motivated by applications in developmental toxicity studies, we propose a Bayesian joint modeling framework for continuous and count outcomes with excess zeros. In our model, zero-inflated Poisson (ZIP) regression model would be used to describe count data, and a subject-specific random effects would account for the correlation across the two outcomes. We implement a Bayesian approach using MCMC procedure with data augmentation method and adaptive rejection sampling. We apply our proposed model to dose-response analysis in a developmental toxicity study to estimate the benchmark dose in a risk assessment.

통합된 산림휴양기능의 평가를 위한 사회 심리적 평가 모델의 개발과 응용 (Socio-Psychological Model Integrated Evaluations of Forest Recreation Values)

  • 본 연구는 산림 휴양객의 휴양경험에서 얻는 사회 심리적 이익을 규명하고 수량화 하며 또한 산림 휴양지의 각 속성들이 이들 휴양경험과 어떠한 관계를 갖는가를 알아보기 위하여 수행되었다. 426명의 월악산 국립공원 방문객을 대상으로 직접 설문에 의하여 1995년 5월과 6월에 거쳐 자료가 수집되었다. 자료의 분석결과 9개의 자원 속성과 12개의 사회 심리적 휴양이익이 규명되었다. 또한 이들 자원 속성 변수와 휴양 이익간에는 큰 연관 관계를 가지고 있었다. 본 연구에서 얻은 결과는 휴양자원의 설계 및 관리에 큰 도움을 가져올 것으로 사료되며 특히 휴양자원의 목록화, 관리 기법의 선택, 그리고 휴양자원의 가치 평가에 있어서 통합된 개념으로서의 가치를 인식하는데 큰 역할을 할 것이다.

학습성과 수행평가를 위한 루브릭 개발과 적용에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Development and Application of Rubrics for Performance Assessment in Terms of Promoting Program Learning Outcomes)

  • The purpose of this study was to provide analytic rubrics for measuring teamwork(PO6), communication and presentation skills(PO7), and life-long learning(PO8) based on theoretical concepts of performance assessment and rubrics. Also, this study analyzed data about performance assessment and rubics from courses offered through college of engineering. Participants were 34 senior engineering students who took the course 'Technical writing and presentation'. In the second week of the course, students were given the pre-test instrument which was developed for measuring students' understanding of program outcomes for this study. After performing project activities using rubrics, students were encouraged to complete the post-test instrument and the reaction questionnaire during the ninth week. The data were analyzed by using SPSS 14.0 and Microsoft Excel. The research findings are as follows. First, to promote and evaluate program learning outcomes appropriately, performance assessment-based on rubircs should be implemented. Second, in the reaction questionnaire about the rubircs, students answered that using rubircs for performing the project was very useful for understanding the performance procedures and assessment criteria. Third, the mean of understanding of program outcomes of students in post-test was significantly increased than in the pre-test(p<.0001). From the findings, performance assessment and rubrics should be used as evaluation tools at course levels in terms of promoting program learning outcomes for engineering education.

수능 직업탐구 영역의 성과와 과제에 대한 공업계열 특성화고 현장 교사의 인식 (Perception on Outcomes and Challenges of Vocational Education Division CSAT by Industry Department Teachers of Specialized Vocational High School)

  • The purpose of this study was to inquiry of perception on outcomes and challenges of vocational education division CSAT by industry department teachers of specialized vocational high school. Therefore, it is highly desirable that researchers to survey what are the biggest outcomes of vocational education division CSAT and positive ripple effects of outcomes, what are the biggest challenges of vocational education division CSAT and importance of challenges undertaken 10 years. The survey included 100 industry department teachers of specialized vocational high school on 9 region from Korea. The analysis of survey results was by regions, industry department teacher's career of specialized vocational high school. The results are as follows. The biggest outcomes of vocational education division CSAT was extension of opportunity on continuing education and supply a demand for entrance university on specialized vocational high school students. The biggest positive ripple effects of the outcomes was also extension of opportunity on continuing education and supply a demand for entrance university on specialized vocational high school students. The biggest challenges of vocational education division CSAT and importance of challenges was not to use vocational education division CSAT score for the entrance on the most universities.

공학교육인증의 학습성과 평가체계의 사례 연구 (Case Study with Regard to ABEEK Assessment Process for Program Outcomes)

  • 학습성과 평가체계 수립 과정은 일반적으로 다음과 같다. 먼저 각 학습성과의 수행수준에 따른 수행 준거를 설정하고, 교육과정을 통하여 달성되어야 하는 프로그램 학습성과의 달성목표를 수립한 이후에 적절한 평가 도구를 가지고 루브릭에 기초하여 측정 평가를 실행한다. 측정된 결과를 토대로 분석평가한 이후에 프로그램 학습성과 달성을 위해 교육과정 개선을 도모한다. 그리고 나서 적용된 프로그램 개선 사항은 다양한 경로를 통하여 공개된다. 특히 본 논문에서는 광운대학교 전기공학 프로그램의 평가체계 및 적용 사례를 통하여 공학교육인증 대상 학생과 그렇지 않은 학생의 학습성과를 비교 분석해 보았다.

디자인과 소프트웨어 융합전공의 프로그램 학습성과 평가체계 개발 (Development of Program Outcomes Evaluation System for Multidisciplinary Major in Design and Software)

  • In recent years, the design has formed and operated convergence education in conjunction with many other academic fields, and ABEEK also encourages the participation of convergence engineering programs. The purpose of this study is to require design and software convergence major to operate program that accord engineering education certification criteria to develop a program outcomes evaluation system and examine its validity. The program outcomes evaluation system was developed in accordance with development research methods and procedures. As a result, developed evaluation system program outcomes for convergence-based program outcomes: convergence ability, creative thinking ability, entrepreneur ability, and design ability. Finally, it revised and supplemented them through expert validity examine. Expert validity review included 9 experts in engineering, IT engineering, education technology, and design. The validity, usefulness, intelligibility, universality, and explanatory power of the evaluation system were reviewed. The results of this study are expected to provide practical tools for operating ABBEK of convergence programs between design and engineering.
