  • The goal of this study is to be used as baseline data for transportation demand management. At the present time the number of registered car and householding car is increasing, so there is a need to analyze the car ownership pattern through household car hold status. Also, it is necessary to analyze the factor of increasing car. The research is proceeded with classifying as the household which is holding private cars or holding passenger cars and non passenger cars based on the result of the research of the household travel survey data. The result of this study is shown as follows. According to car ownership pattern, there are more households holding passenger cars only when they are holding less than 2 cars. Otherwise there are more households holding passenger car and non passenger car when they are holding more than 3 cars. Using the Ordered Logit Model, there are more differences in factors affects holding cars by variables of housing type and household properties.

  • This study indicates that 84.5% of fishermen have perceived climate change and 74.9% of fishermen have responded that frequency and intensity of the impacts of climate change are increasing. The results of regression analysis have shown that the level of fishermen experiencing the impacts of climate change differs according to individual's characteristics including age, length of experience, sea area (fishing area) and types of fisheries. About half of the respondents have shown that they are not taking any actions against the effects of climate change. The main reasons are that they either have lack of knowledge on how to respond to the impacts of climate change or have the perception that climate change is irresistible. The majority of respondents have responded that they are not aware of the government's climate change policy and emphasized that it is necessary to have effective countermeasures strengthening the provision of information about climate change policy. The result of perception survey have highlighted that it is essential for the government and the fishermen to share relevant information and to consider method of cooperation.

  • To investigate farmers' satisfaction level and factors influencing on various agricultural and rural policies, an interview survey has been carried out in Jeonnam and Jeonbuk agricultural area, and collected 750 survey questionnaires from farmers. Satisfaction level was low in average ranging from 2.71 to 3.09 in five point Likert-scale on 22 agricultural-rural related policies. Ordered logit model results showed that satisfaction level decreased when farmers are older, had higher income, and had higher number of attendance in agricultural education programme. In addition, satisfaction level decreased when farms had main source of income from rice farming, dry-field farming, livestock farming, or facility horticulture. Lower satisfaction level was also related to location of farm. On the contrary, satisfaction level increased when the farmer had greater owned land. Among 22 agricultural and rural policies, practices that farmers prefer include Direct Payment for Rice Farming Income Compensation, Environment-Friendly Farming Service, Farmland Banking Services in order. Since direct payment policies that farmers prefer may not contribute in development of agriculture, policies can induce both farm income and agricultural development may increase farmer satisfaction level and finally resolve the income gap between the urban workers and farmers.

  • Record-keeping is one of the most fundamental practices in good farm management as it shows a systemic managerial and analytic data essential for a successful farm operation. Despite such obvious benefits in record-keeping, however, today`s farmers do not take advantage of this practice for various reasons. To make the matter worse, not much research has been done to resolve this incompatibility. Therefore, it is urgent for both the government and the farmers to come up with a better method or book of record-keeping that will show the farmers where their operation has been in the past, where it is now, and where it is heading in the future. This study will survey and analyze the current status of record-keeping practice among farmers using statistic models such as logit and ordered probit model. The results showed that the majority of the farmers lack knowledge about management record. Also, appropriate record-keeping books and related education were not available. Therefore, the government should develop and provide farmers with record-keeping books that are easy to use and at the same time giving proper education about agricultural management skills. Finally, this study suggests some improvement plans about agricultural record-keeping based on the results drawn.

  • Although concerns about the opinion shopping have been continuously raised in the audit market, there has been little research on empirical evidence on the existence of audit opinions. For this reason, this study empirically confirmed whether the opinion shopping exists. At first, we measured thresholds of audit opinion issuing of two groups(changed or not-changed auditors). After that, the difference analysis was conducted to verify whether the thresholds of the audit opinion issuing was significant difference between two groups. As a result of the study, there was no significant difference in the thresholds of audit opinion issuing between two groups. This result can be interpreted that the audit opinion shopping is not a general phenomenon in the external audit market. The contribution of this study is to empirically confirmed that audit opinion shopping does not exist in the external audit market.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the community center users' the determinants of utilization & satisfaction for the exploit and to draw out the implication as to what are the influencing factors. The ordered logit model approach was used to examine the determinants. For the use of community center, we surveyed by mail subjecting on rural residents for one month, June 2012, analyzed 625 valid questionnaires. The findings are as follows. First, 'Facility-Satisfaction', 'Education', 'Exploit-Frequency' and 'Age' are the most important factors which affect users' satisfaction. Second, 'A meeting hall function', 'Cultural & Educational function', 'Social & Organizational function', and 'functional criticality function' influence the attributes of users' utilization. Therefore, it is needed to establish the various functions of community center and to prepare the vitalization plan in futuristic viewpoint reflecting the change of rural area. In addition, since there is no clear entity to supervise community center administratively, policy support system to community center should be equipped. Along with these, it is needed to develop managing and operation model for customized community center.

  • This study found that it is critical to consider farmers' intention to adopt new technology in order to facilitate the spread of new technology. Based on this assumption, the research team analyzed the following: factors that influence intention of adoption and marginal effects on those factors. The data were collected from 99 farmers who did not participate in the pilot projects on dissemination of new technologies developed by the Rural Development Administration (RDA). A total of 19 observed variables were set to measure seven latent variables: educational support; technical support; funding support; compatibility; trialability; observability; and antipathy. The intention to adopt new technology was established as the dependent variable. According to the ordered logit analysis, educational support, observability, and antipathy were found to have significantly affected the intention to adopt new technology; their odds ratio were 6.938, 2.716, and 0.501, respectively. According to the marginal analysis, educational support, observability, and antipathy were found to have significantly affected the intention to adopt new technology; their marginal effects were 20.2 %, 10.4 %, and -7.2 %, respectively. Therefore, this study suggests the following to facilitate the spread of new technology: first, provide quality support services through effective deduction; second, increase the visibility of new technology; and third, enhance the credibility of agricultural institutions by developing continuous relations with farmers to reduce their antipathy.

  • This paper investigates the determinants for the controlling power and the concentration of the subcontracting trade between the downstream producer and the upstream supplier using a survey data for the IT industry in Gyeonggi-Do. The estimation results of the ordered logit and least square analyses are as follows. First, a firm. s controlling power across the downstream producer and the upstream supplier in the subcontracting trade would grow bigger when the company is bigger, more manufacture-oriented, and has higher ratio of export in sales. Second, the analysis for the upstream suppliers indicates that the higher dependent ratio of the subcontracting trade in the sales, the lower the concentration ratio of the R&D in the sales. Lastly, the analysis of the downstream producers indicates that the higher the dependent ratio of the subcontracting trade in the sales, the higher the concentration ratio of the R&D in the sales, which is distinctively contrast with the analysis result of the upstream suppliers. The overall estimation results are, hence, unsupporting to the transaction cost theory which predicts the increase of R&D investments in both downstream producer and upstream supplier.

  • Some OECD countries are showing signs of decoupling in the transportation sector. In terms of sustainable development, the decoupling of economic activities and greenhouse gas emissions in the transportation sector is very important. This study calculated a decoupling index of greenhouse gas emissions in the transportation sector for 25 OECD countries. Also this study analyzed the impact of energy transition on decoupling regimes. According to the analysis, a considerable number of countries have reached the decoupling phase, and some countries have shown strong decoupling regime in which greenhouse gas emissions are reduced despite economic growth. From ordered panel logit analysis, energy transition had significant impact on achieving decoupling phase. Electrification of transport had a positive effect on the decoupling, while the gasification was not significant. In addition, small traffic, high urbanization rates, strong environmental policies, and high trade opening have had significant effects on achieving decoupling.
