This work presents experimental results on the electrical properties of hydrogenated amorphous carbon films(a-C : H) prepared by PECVD. Conductance of a-C: H was measured as a function of temperatures in the range of 100 to 423K. We studied two a -C: H films: one was well explanied by the Mott's variable range hopping(VRH) rule. But the other sample did not follow it. The conduction data of second sample were well fitted to Shimakawa's multi-phonon hopping(MPH) model according to which conductivity is proportional to Tm with m= 15~17. But, in our samples, m was 10~12.
The purpose of this study is to analyze, medical institutions wanted to investigate what caused the shortage of opticians' manpower and suggest solutions. This study was conducted on 31 opticians (11 male and 20 female) working at medical institutions through a self-reporting method survey. Through the survey, basic information of the subjects and the information and satisfaction level of the medical institution on duty were investigated and analyzed. There were many people who had a license for optometrist but did not do optometrist work, and the married people were less satisfied with their work and the proportion of people who did not do optometrist work was higher. The cause of these problems was salary. Opticians who needed higher salaries for marriage and other reasons were able to increase their salaries by adding other tasks in their own areas. This unsatisfactory salary at medical institutions has led to a shortage of optometrists at ophthalmic clinics.
The purpose of this work is that by using speckle phenomena of low-level He-Ne laser, it analyzes the movement condition of surface elements on a substance vibrating. The lights from laser reflect against a copper plate and will be shown as speckles on a vibration board. If we vibrate these speckles by sound waves of a speaker installed on the back, the speckles change with various shapes. When a vibration board has a maximum vibration, the frequency becomes a dynamical resonance frequency and we can mark the changes of speckles at that time on a vibration board.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effects of continuing work on VDT(video display terminal). Therefore, we examined visual fatigue by a questionnaire and measured frequency of blinking, tear film break-up time(BUT), height of palpebral fissure, visual acuity, refraction with retinoscopy and accommodation before and after two hour long VDT work. For the ocular symptoms, the greatest number was tired eyes accounting for 34%. In the visual symptoms, blurred vision was the highest rate of 83% and in case of systemic symptoms, shoulder pain was 38% marked top ranking but other symptoms were also distributed similar rate. The frequency of blinking during VDT work decreased significantly comparing with the one at rest. The average frequency of blinking is 8/min during VDT work and 22/min at rest. The BUT measured immediately after VDT work decreased much more than in the resting state. The average BUT was 7sec immediately after VDT work and 12sec at rest. The height of palpebral fissure during VDT work increased significantly comparing with the value at rest. The average height of palpebral fissure was 7.69mm at rest and 9.04mm during VDT work. The average visual acuity decreased almost 9.5% from 0.63 to 0.57, but refraction with retinoscopy increased about 0.28D to the direction of myopic shift. The amplitude of accommodation decreased approximately 1.49D from 7.98D to 6.49D and this resulted from the prolongation of near point of accommodation. Near point of convergence also was prolongated from 9.45cm to 10.30cm after VDT work.
Purpose: This study was to evaluate students and optometrist in the importance and difficulty of work capability, and the educational needs for optometric duty in order to use them as basic data for the improvement of the curriculum. Methods: 292 ophthalmic optic's college students and 123 optometrists were surveyed in the importance and difficulty of work capability, and the educational needs for the optometric duty, and data was statistically analyzed for the results. Results: The mean of the importance of work capability was higher for the optometrists (3.61) than for the students (3.51) and glasses dispensing was the highest for both students and optometrists. The mean of the difficulty of work capability was higher for the students (2.75) than for the optometrists (2.67), which was the highest in refraction for the students and in prescription for the optometrists. The mean of educational needs was higher for the optometrists (3.53) than for the students (3.45), which was the highest in glasses dispensing for the students and highest in refraction for the optometrists. There were significant differences in some tasks in between the students by gender, grade and desired working place, while between the optometrists by gender, age, work experience, working place and working area (p<0.05). Conclusions: It is necessary to improve a curriculum of the Department of Opthalmic Optics, and develop a standard curriculum reflected the importance and the difficulty of work capability, and the educational needs regarding to optometric duty.

The purposes of this study is examining a wearing tendency of a progressive multifocal lens. We measured refractive error values using subjective and objective refraction method with subjects in 40-65 ages. Also, we investigated and analyzed distribution of addition power and wearing tendency of progressive multifocal lens. Detected addition powers were ranged of +0.75D - +3.00D. In case of average addition, they were detected with +1.18D in 40's, +1.55D - +1.97D in 50's and +2.38D in above 61's age. The distributions of visual ability at a distant were measured that the hyperopia and hyperopic astigmatism 43%, the myopia and myopic astigmatism characteristic astigmatism 7% appeared highly with 36%. The male who uses the interior aspect multi focal lens with the short-range work were appeared the male 20%, the woman 19%.
Purpose: To understand the status and actual condition of clinical practice in ophthalmic optics and offer a effective operation plan and improvement of quality of clinical practice. Methods: The school survey were investigated from 30 ophthalmic optics school and student survey were investigated from 161 students among these 4 schools. Results: 'No specific program for clinical practice' were 60.7%. Most schools apply clinical practice to credit (96.4%) but naming of subject and credit were varied in each school. 'Communication skill' was most difficult task and 'cleaning and arrangement of frame and stuff' were major task to students during clinical practice. Best benefits through clinical practice was 'knowing real status of optical business'. Comparison in carrier preference, optical shop and spectacles/contact lens company were decreased and eye hospital and norelation work were increased after clinical practice. Conclusions: Wide study on effective operation plan for clinical practice in ophthalmic optics and on the improvement of students' satisfaction and close cooperation and interest were needed between schools and clinical practice places.

Purpose: In this paper, we have dealt with problems and improvement of korean optician system. Methods: Using the relevant material of korean optician system and international optometrist system, provides the theoretical basis of the need for regulatory changes optician. Results: The people with refractive errors are increasing, 67% of refractive error test is made from optical shop and korean optician are sufficient trained, many opticians are in charge of the refractive error test at the ophthalmic hospital. We have confirmed that current law does not reflect adequately the nature of optician's work. Conclusions: Since current capacity of the Korean opticians and education system ready to provide health services for people, therefore an korean optician must redefine the law to fit the reality.
The education and training system, the ISCO (International Standard Classification of Occupations), and the legal systems of Japan and the United States consider all ophthalmic optometry laboratory personnel as ophthalmologists. They encompass optometrists, orthoptists, optometric technicians, and ophthalmic medical technicians. Data retrieved from the KOSIS (Korean Statistical Information Service) revealed that the number of opticians associated with the department of ophthalmology in 2022 could be appraised by classifying their medical institutions; contrarily, the number of clinical laboratory technologists could not be assessed. However, the current research investigated a general tertiary hospital and determined that clinical laboratory technologists outnumber opticians. Classification in Korea is based on ophthalmic optometry laboratory personnel, ISCO, ISCED (International Standard Classification of Education), the medical service act, the act on medical service technologists, and the higher education act. These results cannot be compared to the optometrists evaluated in the United States. Ophthalmology is a suitable profession for optometric technologists and technicians who perform under the instructions of ophthalmologists and optometrists. The field of eye healthcare would be benefitted by assigning the management based on their qualification according to the requirement of the job title, such as 'Clinical Optometry Technologist' to be given to clinical laboratory technologists and opticians who work in the ophthalmic optometry laboratories after obtaining a private qualification endowed by the Korean Ophthalmological Society and the Korean Optometry Society.
