  • The cantilever beam with nonlinearity has many dynamic characteristics of nonlinear vibration. Nonlinear terms of a flexible cantilever beam include inertia, spring, damping, and warping. When the beam is given basic harmonic excitation, it shows planar and nonplanar vibrations due to one-to-one resonance. And when the one-to-one resonance occurs, the flexible beam shows different behaviors in those vibrations. For the one-to-one resonance occurring in each mode, the phase value of the planar vibration is different from that of the nonlinear vibration. This paper investigates the phase change and the phase difference between such planar and nonplanar vibrations which are caused by one-to-one resonance.

  • In this paper, the response characteristics of one to one resonance on the rectangular cantilever beam in which basic harmonic excitations are applied by nonlinear coupled differential integral equations are studied. This equations have 3-dimensional non-linearity of nonlinear inertia and nonlinear curvature. Galerkin and multi scale methods are used for theoretical approach to one to one internal resonance. Nonlinear response characteristics of 1st, 2nd, 3rd modes are measured from the experiment for basic harmonic excitation. From the experimental result, geometrical terms of nonlinearity display light spring effect and these terms play an important role in the response characteristics of low frequency modes. Dynamic behaviors in the out of plane are also studied.

  • Experimental and theoretical study of the non-planar response motions of a circular cantilever beam subject to base harmonic excitation has been presented in this paper work. Theoretical research is conducted using two non-linear coupled integral-differential equations of motion. These equations contain cubic linearities due do curvature term and inertial term. A combination of the Galerkin procedure and the method of multiple scales are used to construct a first-order uniform expansion for the case of one-to-one resonance. The results show that the non-linear geometric terms are very important for the low-frequency modes of the first and second mode. The non-linear inertia terms are also important for the high-frequency modes. We present the quantitative and qualitative results for non-planar motions of the dynamic behavior.

  • In this paper, nonlinear nonplanar vibration of a flexible rectangular cantilever beam is analyzed when one-to-one resonance occurs to the beam. The planar and nonplanar motions of the beam are analyzed in time and frequency domains. In frequency domain, FFT analyzer is used to perform autospectrum and cepstrum analyses for nonlinear response of the beam. In time domain, an oscilloscope is used to investigate the phase difference between the planar and nonplanar motions and to perform Torus analysis in the phase space. Through those analyzing process, the main frequencies of superharmonic, subharmonic, and super-subharmonic motions are investigated in the nonplanar motion due to one-to-one resonance. Analyzing the phase difference between the planar and nonplanar motions, it is observed that the phase difference varies in time.

  • Giusti-Suzor and Fano introduced translations of the scales of Lu-Fano plots by phase renormalization in order to decouple the intra- and inter-channel couplings in multichannel quantum defect theory (MQDT). Their theory was further developed by others to deal with systems involving a larger number of channels. In different directions, MQDT was reformulated into forms with a one-to-one correspondence to those in Fano's configuration mixing theory of resonance for photofragmentation processes involving one closed and many open channels. In this study, the theory was further developed to fully reveal the coupling nature, decoupling of the background and resonance scattering in physical scattering matrices as well as to further extract the dynamic parameters undiscovered by Fano and his colleagues. This theory was applied to the photoabsorption spectrum of $H_2$ observed by Herzberg's group.

  • This study presents an input filter resonance mitigation method for an AC-DC matrix converter. This method combines the advantages of the one-cycle control strategy and the active damping technique. Unnecessary sensors are removed, and system cost is reduced by employing the grid-side input currents as feedback to damp out LC resonance. A model that includes the proposed method and the input filter is established with consideration of the delay caused by the actual controller. A zero-pole map is employed to analyze model stability and to investigate virtual resistor parameter design principles. Based on a double closed-loop control scheme, the one-cycle control strategy does not require any complex modulation index control. Thus, this strategy can be more easily implemented than traditional space vector-based methods. Experimental results demonstrate the veracity of theoretical analysis and the feasibility of the proposed approach.

  • Non-Lorentyian resonance is predicted to occur in two-photon photoabsorption processes due to the detuning off the intermediate levels. This type of non-Lorentzian resonance is distinct from the asymmetric resonance resulting from the effects of q uantum interference between competing indistinguishable dynamic pathways. The product distributions are shown to be constant near this type of resonance.

  • The transformation devised by Lecomte and Ueda for the study of resonance structures in the multichannel quantum defect theory (MQDT) is used to analyze partial photofragmentation cross section formulas in MQDT analogous to Fano's resonance formula obtained in the previous work for the system involving two open and one closed channels. Detailed comparison of the MQDT results with the configuration mixing (CM) ones is made. Resonance structures and their geometrical relations in the MQDT formulation are revealed and classified by combining Lecomte and Ueda's theory with the geometrical method devised to study the coupling between background and resonance scatterings.
