  • The identification of a nonlinear vibration system based on the time domain parametric model has been widely studied in recent years. In most of the studies, the NARMAX model has been used for the identification of a nonlinear system. However, the computational load for the identification with this model is quite heavy. In this paper, a new modeling procedure for nonlinear system identification in discrete time domain is proposed. The proposed model has less initial nonlinear terms than NARMAX model, and the terms in the proposed model are derived from physically meaningful way. The performance of the proposed method is evaluated through the simulation, and the result shows that the proposed model can identify the nonlinear characteristics of the vibration system very will less computational effort.

  • A Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning (HVAC) system is a nonlinear multi-input multi-output (MIMO) system. This system is very difficult to control the temperature and the humidity ratio of a thermal space because of complex nonlinear characteristics. This paper proposes an adaptive fuzzy output feedback control based on observer for the nonlinear HVAC system. The nonlinear HVAC system is linearized through dynamic extension. State observers are designed for estimating state variables of the HVAC system. Fuzzy systems are employed to approximate uncertain nonlinear functions of the HVAC system with unavailable state variables. The obtained controller compares with an adaptive feedback controller. Simulation is given to demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed adaptive fuzzy method.

  • As structure-soil interaction analysis for the seismic analysis of structures requires a nonlinear analysis of a structure-soil system considering the inelastic characteristics of soil layers nonlinear analyses of the foundation-soil system with the horizontal excitation were performed considering the nonlinear soil conditions for the nonlinear seismic analysis of structures. Stiff soil profile of SD and soft soil profile of SE specified in UBC were considered for the soil layers of a foundation and Ramberg-Osgood model was assumed for the nonlinear characteristics of soil layers. Studies on the changes of dynamci stiffnesses and damping rations of surface and embedded foundations depending on foundation size soil layer depth and piles were performed to investigate the effects of the nonlinear soil layer on the horizontal and rotational dynamic stiffnesses and damping ratios of the foundation-soil system According to the study results nonlinear prperties of a soil laryer decreeased horizontal and rotational linear stiffnesses and increased damping ratios largely Effects of foundation size soil layer depth and piles were also significant suggesting the necessity of nonlinear seismic analyses of structures.

  • A method to determine nonlinear system observability will be introduced here. For the determination of the deterministic nonlinear system observability two conditions connectedness and univalence, are developed and used. Depending on how the conditions are satisfied, observability is classified in three categories : observability in the strict sense, wide sense, and the unobservable case. Including simple linear and nonlinear system example an underwater acoustical locaization tracking nonlinear system, the bearing-only tracking example is analyzed.

  • We considered a new system of generalized nonlinear mixed variational inclusions in Hilbert spaces and define an iterative method for finding the approximate solutions of this class of system of generalized nonlinear mixed variational inclusions. We also established that the approximate solutions obtained by our algorithm converges to the exact solutions of a new system of generalized nonlinear mixed variational inclusions.

  • In this paper, the authors propose a new method for linearizing a nonlinear dynamical system by use of Volterra kernel of the nonlinear system. The authors have recently obtained a new method for measuring Volterra kernels of nonlinear control systems by use of a pseudo-random M-sequence and correlation technique. In this method, an M-sequence is applied to the nonlinear system and the crosscorrelation function between the input and the output gives us every crosssection of Volterra kernels up to 3rd order. Once we can get Volterra kernels of nonlinear system, we can construct a linearization method of the nonlinear system. Simulation results show good agreement between the observed results and the theoretical considerations.

  • A Suspension system of a car is composed of dampers and springs. The dampers and springs usually have nonlinear characteristics. However, the nonlinear characteristics of the springs and dampers through analytical model cannot agree with the experimental results. Therefore, the nonlinearity of the suing and damper should be known from the experimental results. In this study, the methods of system identification for nonlinear dynamic system in time domain are discussed and the nonlinear parameter estimation lot experimental data of an EF-SONATA car was done. The results show that a cubic and a coupled term should be considered to model the suspension system.

  • In this paper, a neuro-fuzzy system for quantitative characterization of chaotic signals is proposed. The proposed system is differ from the previous methods in that the nonlinear functions of the nonlinear dynamical systems are calculated as the invariant factor. In the proposed neuro-fuzzy system, the nonlinear functions are determined by supervised learning. From the reconstructed nonlinear functions, the proposed system can generate extrapolated chaotic signals. This feature will help the study of nonlinear dynamical systems which require large number of chaotic data. To confirm the validity of the proposed system, nonlinear functions are reconstructed from 1-dimensional and 2-dimensional chaotic signals.

  • In this paper, we psropose the feedback linearization technique for a nonlinear system using genetic algorithms (GAs) and fuzzy logic system. The proposed control scheme approximates the nonlinear term of a nonlinear system using the fuzzy logic system and computes the control input for cancelling the nonlinear term. Then in the fuzzy logic system, the number and shape of membership function of the premise aprt will be tuned to minimize the control error boundary using GAs. And the parameters of the consequence of fuzzy rule will be tuned by the adaptive laws based on lyapunov stability theory in order to guarantee the closed loop stability of control system. The evolution of fuzzy logic system is processed during the on-line adaptive control. The effectiveness of proposed method will be demonstrated by computer simulation of simple nonlinear sytem.

This system demonstrates the principle of electromagnetic induction, a force from AC sources, Lenz's law of repulsion and transformer. The educational system is composed of a jumping ring apparatus, a sensor array, encoder, A/D converter, D/A converter and nonlinear controller. The educational system is controlled by 586 PC using Turbo C program. The sensor array is composed of 20 optical sensors. The nonlinear controller consists of nonlinear control algorithm and control board included SCR, FET and phase controller. The A/D converter is used to show the height of ring position to analog for an education purpose.
