  • The video game industry is obsessed by the perception of "Next Generation Game". Appearance of the next generation game console has required the video game industry to renovate new technologies for their entire production. This tendency increases a huge mount of production cost. Game companies have to hire more designers to create a solid concept, artists to generate more detailed content, and programmers to optimize for more complex hardware. All those high cost efforts provide great locking games, but the potential of next generation game consoles does not end there. They also bring possibilities of the new types of gameplay. Next generation game contains a much larger pool of memories for every video game elements. The entire video game used to use roughly 800 animation files, but next generation game is pushing scripted event well over 4000 animation flies. That allows a lot of very unique custom animation for pretty much every action in the game. It gives game players much more vivid and realistic appreciation of the virtual world. Players are not being able to see any recycling of the same animation over and over when they are playing next generation game. The main purpose of this thesis is that defines the concept of next generation game and analyzes new animation-pipeline to be used in the shooter games.

  • Recent discoveries of brain tumor-related genes and fast advances in genomic testing technologies have led to the era of molecular diagnosis of brain tumor. Molecular profiling of brain tumor became the significant step in the diagnosis, the prediction of prognosis and the treatment of brain tumor. Because traditional molecular testing methods have limitations in time and cost for multiple gene tests, next-generation sequencing technologies are rapidly introduced into clinical practice. Targeted sequencing panels using these technologies have been developed for brain tumors. In this article, focused on pediatric brain tumor, key discoveries of brain tumor-related genes are reviewed and cancer panels used in the molecular profiling of brain tumor are discussed.

  • The trend of Next Generation Networks' (NGN) evolution is towards providing multiple and multimedia services to users through ubiquitous networks. The aim of IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) is to integrate mobile communication networks and computer networks. The IMS plays an important role in NGN services, which can be achieved by heterogeneous networks and different access technologies. IMS can be used to manage all service related issues such as Quality of Service (QoS), Charging, Access Control, User and Services Management. Nowadays, internet technology is changing with each passing day. New technologies yield new impact to IMS. In this paper, we perform a survey of IMS and discuss the different impacts of new technologies on IMS such as P2P, SCIM, Web Service and its security issues.

  • ESPR project started in 1999 with METI and NEDO support as five-years program in order to develop necessary technologies for the next-generation SST engine. In ESPR program, jet noise reduction technologies are focused as environmentally compatible technologies, which are critical to realize next-generation SST. In designing a lobed mixer nozzle which is a jet noise suppression system, there are many difficulties to understand the detailed flow phenomena occurred in the system because of its complexity. Large Eddy Simulation (LES) was applied to the lobed mixer nozzle flow analysis in ESPR project. The results demonstrated that LES approach was capable of predicting mixing characteristics of a complicated flow.

  • Mobile communication is evolving toward next generation system that is capable to provide ubiquitous human-centric services with giving no restriction on time and location. In particular, context-awareness will be realized using various sensors and devices and related technologies under the ubiquitous Next Generation (NG) mobile communications environment where user's demand and surrounding context are changing dynamically. By such context awareness, context aware service which provides best suitable services for a user by analyzing user's needs and situational information, will be one of the promising NG mobile services. In this article, we propose NG mobile service environment with focusing on generic service traffic flows supported by the NG service platform which gives various means of connecting users and service providers. Then, we propose evolutional phases of context-aware services based on ranges of context information and evolutional trend of telecommunication technologies and networking environment in NG mobile service environment.

  • Recently the value and importance of contents industry is rapidly increasing. In particular, consumption on contents convergence integrating contents and new technologies is being increased as smart devices become popular. Next generation contents convergence industry is being recognized as a new engine for national economic development. However there is no concrete framework defining next generation contents convergence industry. This fact brings about serious problems in defining the scope of the industry. To develop effectively new industry, there is a strong need to define types of contents convergence based on dominant factors leading content convergence trend while shedding light on contents, technologies and industry. To define classification of next generation contents convergence indudstry, this study analyzes attributes of contents convergence and carries out conjoint analysis. Based on the attributes found from conjoint analysis, the study suggests new classification scheme of contents convergence industry.

  • Generally speaking, the uniqueness of Korea for the high-speed railway rolling-stock is mainly perceived through the travel over the high-speed electric railway by passengers, which consists of the organization of space in the coach and its interior design. For such purpose, it is necessary to build a series of independent cultures with high-speed railway i.e. to have the development of design technologies oriented to harmonizing human beings, their society and culture with the systematic integration of production technologies to support the culture and its substructure foundation which constitute the frame of superstructure in the society, by defining the relationships with travelers on the high-speed railway as well as enhancing the comfort and convenience of high-speed railway through drawing up the development of links with the systematic integration among lines of technologies on the basis of 'User Train Interface. This thesis aims at introducing the study carried out to build the evaluation standards of performance outputs for 'HEMU-400X rolling-stock Design' derived from the performance for the first year in the research 'Development of Technologies for the Next-Generation High-Speed Railway' as part of "Development Project for the Future Railway Technologies" from 2007.

  • After the initial enthusiasm of the human genome project, it became clear that without additional data pertaining to the epigenome, i.e., how the genome is marked at specific developmental periods, in different tissues, as well as across individuals and species-the promise of the genome sequencing project in understanding biology cannot be fulfilled. This realization prompted several large-scale efforts to map the epigenome, most notably the Encyclopedia of DNA Elements (ENCODE) project. While there is essentially a single genome in an individual, there are hundreds of epigenomes, corresponding to various types of epigenomic marks at different developmental times and in multiple tissue types. Unprecedented advances in next-generation sequencing (NGS) technologies, by virtue of low cost and high speeds that continue to improve at a rate beyond what is anticipated by Moore's law for computer hardware technologies, have revolutionized molecular biology and genetics research, and have in turn prompted innovative ways to reduce the problem of measuring cellular events involving DNA or RNA into a sequencing problem. In this article, we provide a brief overview of the epigenome, the various types of epigenomic data afforded by NGS, and some of the novel discoveries yielded by the epigenomics projects. We also provide ample references for the reader to get in-depth information on these topics.
