  • Currently, Korean museums use gamification in addition to various viewing methods, such as video and VR/AR. However, museums using museum gamification are still progressing to a special program level. The purpose of this paper is to make the contents of the museum easy to understand and to give the viewers fun. This paper goes beyond the existing museum gamification and proposes a museum story gamification that combines story elements with gamification. This proposal system collects information from each museum in cooperation with museums, art galleries, and exhibition halls and proceeds with related story games. Museum Story Gamification provides related stories according to the theme of the museum and allows viewers to select their own stories. Also, based on the story, you can directly select the difficulty level that suits you and play a personalized game. Unlike the general museum program, the methodology proposed in this paper allows visitors to experience the museum with various story contents. In addition, it will contribute to the development and implementation of programs with gamification in other tourism fields as well as museums.

  • Gamification is an important technology for the museum experience in the future, but there is a lack in both its application and academic studies in Korea. Therefore this study targets the technical strategies of museum gamification by studying domestic and international cases. For this purpose, this study analyzes and compares the cases as personalization, and audience interaction of museum experience and sees how the structure of the digital program affects the museum experience in detail by applying MDA framework to the comparisons. For visitors' active interaction with the museums, gamification should be designed in a way to contribute to visual expression of self identity, utilization of the museum space, constructivist learning free from limit on space and time, and interaction with other people.

  • Current perception of games is divided. On the one hand, they are criticized as harmful entertainment due to their violent content and addictive nature, and on the other hand, they are evaluated positively as products of a creative industry that offers alternative, interactive entertainment. Based on the latter, this paper will reevaluate the positive element of such games in relation to the museum, the canon of historical and cultural evaluation. The analysis on game culture introduction to the museums consists of three categories: the practical application that includes educational, communicational, and promotional purposes; the approval of games as industrial assets and their extensive cultural influence; and the indirect acceptance of art works using games. A panoramic view of game culture development would promote research on the link between game culture and museums; furthermore, it would establish a basis for an introduction of game culture in academia and predict the future of the industry.

  • This paper analyzes museum-related big data using museums and gamification using social media big data, identifies and compares the perceptions of visitors mentioned in social media, and presents ways to use gamification. Based on the collected data, this paper aims to provide data by comparing and analyzing the perception of visitors to the museum and visitors to the museum using gamification. This paper investigates the perception of visitors through social media analysis using TEXTOM, a social media analysis tool, to identify differences in perception. As a result of the analysis, it was found that compared to museums that were previously viewed in the form of exhibitions, they felt fun and interest in visiting museums using geikipication. In addition, based on the analysis results of keywords and related keywords, the perception, motivation, and type of viewing of the museum of the National Museum of Korea and the Independence Hall of Korea were confirmed. In addition, it can be seen that the sense of achievement of visitors who visited the museum using gamification is higher than that of the existing museum. It is believed that by developing and activating game-related content in future museum visits, many visitors will be able to increase their interest in the museum and feel fun and interested.
