  • This paper proposes a method for the acoustic imaging wherein the traditional requirement of the relative movement between the transmitter and target is overcome. This is facilitated through the beamforming acoustic array in the transmitter, in which the target is illuminated by the array at various azimuth and elevation angles without the physical movement of the acoustic array. The concept of beam steering of the acoustic array facilitates the formation of the beam at desired angular positions of azimuth and elevation angles. This paper substantiates that the combination of illumination of the target from different azimuth and elevation angles with respect to the transmitter (through the beam steering of beam forming acoustic array) and the beam steering at multiple frequencies (through SF) results in enhanced reconstruction of images of the target in the underwater scenario. This paper also demonstrates the possibility of reconstruction of the image of a target in underwater without invoking the traditional algorithms of Digital Image Processing (DIP). This paper comprehensively and succinctly presents all the empirical formulae required for modelling the acoustic medium and the target to facilitate the reader with a comprehensive summary document incorporating the various parameters of multi-disciplinary nature.

  • For Romantic women writers the paratext itself is essentially a masculine literary space affiliated with established writing practices; however, this paper suggests that Charlotte Turner Smith's mode of discourse in her use of notes and their relation to the text proper are never fixed in her contemplative blank-verse long poem, Beachy Head (1807). Even though the display of learning in the paratext partly supports the woman writer's claim to authority, this paper argues that Smith's endnotes also indicate her way of challenging the double bind for women writers, summoning masculine authority on the margins of her book while simultaneously interrogating essentialist thinking and instructions about one's identity in a culture and on the printed page. The poem shows how the fringes of the book can be effectively transformed from a masculine site of authority to an increasingly feminized site of interchange as Smith writes with an awareness of patriarchal, imperial abuses of power in that area of the book. There is a persistent transgression of cultural/textual boundaries occurring in Beachy Head, which explores the very scene and languages of imperial encounter. Accordingly, if Wordsworth's theory of composition suggests a subjective and abstract poetic experience-an experience without mediation-in which its medium's purpose seems to be to disappear from the reader's consciousness, an examination of the alternative discourse of self-exposure in Smith's poem reveals the essentially fluid nature of media-consciousness in the Romantic era, which remains little acknowledged in received accounts of Romantic literary culture.

  • RTLS used to track the location of object or person in real time. However, if there are a lot of tags and readers, the conventional single RTLS server may fail to estimate location of tags. And if the server cannot receive the tags signal due to pass-loss or NLOS from more than three readers, the server fail to estimate location of tags. In this paper, we propose a special reader which embeds RTLS location engine for distributed RTLS. And by using multi-directional antenna, alleviating multi-path effect and allowing estimate tag's location only using two readers. We also implement the system, we can reduce server packet 16times and get the all results of location estimate in single second. We achieved the location error within 1m.

  • In this study, we investigated the number of categories of veterinary medical devices registered by Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency (QIA) by 2013. We also analyzed the sales of the veterinary medical devices reported from Korea Animal Health Product Association (KAHPA) from 2011 to 2013. The registration rate of veterinary medical devices has sharply increased since 2008, and a total of 495 categories from 141 companies were registered by the end of 2013. The multi-frequency products registered for companion animals were ultrasound imaging system, x-ray system, microchip & reader, telemetry system transmitter, and hematology analyzer. The veterinary medical devices for farm animals include marker, artificial insemination catheter, injector, and ultrasound imaging system. Of these products, the multi-frequency products dominated on the veterinary medical devices market. The market size of 223 (45.0%) veterinary medical devices was estimated to be approximately 20.6 billion Won in 2013; the proportion of domestic products and imports was 56% to 44%; the proportion of domestic demand and export was 82% to 18%, respectively. This study suggested that the registration and sales of the veterinary medical devices have gradually increased as the demand of health care services got bigger in Korea.

  • Currently RFID code systems are classified into ISO, EPC, uCode, KKR code, Mobile RFID code, and etc. According to RFID code systems, RFID system is changed. For various RFID code systems, it's difficult to make it to the network and permanence of RFID business. And the existing system isn't add new RFID code systems to RFID system, and change it efficiently. This paper is proposed to a system of Multi RFID code Identification Translation using Ontology. This system is able to identify code data from RFID reader using ontology build into the identifier info and translation info of RFID code systems, and translate to URN data. Therefore in case of extending and changing RFID code systems, we can add and change the identifier info and translation info of RFID code systems in ontology.

  • In this letter, we propose a novel printed helix antenna for RFID reader in UHF band. The printed strip line of the antenna is first wound up outside a polygonal shaped layer and then the winding continues on an inner layer to control the overall gain and the radiation pattern. In addition, the winding pitch angles on each layer have either negative or positive values resulting in the broad CP bandwidth. The detail structure of the antenna was optimized using Pareto genetic algorithm(GA), so as to obtain excellent performances for RFID reader antennas. The optimized two-layered polygonal helix was fabricated on the cardboard of a flexible substrate and the performances were measured and compared with the simulations. The fabricated antenna was made up of copper tape which can adhere to a flexible cardboard and had 21.4 % matching bandwidth, 31.9 % CP bandwidth, readable range of $5.5m^2$ with kr=3.2. Also based on the current distribution of the strip line of the antenna and sensitivity of the antenna bents points, we confirmed that the antenna has the quarter-wave transformer near the feed for the broad matching bandwidth and radiates the traveling wave for the broad CP bandwidth using the bent strip line.

  • This paper presents the VHDL implementation procedure of the passive RFID tag in Ultra High Frequency RFID system. The operation of the tag compatible with the EPCglobal Class1 Generation2(GEN2) protocol is verified by timing simulation after synthesis and implementation on prototyping board. Due to the reading range with relatively large distance, a passive tag needs digital processor which facilitates faster decoding, encoding and state transition for enhancement of the interrogation rate. Also with UART communication, verify a inventory Round in Gen2 Protocol. The verification results with the fastest data rate, 640kbps, and multi tags environment scenario show that the implemented tag spend 1.4ms transmitting the 96bits EPC to reader.

  • In this paper, we introduce a new framework for running the finite element (FE) packages inside an online Loop together with MATLAB. Contrary to the Hardware-in-the-Loop techniques (HiL), in the proposed Software-in-the-Loop framework (SiL), the FE package represents a simulation platform replicating the real system which can be out of access due to several strategic reasons, e.g., costs and accessibility. Practically, SiL for sophisticated structural design and multi-physical simulations provides a platform for preliminary tests before prototyping and mass production. This feature may reduce the new product's costs significantly and may add several flexibilities in implementing different instruments with the goal of shortlisting the most cost-effective ones before moving to real-time experiments for the civil and mechanical systems. The proposed SiL interconnection is not limited to ABAQUS as long as the host FE package is capable of executing user-defined commands in FORTRAN language. The focal point of this research is on using the compiled FORTRAN subroutine as a messenger between ABAQUS/CAE kernel and MATLAB Engine. In order to show the generality of the proposed scheme, the limitations of the available SiL schemes in the literature are addressed in this paper. Additionally, all technical details for establishing the connection between FEM and MATLAB are provided for the interested reader. Finally, two numerical sub-problems are defined for offline and online post-processing, i.e., offline optimization and closed-loop system performance analysis in control theory.
