  • In this paper, a fuzzy-neural hybrid control approach is proposed for controlling a mobile robot that can avoid an unexpected obstacle in a navigational space. First, to describe the global structure of a known environment, a heuristic collision-free space band is introduced. Based on the band, the moving information in the known environment is trained to a neural controller. Then, during the execution of a mobile robot navigation moving information at each position is given the neural controller. If the mobile robot encounters an unexpected obstacle, a fuzzy controller activates to avoid the unexpected obstacle. Finally, some numerical examples are presented to demonstrate the control algorithm.

  • This paper is study of solving vibration problem occurred in moving hand of wafer transfer robot in semiconductor manufacturing line. Long settling time for decreasing vibration makes low production rate, and moreover the excessive vibration of hand sometimes breaks the wafer in a cassette. The ways of reducing the moving speed and changing the type of motion profile did not help for lessening vibration. Therefore, we analyzed the mechanical property of the hand such as natural frequency, and frequency component of the motion profile currently used in the manufacturing line. In several conditions of motion profile, we found the best condition of which the frequency component in near of natural frequency of the hand is minimal and this induced small vibration in moving hand. The results were verified theoretically and experimentally using frequency analysis.

  • In this paper, we address the problem of controlling an end-effector to track and grab a moving target using the visual servoing technique. A visual servo mechanism based on the image-based servoing principle, is proposed by using visual feedback to control an end-effector without calibrated robot and camera models. Firstly, we consider the control problem as a nonlinear least squares optimization and update the joint angles through the Taylor Series Expansion. And to track a moving target in real time, the Jacobian estimation scheme(Dynamic Broyden's Method) is used to estimate the combined robot and image Jacobian. Using this algorithm, we can drive the objective function value to a neighborhood of zero. To show the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm, simulation results for a six degree of freedom robot are presented.

  • In the case of outdoor moving of robot, it is differ to indoor moving case due to it cannot prepare map early for entire outdoor environments, there is nearly no research based on map because most outdoor robots use GPS. In this paper, we implement outdoor robot localization that using precision GPS and then GPS data applying MCL algorithm in outdoor environments of plane of 2 dimensional without incline section. We also perform a simple mission scenario by using applied robot localization in outdoor robot. We applying OpenRTM based on middleware, we can be controlled and grasped situation of the outdoor robot by remote through server by manager.

  • A quadruped monitoring robot is introduced. The robot has several features that poses arbitrary position thanks to a 4-wheel hive mechanism, transmits an image and command data via RF wireless communication, and moreover, the imaged date are transferred through a network communication. The robot plays a role in monitoring what is happening around the robot and covers wide range due to a moving camera operated by the 4-wheel mechanism. The robot system can be applied k versatile models based the distinguished techniques introduced in this paper

  • A new localization algorithm is proposed for a fast moving mobile robot, which utilizes only one beacon and the global features of the differential-driving mobile robot. It takes a relatively long time to localize a mobile robot with active beacon sensors since the distance to the beacon is measured by the traveling time of the ultrasonic signal. When the mobile robot is moving slowly the measurement time does not yield a high error. At a higher mobile robot speed, however, the localization error becomes too large to locate the mobile robot. Therefore, in high-speed mobile robot operations, instead of using two or more active beacons for localization, only one active beacon and the global features of the mobile robot are used to localize the mobile robot in this research. The two global features are the radius and center of the rotational motion for the differential-driving mobile robot which generally describe motion of the mobile robot and are used for the trace prediction of the mobile robot. In high speed operations the localizer finds an intersection point of this predicted trace and a circle which is centered at the beacon and has the radius of the distance between the mobile robot and the beacon. This new approach resolves the large localization error caused by the high speed of the mobile robot. The performance of the new localization algorithm has been verified through the experiments with a high-speed mobile robot.

  • This paper proposes a moving object detection algorithm for active camera system that can be applied to mobile robot and intelligent surveillance system. Most of moving object detection algorithms based on a stationary camera system. These algorithms used fixed surveillance system that does not consider the motion of the background or robot tracking system that track pre-learned object. Unlike the stationary camera system, the active camera system has a problem that is difficult to extract the moving object due to the error occurred by the movement of camera. In order to overcome this problem, the motion of the camera was compensated by using SURF and Pseudo Perspective model, and then the moving object is extracted efficiently using stochastic Label Cluster transport model. This method is possible to detect moving object because that minimizes effect of the background movement. Our approach proves robust and effective in terms of moving object detection in active camera system.

  • The cleaning robot is popularly used as a home appliance. The state-of-the-art cleaning robot can clean more efficiently by using information gathered from its sensor, which is difficult for low-price cleaning robots due to limitation in this aspect. In this paper, we suggested a method for the moving pattern of cleaning robot based on grammatical evolution. Optimized program is generated by using moving pattern grammar, which is defined by Backus-Naur form. In addition, conditional probability is used between each of the grammar elements during the program creation process. The proposed method is evaluated by robot simulation in order to verify its performance and further compare it with existing algorithms. The experiment results showed that the proposed method is better than the compared algorithms.

  • The exact path following of an autonomous mobile robot in a factory and an unreliable environment has many disadvantages in case of a classical control algorithm. In this paper, a neural network control approach based on an error back propagation algorithm is proposed for controlling a mobile robot to follow a line installed on the road. Since not only the three recognized informations from three sensors attached on a mobile robot but also the ten detailed informations in non recognition area are learned with input patterns, a mobile robot moves smoothly an installed line in spite of non perception space. The mobile robot has an effect of error minimization with a short time till a destination. To test an effectiveness of the proposed controller, the two motor velocity changes which is affected from a moving angle change of a mobile robot are simulated with computer.
