  • In this paper, we propose interface circuits for reducing power consumption and EMI when sequences of data from LCD controller to LCD driver IC by transmitting two bit data during one clock period. The proposed circuits are operated in current mode, which is different from conventional voltage-mode signaling techniques, and also employ threshold technique of Modified-LVDS(Low Voltage Differential Signaling) method. We have simulated the proposed circuits using H-SPICE tool for performance analysis of the proposed method. The simulation results show that the proposed circuits provide a faster transmission speed and stronger noise immunity than the conventional LVDS circuits. It might be suitable for the real-time transmission of huge image data in LCD system.

  • The Passively-Cooled Molten Salt Fast Reactor (PMFR) is one of the advanced design concepts of the Molten Salt Fast Reactor (MSFR) which utilizes a natural circulation for the primary loop and aims to attain a long-life operation without any means of fuel reprocessing. For an extended operation period, it is necessary to have enough fissile material, i.e., high excess reactivity, at the onset of operation. Since the PMFR is based on a fast neutron spectrum, direct implementation of a burnable absorber concept for the control of excess reactivity would be ineffective. Therefore, a localized moderator concept that encircles the active core has been envisioned for the PMFR which enables the effective utilization of a burnable absorber to achieve low reactivity swing and long-life operation. The modified PMFR design that incorporates a moderator and burnable absorber is presented, where depletion calculation is performed to estimate the reactor lifetime and reactivity swing to assess the feasibility of the proposed design. All the presented neutronic analysis has been conducted based on the Monte Carlo Serpent2 code with ENDF/B-VII.1 library.

  • TDC(Time Delay Control) deals with the time-varying system parameters, unknown dynamics and unexpected disturbances using time delay. TDC can be divided into two separate parts: an auxiliary controller and a servo controller. The two controllers can be designed independently. The auxiliary controller is used to reduce sensitivity to parameter variations, nonlinear effects, and other disturbances. The servo controller is to reduce the error between the desired command and output. We propose the model-following time delay controller with modified error feedback controller. This was applied to follow the desired reference model for the uncertain time-varying overhead crane. The model generates the damped-out swinging motion trajectory to suppress the swinging motion caused by the acceleration and the deceleration of crane transportation. The control performance was evaluated through simulations. The theoretical results indicate that this control method shows excellent performance to an overhead crane with the uncertain time-varying parameters.

  • This hybrid position/force control for the dynamic walking of the biped robot is performed in this paper. After the biped robot was modeled with 14 degrees of freedom of the multibody dynamics, the equations of motion are constructed using velocity transformation technique. Then the inverse dynamic analysis is performed for determining the driving torques and the ground reaction forces. From this analysis, obtains the maximum ground contact force at the moment of contacting which act on the rear of the sole of swing leg and the distribution curve of the ground reaction. Because these maximum force and distribution type acts an important role to the stability of the whole dynamic walking, they are reduced and distributed smoothly by means of the trajectory of the modified ground reaction force. This new trajectory is used to the reference input for more stable dynamic walking of the whole walking region.

  • Natural gas reformed hydrogen is used as a fuel of fuel cell vehicle, PSA process is used for the purification of reformed hydrogen. In this study, the performance of CO adsorbent in PSA process was evaluated. Zeolite adsorbents used in the commercial PSA process is used. The physical and chemical properties of adsorbents were characterized using BET apparatus, XRD, and FE-SEM. The breakthrough apparatus modified from GC was used for the CO breakthrough experiment, the quantitative analysis of CO adsorption capacity was performed using CO breakthrough curve. Zeolite 10X and 13X showed superior CO adsorption capacity than activated alumina. The CO adsorption capacity of zeolite 10X is more than twice of zeolite 13X even the BET surface area is low. It seems that the presence of $Ca^{2+}$ cation in zeolite 10X is beneficial to the adsorption of CO.

  • This paper has presented the influence of scaling theory on short channel effects of double gate(DG) MOSFET in subthreshold region. In the case of conventional MOSFET, to preserve constantly output characteristics, current and switching frequency have been analyzed based on scaling theory. To analyze the results of application of scaling theory for short channel effects of DGMOSFET, the changes of threshold voltage, drain induced barrier height and subthreshold swing have been observed according to scaling factor. The analytical potential distribution of Poisson equation already verified has been used. As a result, it has been observed that threshold voltage among short channel effects is grealty changed according to scaling factor. The best scaling theory for DGMOSFET has been explained as using modified scaling theory, applying weighting factor reflected the influence of two gates when scaling theory has been applied for channel length.

  • Pressure swing adsorption (PSA) process using CMS as an oxygen purifier was developed to produce high purity oxygen over $99\%$ with high productivity. The cyclic performances such as purity, recovery, and productivity of PSA process were compared experimentally and theoretically under the non-isothermal condition. A binary ($O_2$/Ar 95:5 vol.$\%$) and two kinds of ternary ($O_2/Ar/N_2$ 95:4:1 and 90:4:6 vol.$\%$) mixtures were used as feed gases. The developed process with the consecutive two blowdown steps produced the oxygen with $99.8\%$ purity and $56\%$ recovery from $95\%$ oxygen containing feed. However, in the feed with $90\%$ oxygen, the $O_2$ Purity was decreased up to $97.3\%$. In addition, because the cyclic performances of the suggested process was significantly affected by the diffusion rate, the non-isothermal model with the the modified LDF model was applied for the process simulation. The concentration-dependent rate parameter of the applied rate model was incorporated with the Langmuir isotherm.

  • Many important traits have been tagged allowing plant breeders to apply marker assisted selection (MAS) in rice. PCR itself is simple to set up, and requires little hands-on time. However, a crucial limiting step of MAS programs is the reliable and efficient extraction of DNA which can be performed on thousands of individuals. In this study, We describe a modification of the DNA extraction method, in which cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) is used to extract DNA from leaf tissues for suitable MAS in rice. We followed the standard 2% CTAB extraction method in all the procedure. In addition we used the 1.2 ml 8-strip tube instead of 1.5 ml E-tubes to fit the 8-multichannel pipette and employ the 96 well plate to use the swing bucket centrifuge. Our modified CTAB DNA extraction method offers several advantages with respect to traditional and simple methods. 1) adult leaf samples collected in paddy field are applicable. 2) 96 leaf samples can be homogenized only one-time by using tungsten carbonate bead and 96well block. 3) semiautomatic loading method using 8-multichannel pipette from DNA extraction to electrophoresis of PCR products. 4) our system can extract about 400 leaf samples per day by only one technicion. Therefore, this method could be useful for marker assisted breeding in rice.

  • Ship motion is a complex controlled process with several hydrodynamic parameters that vary in wide ranges with respect to ship load condition, speed and surrounding conditions (such as wind, current, tide, etc.). Therefore, to effectively control ships in a designed track is always an important task for ship masters. This paper presents an effective adaptive autopilot ships that ensure the optimal accuracy, economy and stability characteristics. The PID control methodology is modified and parameters of a PID controller is designed to satisfy conditions for an optimal objective function that comprised by heading error, resistance and drift during changing course, and loss of surge velocity or fuel consumption. Designing of the controller for course changing process is based on the Model Reference Adaptive System (MRAS) control theory, while as designing of the automatic course keeping process is based on the Self Tuning Regulator (STR) control theory. Simulation (using MATLAB software) in various disturbance conditions shows that in comparison with conventional PID autopilots, the designed autopilot has several notable advantages: higher course turning speed, lower swing of ship bow even in strong waves and winds, high accuracy of course keeping, shorter time of rudder actions smaller times of changing rudder direction.
