In this study, a complete 3D surface reconstruction method is proposed based on the concept that the vertices, of surface model can be completely matched to the unstructured point cloud. In order to generate the initial mesh model from the point cloud, the mesh subdivision of bounding box and shrink-wrapping algorithm are introduced. The control mesh model for well representing the topology of point cloud is derived from the initial mesh model by using the mesh simplification technique based on the original QEM algorithm, and the parametric surface model for approximately representing the geometry of point cloud is derived by applying the local subdivision surface fitting scheme on the control mesh model. And, to reconstruct the complete matching surface model, the insertion of isolated points on the parametric surface model and the mesh optimization are carried out. Especially, the fast 3D surface reconstruction is realized by introducing the voxel-based nearest-point search algorithm, and the simulation results reveal the availability of the proposed surface reconstruction method.

A dynamic modeling procedure for developing a control model of the driving system of a heavy industrial vehicle is presented. The dynamic model is derived by applying generalized Lagrangian equations to each component of the system and imposing kinematic relations between components as constraints. In order to obtain the control model, a few assumptions are made for the simplification of the nonlinear and complicated model, which is justified by the comparison of the simulation results of the original full nonlinear model and the simplified control model.

In the nuclear industry, in order to keep pace with the 4th industrial revolution era, they are trying to improve the construction and maintenance ability by utilizing the technologies such as digital twin and VR/AR from the construction stage. However, the nuclear 3D CAD model, which is used as the base in the latest technology, is heavy due to a large number of facilities per unit space compared to other industrial companies, and it is difficult to directly incorporate the latest technology into the results of CAD programs for design purposes. In this study, in order to improve usability, we tried to lighten the 3D model. First, we analyze the existing nuclear power plant 3D model and draw out the problems and features. Secondly, we derived the factors to consider when we make the 3D CAD models lightweight.

In this paper, a mesh simplification algorithm using face constriction is proposed which considers the conservation of the volume of a 3D model. The face constriction method replaces three vertices of the candidate triangle with a new vertex, removing four faces at once. We propose a modified method, compensating an existing method, of considering curvature in the decision of the removing order of triangles. We also propose a method of determining a new vertex replacing the candidate triangle, which reflects curvature difference of the three surrounding areas of the three vertices of the triangle, while conserving the volume. It is shown by simulation that the proposed method conserves the volume and shows good constriction performance comparable to the other methods.

In this paper, we propose a method for predicting in advance whether pedestrians will enter the hazardous area after the current time using the pedestrian trajectory prediction method and an efficient simplification method of the trajectory prediction network. In addition, we propose a method to apply KD(Knowledge Distillation) to a small network for real-time operation in an embedded environment. Using the correlation between predicted future paths and hazard zones, we determined whether to enter or not, and applied efficient KD when learning small networks to minimize performance degradation. Experimentally, it was confirmed that the model applied with the simplification method proposed improved the speed by 37.49% compared to the existing model, but led to a slight decrease in accuracy. As a result of learning a small network with an initial accuracy of 91.43% using KD, It was confirmed that it has improved accuracy of 94.76%.

The purpose of this paper is to propose an analytical method for evaluating user satisfaction of Internet websites using the structural equation model(SEM). This paper is intended to identify critical evaluation factors of user satisfaction for websites to determine criteria for evaluating the websites, and use the criteria to develop a SEM model for quantitatively evaluation of each factors' effects of user satisfaction. The SEM model used 2 variables of usability and good-looks for the evaluation factors of websites user satisfaction and each factors have 4 sub evaluation criteria, 3 portal sites were evaluated to construct the SEM model, and 155 subjects participated the website evaluation using the walk-through and face-to-face survey method. Analysis results showed that the SEM model was statistically significant for all the 3 websites evaluated. Both the usability and good-looks two factors also showed significant effects to user satisfaction of websites and have positive correlation. The user satisfaction was more effected by the usability factor than good-looks, and the simplification and harmonization were the most critical sub-factors of the usability and good-looks.
The common requirements for watermarking are usually invisibility, robustness, and capacity. We proposed the watermarking for 3D mesh model based on projection onto convex sets for invisibility and robustness among requirements. As such, a 3D mesh model is projected alternatively onto two convex sets until it converge a point. The robustness convex set is designed to be able to embed watermark into the distance distribution of vertices. The invisibility convex set is designed for the watermark to be invisible based on the limit range of vertex movement. The watermark can be extracted using the decision values and index that the watermark was embedded with. Experimental results verify that the watermarked mesh model has both robustness against mesh simplification, cropping, affine transformations, and vertex randomization and invisibility.

This study concerns an advanced 3D surface reconstruction method that the vertices of surface model can be completely matched to the unstructured point cloud measured from arbitrary complex shapes. The concept of bounding voxel model is introduced to generate the mesh model well-representing the geometrical and topological characteristics of point cloud. In the reconstruction processes, the application of various methodologies such as shrink-wrapping, mesh simplification, local subdivision surface fitting, insertion of is isolated points, mesh optimization and so on, are required. Especially, the effectiveness, rapidity and reliability of the proposed surface reconstruction method are demonstrated by the simulation results for the geometrically and topologically complex shapes like dragon and human mouth.

The model reduction method of the high order linear time invariant systems is proposed. The continuous fraction expansion of Auxiliary denominator polynomial is used to obtain denominator polynomial of the reduced order model, and the numerator polynomial of the reduced order model is obtained by equating the first some moments of the original and the reduced order model, using simplified moment function. This methiod does not require the calculation of the reciprocal transformation which should be calculated in Routh approximation, furthemore the stability of the reduced order model is guaranted if original system is stable. Responses of this method showed us good characteristics.
Steel Plate Shear Walls (SPSWs) have been accepted widely as an effective lateral load resisting system. For seismic performance evaluation of a multi-story building with SPSWs, detailed finite element models or a strip model can be used to represent the SPSW components. However, such models often require significant effort for tall or medium height buildings. In order to simplify the analysis process, discrete elements for the framing members can be used. This paper presents development of a simplified equivalent braced model to study the behavior of the SPSWs. The proposed model is expected to facilitate a simplification to the structural modeling of large buildings with SPSWs in order to evaluate the seismic performance using regular structural analysis tools. It is observed that the proposed model can capture the global behavior of the structures quite accurately and potentially aid in the performance-based seismic design of SPSW buildings.
