  • Since 'teaching coding' or 'programming' classes for computational thinking (CT) education in K-12 are renowned around the world, a pre-service teachers' readiness for integrating CT into their teaching subjects is important due to the fact that CT is considered to be another 'R' from algoRitm for 21st century literacy, in addition to the traditional 3R (Reading, Writhing, and Arithmetic) [2] and CT roles to other disciplines. With this rationale, we designed a guided instruction based CT course for pre-service teachers. We show the effectiveness of the program with respect to the teachers' attitude toward combining CT into their teaching subjects, and mindset changes of learning computing connected with the career development of the teacher themselves. The research focused on the instructional methodology of teaching programing for non-Computer Science Education (CSE) majors who are not familiar with computer science for alleviating the cognitive load of first exposure to programming course under the CT concepts.

  • Design policy in Korea has been dealt as one of the industrial policies in economic policies, and it can be classified as government driven. A problem derived from this is that previous design policies have only pursued creating material values, and have overlooked the emotional values of design, such as creating cultural identity of Korea and cultural independence through it. Therefore, a new mindset of 'Cultural Era of Design' and a new role of 'Designers as Producers of Culture' must be in the strategy and system for supporting the design in Korea. This study can be divided into three major parts. First part compares and examines current design policies of Korea to seek more suitable design policies. Second part suggests a new direction for design policy by analyzing the ideas and cases of such policies. Third part surveys designers and people in related fields to collect opinions about design policies in Korea to propose directions for new design policies and ways to evaluate them. The object of this process is to find out how they, in the center of design and cultural industries, see and follow the policies. It will aid the narrowing of perceptual gap between them and the developers of policies.

  • The college students were faced with not just technical challenges that require skill acquisition but adaptive challenges that require transforming one's mindset to a more complex way of making meaning. The purpose of this study was confirmed the relations among the help-seeking behavior, self-disclosure and self-concealment of 343 female college students'. As a result of data analysis, positive help seeking attitude was higher when the level of self-concealment was lower and self-disclosure, but regarding help-seeking intention, consultation intention was shown to be higher in the case of lower self-disclosure and higher self-concealment. Therefore, female college students need to visit college consultation centers more often while attending college and it needs to provide those students with mediation so that they can use mental health consultation services easily.

  • This study compares two teaching methods in an introductory statistics course at a large state university. The first method is the traditional lecture-based approach. The second method implements a flipped classroom that incorporates the recommendations of the American Statistical Association's Guidelines for Assessment and Instruction in Statistics Education (GAISE) College Report. We compare these two methods, based on student performance, illustrate the procedures of the flipped pedagogy, and discuss the impact of aligning our course to current guidelines for teaching statistics at the college level. Results show that students in the flipped class performed better than students in traditional delivery. Student questionnaire responses also indicate that students in flipped delivery aligned with the GAISE recommendations have built a productive mindset in statistics.

Among the 567 business which have been supported by the project, implemented in 1990 by the Department of Rural-Home-Improvement of the Rural Development Administration, 361 (63.7%) can be categorized as being in the self-supporting stage. Another 126 (22.2%) can be said to be in the incubation stage. Data for the case study was collected from 20 project sites. The“NONGCHON ILGAM GATCI”project has been progressing successfully when compared with other rural development projects. However, there are still some problems. Among the problems are the lack of a business mindset and management abilities in individuals, and the fact that the businesses and their products are not well hewn on the market. To remedy these problems, education toward improving business and management skills, a unified public relations system, and institutional support from the government are greatly needed.

Methods: The participants were 25 breast cancer survivors who had completed treatment at a tertiary hospital in Seoul. Data were collected through in-depth and unstructured audio-recorded interviews by the investigator. The participants were asked to describe their illness experience. The data were analyzed according to Giorgi's method for phenomenological analysis. Results: The interview data were organized by theme into 6 categories that emerged from the analysis. The themes were acceptance of the illness, active coping with reality, gaining strength through the support of surrounding people, struggling to overcome a negative mindset, self-reflection, and the pursuit of a meaningful new life. Conclusion: We recommend the development of a survivorship program based on self-reflection, which can engender self-transcendence and spiritual well-being.
