Development of modern dentistry in Korea (한국 현대 치의학의 발전 1946-1969년 논문, 증례보고, 종설 및 학술강연회 연제를 중심으로)

  • Korean dentist's new mission was extended in dental practice field since the National Liberation Day of Korea. Modern dentistry development were due to the introduction of american dentistry, the development of Military dentistry, the unified academic activities koreans dental Association and improvement of korean dentist system. Modern dentistry development factors were as follows, First, Seoul National University's professors have been sent for studying abroad since May 1954. Thanks to this advanced system, each dental department established branch academy. Researchers and academic activities were increased in Seoul National University, Second, from January 1954, the military started training program to the korean dentists in the United States, and also the korean dentists were sent to the US Army hospital in korea for practical training courses (On the Job Training) so they could get chances to learn the advanced dentistry. During the korean war, the oral surgery dentists enlarged treatments to the maxillofacial field. Third, korean Dental academy meeting, special lectures and tables clinic from 1947 were contributing to the development of modern dentistry in the transmission of knowledge and skills. Since 1955 "Dentistry(齒學)" with a focus on the translation of foreign literature also developed modern dentistry. Since 1958 the International dental conference could broaden dental knowledge, it also provided opportunities to communicate with the world dentistry. On Oct 11, 1962, revised the Articles of association in Korean Dental academy and korean dental association unified meeting and enhanced the conferences. Improvement of korean dentist system in 1964 unified the dentists as new dentist education. Articles, case reports, review articles and academic meetings of korean dental association from 1946 to 1969 analyzed to demonstrate the development of korean modern dentistry, The titles and lectures were classified according to department and they were organized by topic.

  • It is only about one year for Lieutenant officers to adapt to the position after completing continuing education the experienced Lieutenant officer. In addition, while the application rate for short-term service officers is gradually decreasing, it is also affecting the acquisition of excellent resources. In this regard, most of the studies on the development of military school education so far suggest alternatives from a long-term perspective or a comprehensive perspective on education policy, so there is no discussion from a realistic and practical perspective. Accordingly, this study analyzed the actual conditions of the training for remuneration for Lieutenant officers, examined previous studies, drew major issues, established research problems, and analyzed opinions collected through in-depth interviews with civilian education experts and military education stakeholders. As a result of the analysis, policy tasks such as effective curriculum reorganization, upward adjustment of teacher-related grades, and expansion of leadership education were suggested. The results of this study are meaningful in that they provide implications for realistic and practical improvement plans for the qualitative improvement of continuing education for Lieutenant officers in the army.

  • Simulators were introduced in education as a tool to make advanced training standardized, less expensive, and without danger to those involved. In 1922 in the Unites States, Edward Link presented his homemade flight simulator, which became common place in both military and civilian aviation, known as the "Link Trainer". The development of mannequin simulators used for medical simulation education, training, and research is reviewed, tracing the motivations, evolution to commercial availability, and efforts toward assessment of efficacy of those for teaching cardiopulmonary resuscitation(CPR) for medical personnel and emergency medical technicians(EMT), cardiology skills, anaesthesia clinical skills, and crisis management. This study will provide a brief overview of simulators and trainers in several domains.

  • Military camps deal with various types of explosives. For instance, military engineering unit conducts education and training for laying landmines. However, in case of land mine craters installed with regular-level RC, structural safety may be in danger thus there is a necessity to utilize High Performance Fiber-Reinforced Cement Composites (HPFRCC), which has high functionality in protection and blast resistance. Therefore, in this research we conducted an field application of land mine crater of HPFRCC, using the existing optimal fiber mixing ratio and ERCO addition ratio.

  • Various education programs using cyber education in the age of knowledge informatization were introduced to schools, corporate education, military service, lifelong education facilities as well as public employee education and training system. In the case of the national government officials, the education and local civil servants are organized by 15 cities and provincial public officials training institutes, which are organized by the national civil service personnel development center cyber education center. The purpose of this study is to find out the development plan through questionnaires of the students who are in charge of cyber education in the chungcheongnam-do local civil servants.

Educational needs of severe trauma treatment simulation based on mixed reality: Applying focus group interviews to military hospital nurses (혼합현실 기반 중증외상 처치 시뮬레이션 교육 요구 조사: 군병원 간호사 대상 포커스 그룹 인터뷰 적용)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to identify the educational needs of a severe trauma treatment simulation program based on mixed reality which combines element of both virtual reality and augmented reality. Methods: Focus group interviews were conducted with ten military hospital nurses on February 4 and 5, 2021. The collected data were analyzed using a qualitative content analysis. As a framework for data analysis, the educational needs were clustered into the following four categories: teaching contents, teaching methods, teaching evaluation, and teaching environment. Results: The educational needs for each category that emerged were as follows: three subcategories including "realistic education reflecting actual clinical practice" and "motivating education" for teaching contents; five subcategories including "team-based education," "repeated education that acts as embodied learning," and "stepwise education" for teaching methods; six subcategories including "debriefing through video conferences," "team evaluation and evaluator in charge of the team," "combination of knowledge and practice evaluation" for teaching evaluation; six subcategories including "securing safety," "similar settings to real clinical environments," "securing of convenience and accessibility for learners," and "operating as continuing education" for teaching environment. Conclusion: The findings of this study can provide a guide for the development and operation of a severe trauma treatment simulation program based on mixed reality. Moreover, it suggests that research to identify the educational needs of various learners should be conducted.

  • As a method of providing lifelong educational opportunities to working professionals, some legal provisions allowing for the establishment and management of an entrusted education system linked with college and corporation was duly approved in 1994. According to the recent trend in the military organization, to provide higher educational opportunities to noncommissioned officers and warrant officers with the purpose of inspiring their spirit and improving military capabilities has been much increased. Professional soldiers such as noncommissioned officers and warrant officers have a lot of problems to continue their attendance at school because of regular military maneuvers, constant alert status and long-term outdoor military training. Even more serious problem is that the current curriculums and some departments in college are not concurrent with the present job specifications and the military specialties of the individual soldier as well. The purpose of this paper is, therefore, to introduce a newly revised educational model that provides more viable academic courses and curriculums to military professionals along with a proposal for the establishment and management of long distance educational system within barracks, utilizing the latest information and telecommunication technology.

  • This article is focusing on the improvement of weapon system test & evaluation, aimed at the weapon system in the research development stage. This article suggests improvement directions in three aspects(organization and system, skilled manpower and technology, test facilities of weapon system test & evaluation) as follows. 1) Weapon system test & evaluation organization and system a. Establishment of comprehensive test & evaluation system b. Making regulation for comprehensive test infrastructure management. c. Standardization of test & evaluation process, which can be used in special subject to army, navy and air force. 2) Skilled manpower and technology of weapon system test & evaluation a. Training & education, management of test & evaluation experts. b. Establishment of skill management system of test & evaluation. 3) Test facilities of weapon system test & evaluation a. Establishment of comprehensive improvement direction of test & evaluation installation and equipment. b. Consideration of counter measures to prevent overlapping investment, and to use the test & evaluation resources efficiently. c. Establishment of organic network for the effective use of test & evaluation installation and equipment. d. Establishment of detailed cooperation plan for the commonage of test & evaluation facility and equipment.

  • Defense reform our military for the globalization of information. Scientific command structure, troop structure, unit structure, step-by-step into the power structure while promoting a history of quantitative-oriented structure, and structure of the quality of state-of-the-art technology-driven transition in the middle of the bottle numberplans about the current 3.3-fold increase in reducing the cadre(officers and NCOs). NCO groups in the executive, especially expanding the current level of 100% increase in the rate of long-serving, while ensuring a stable job and to superior resources to secure a stable policy through science. Military alliance is now underway. In the midst of this group, and urged the group at the University of the leading military and specialized resources to ensure each agreement required by subjects to reflect. Thus effectively improve the quality of education and the demands of the job analysis, DACUM curriculum development methods and procedures can be applied at the time of urgent need for foster an excellent resource for the discharge of curriculum development at the University of Selected as a core job, career, and job classification configuration inside of Duty according to KST derived from the group reflect on the training courses to meet the requirements in the curriculum through the development of curriculum, job definition, job model set to propose.

Effects of a Bilateral upper Limb Training Program Using a Visual Feedback Method on Individuals with Chronic Stroke: A Pilot Clinical Trial

  • This study aimed to pilot test a newly developed bilateral upper limb rehabilitation training program for improving the upper limb function of individuals with chronic stroke using a visual feedback method. The double-group pretest-posttest design pilot study included 10 individuals with chronic stroke (age >50 years). The intervention (four weekly meetings) consisted of five upper limb training protocols (wrist extension; forearm supination and pronation; elbow extension and shoulder flexion; weight-bearing shift; and shoulder, elbow, and wrist complex movements). Upper limb movement function recovery was assessed with the FuglMeyer Assessment of the Upper Extremity, the Wolf Motor Function Test, the Trunk Control Test, the modified Ashworth Scale, and the visual analog scale at baseline, immediately after, and four weeks after the intervention. The Fatigue Severity Scale was also employed. The Fugl-Meyer Assessment of the Upper Extremity and Wolf Motor Function Test showed significant improvement in upper limb motor function. The Trunk Control Test results increased slightly, and the modified Ashworth Scale decreased slightly, without statistical significance. The visual analog scale scores showed a significant decrease and the Fatigue Severity Scale scores were moderate or low. The bilateral upper limb training program using the visual feedback method could result in slight upper limb function improvements in individuals with chronic stroke.
