자살을 생각한 고등학생들과 그렇지 않은 학생들의 스트레스원과 대응행위 비교 (A Comparison of Stressors and Coping Behaviors of the High School Students who have Suicidal Ideation vs those who do not)

  • This study was conducted to identify and compare the stressors and coping behaviors of high school students who experienced suicidal ideation vs those who do not. Method: The data were collected from 1,441 high school students living in the middle region of Korea. Researchers collected the data using Adolescent Stress Inventory and Adolescent Coping questionnare from February to May of 1999. Data were analyzed using X2, T-test. Result: A significant proportion (31.9%) of subjects had thought about suicide during the past 6 months, 297 girls (35.3%) and 163 boys (27.2%). Major stressors of subjects who experienced suicidal ideation were academic problems, conflicts between family members, and changes in sleeping or eating patterns. Conflicts with family members contributed to have suicidal ideation. There was no significant difference in helpful coping behaviors between the two groups. The group who experienced suicidal ideation had lower scores and fewer coping behaviors. Boys perceived more stressors and had fewer helpful coping behaviors than girls. Conclusion: It is necessary to develope school-based suicide prevention programs. Our findings suggest that the program should focus on problems related to studying and conflicts within the family.

섭식장애 위험군 여중생의 체중, 식습관과 식이자아효능감 (Weight, Eating Habits and Dietary Self-efficacy of Middle School Girls with Eating Disorder)

  • The slimness favored trend made students shape up body image by weight control using restrained eating. Many students especially female ones tend to be in eating disorder status. The aim of this study was to find the relation between weight, eating habits and dietary self efficacy in the selected middle school girl students group with high risk eating disorder (7.9%) and the one with low risk eating disorder (24.1%). This study was conducted by EAT-26 questionnaire method and all the data was analyzed by SAS (Statistical Analysis System) program. The results were as follows; The physical condition of eating disorder students (159.5cm height, 50.7kg weight and 97.4% PIBW) was higher and bigger than that of normal students(158.2 cm, 47.2 kg, and 92.6% PIBW). Weight control experience in the high risk group (69.4%) was significantly more frequent than normal group (p<0.001). The gap between actual body weight and desired weight was higher in high risk eating disorder group than in normal group (p<0.001). Dietary self-efficacy score of middle school female students in the high risk eating disorder group was high when they were in temper, in confusion, and after argument. However, when they were in cooking (p<0.01), with friends (p<0.05), in assembling dishes (p<0.01), and with family (p<0.05) the dietary self-efficacy score of high risk group was lower than that of normal group. In the high risk eating disorder group, eating speed was often faster (p<0.05) and overeating rate (p<0.01) was higher than in normal group. In general, EAT-26 score was correlated positively with gap weight, but negatively correlated with dietary self efficacy score(p<0.01). Gap weight and dietary self efficacy were significantly different in normal group. however, there was no relation in high risk eating disorder group. Under the circumstance of high risk eating disorder, as weight and dietary self efficacy did not affect the relation with eating disorder score, when it is determined as eating disorder some other factors besides weight and diet self efficacy seem to affect the eating disorder score. In conclusion, the factors related with eating disorder were gap weight and some items of dietary self efficacy. Thus, correct understanding of healthy weight and dietary self efficacy enhancement require the development of nutrition education contents and the practice of nutrition education.

여자고등학생의 성 인지에 관한 도ㆍ농간 실태분석 -전남지역을 중심으로- (An Empirical Analysis of Sexual Awareness in Urban and Rural High School Girls)

  • This study examines the different degrees of sexual awareness shown among high school girls in urban and rural areas. The analysis was carried out by dividing these students into urban and rural groups. A questionnaire of 51 questions based on previous studies and a review of the literature was prepared for students in the two groups after two preliminary surveys, a reliability test, and correlation. There were 721 copies of the questionnaire in total which were distributed to students of 2 urban and 4 rural girls' high schools. The analysis of the results was carried out using by means of SPSS 10.0, and it became clear that girl's students' viewpoints toward sex, the actual circumstances of their acquaintance of the opposite sex, the access to information about sex, the content of current sex education at school and the ideal type of sex education, tended to show differences between the two groups. This study showed that the standardized and uniform content and methods of current sex education in public schools does not work properly. Sex education at schools in South Korea has reached a limit of their effectiveness to a point where research into more effective sex education is required.

청소년기 장신구 착장에 관한 연구 - 라이프스타일과 의복행동을 중심으로 - (A Study on the Ornaments Wear of Adolescents - Focusing on the Life Style and Clothing Behavior -)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the disposition of adolescents in their ornament wearing pattern associate with their life style and clothing behavior. The subject of this study consists of 345 middle and high school girls living in Chung-Nam Province and Taejon Metropolitan City. SPSS/PC+ program was utilized to calculated frequency(N), mean value(M) and standard deviation(SD) for statistical analysis. Differences among the populations were examined through f test, ANOVA. The results of this study reveals that the ornaments wearing patterns are significantly different according to their life style and clothing behavior as follows: 1. Correlation between the wear of ornaments and the life style: School girls who pursue the modernistic life style prefer the fashionable ornaments (e.g. sunglasses) and they are always in contact with the latest information. On the contrary, school girls who pursue the practical life style emphasize on the practical use when they purchase the ornaments, e.g. umbrella. School girls having romantic or passive nature have a preference for the brand name and brand image of the ornaments and they in general would like to buy ornaments such as the bracelets. 2. Correlation between the wear of ornaments and the clothing behavior: School girls having sympathetic nature and being deeply interested in clothing put a stress on the latest fashion of the ornaments. They usually want to buy fashionable ornaments such as the cellular phone, beeper and sunglasses. Subjects who estimate themselves by their garments are sensitive to the price of the ornaments while aesthetes emphasize the brand image of the ornaments. Chaste school girls put their emphasis on the quality of the ornaments and they most want to have functional hair bands. Following suggestions can be made based on the discussions above: It is necessary for us to have correct understanding about the correlation between the ornaments and clothing of school girls in order to lead them to have appropriate clothing behavior. Furthermore, it is required to construct a bridge linking a course of study to rational habits guidance which will provide us more appropriate tools for clothing behavior guidance.

자기주도학습과 자기조절학습 프로그램이 수학의 인지적 영역과 정의적 영역에 주는 효과에 대한 메타분석 (Meta-Analysis of Effects of Self-directed and Self-regulated Learning Programs on the Cognitive and Affective Domains of Math)

  • The purpose of this study was to report the effects of self-directed and self-regulated learning programs on elementary, middle, and high school students through meta-analysis of previous studies. For this research, 22 of previous studies were selected which were all conducted in the country, and calculated the effect size of 'standardized change of the mean difference' for many factors included in each research. The findings were as follows: first, the overall effect sizes of self-directed and self-regulated learning programs on elementary, middle, and high school students were .665 and .702 in the affective and cognitive domain, respectively, meaning that the self-directed and self-regulated learning programs had average or greater effects on elementary, middle, and high school students and exerted somewhat greater effects in the cognitive domain. Second, when the areas of moderating effects were divided into self-directed and self-regulated learning, the former and latter had more influences on the cognitive and affective domains, respectively. Third, the elementary school level recorded a larger effect size both in the affective and cognitive domains than the secondary school level. Fourth, the findings show that the characteristics of affective domain, "reflective thinking" and "self-confidence," recorded a very large effect size both at the elementary and secondary school levels. Finally, the programs were more effective when the application period was one to four weeks in the affective domain and more than four weeks in the cognitive domain. And, Significance and implications of this research were discussed.

중학생에서 사상성격검사(SPQ)의 생리심리적 타당화 연구 (Biopsychological Validation of the Sasang Personality Questionnaire in Middle School Students)

  • Objectives The Sasang Personality Questionnaire (SPQ) measures the Yin-Yang temperament of Sasang typology with proven structural and clinical validity in adults, however it was not examined with teenagers. The purpose of this study was to validate the biopsychological structure of SPQ in middle school students.Methods 681 Korean high school students (356 boys and 325 girls) completed SPQ, Junior version of Temperament and Character Inventory (JTCI), and height and weight measures. The correlation between SPQ and JTCI subscales were examined, and the differences of SPQ and JTCI subscales, Body Mass Index (BMI) and Pondera Index (PI) among high (30%), middle (40%), and low (30%) SPQ total score groups were investigated with Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). The profile analysis was also performed to compare JTCI subscale profiles of three SPQ total score groups.Results The SPQ score was significantly (p<0.001) correlated positively with JTCI Novelty-Seeking and negatively with JTCI Harm-Avoidance. The JTCI Novelty-Seeking score of high SPQ group was significantly (p<0.001) higher than that of low SPQ group, and the JTCI Harm-Avoidance score of low SPQ group was significantly higher than that of high SPQ group. The JTCI subscale profiles for three SPQ groups were significantly different for boys and girls. Significant correlations or differences for the PI and BMI among SPQ groups were not found.Conclusions This study presented that the biopsychological structure of SPQ is robust as shown in adults. The SPQ would be a useful clinical measures of Sasang typology in pediatric patients.

Big 5 성격요인에 따른 청소년 성격특성의 발달적 변화 (Developmental Changes of Adolescent's Big Five Personality Factors)

  • 본 연구는 중 고등학교 학생 2,260명을 대상으로 Big 5 성격요인에 따른 청소년 성격특성에 발달적 변화가 있는지 알아보고자 한다. 성별과 학년에 따라 성격 5요인의 발달적 변화에 차이를 보이는지 확인하였고, 더불어 신경증 하위요인을 추가적으로 분석함으로써 청소년기 문제행동 시기와 특성을 확인 하였다. 분석에는 일원배치변량분석(One-way ANOVA)을 사용하였으며 유의미한 차이가 난 경우 사후검증을 실시하였다. 연구 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 청소년의 성격 5요인 특성이 성별에 따라 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 개방성, 성실성, 외향성은 여자가 남자보다 높게 나타났고, 신경증은 남자가 여자보다 높게 나타났다. 둘째, 청소년의 성격 5요인 특성 모두에서 학년에 따라 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 청소년기 성격특성에 대한 성별에 따른 학년별 발달적 경향성에서도 성별 간 다른 양상을 보이는 것으로 나타났다. 특히 성별과 학년에 따른 분석에서 남자는 중등 2학년, 여자는 고등 3학년에서 성격특성이 두드러질 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 신경증과 관련된 외현화 행동문제는 중등 1 2학년에서 내현화 행동문제는 고등 3학년에서 주로 발현될 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 현재 우리나라 청소년 성격특성의 발달적 변화를 확인할 수 있었으며, 또한 성별과 학년에 따라 상이한 정신건강문제가 발현 될 수 있는 것으로 나타났다.

9시 등교정책이 중학생의 아침식사, 수면 및 신체활동에 미치는 영향 (Effects of School Attendance Policy on Breakfast Eating, Sleep, and Physical Activity in Middle School Students)

  • 경기도 안산지역에 위치한 중학교에 재학 중인 2학년과 3학년 426명을 대상으로 9시 등교정책 실시에 따른 아침식사 섭취 빈도의 증가와 더불어 아침식사 관련인자, 간식, 수면 및 신체활동에 미치는 영향 및 이들의 인식도에 대해 조사한 후 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 연구 대상자의 성별은 남학생이 222명(52.1%), 여학생이 204명(47.9%)이었으며 학년은 2학년 228명(53.5%), 3학년 198명(46.5%)이었다. 9시 등교정책 전 남학생의 약 39%가 '매일 식사를 했다'고 응답한 반면, 9시 등교정책 후에는 44.6%가 매일 아침식사를 하는 것으로 나타났다(P>0.05). 여학생 또한 9시 등교정책 후 정책 전의 32.4%에서 35.8%로 약간 상승하는 것으로 나타났다(P<0.05). 아침결식의 주된 이유는 9시 등교정책의 실시와 성별에 관계없이 '아침식사 시간의 부족', '입맛이 없어서'와 '늦게 일어나서'라는 응답 비율이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 간식 섭취 빈도는 9시 등교정책과 성별에 관계없이 '1~2회'가 가장 많았으나 9시 등교정책 전(P<0.05)과 후(P<0.05) 모두 '3~4회'와 '5회 이상'은 남학생에 비해 여학생의 간식 섭취 빈도가 많은 것으로 나타났다. 간식 섭취의 주된 이유는 9시 등교정책과 성별에 관계없이 '배가 고파서'라는 이유가 가장 많은 것으로 나타났다. 수면시간은 9시 등교정책 전과 후 모두 성별에 관계없이 '7~8시간'이라는 응답이 가장 많은 것으로 나타났으나 9시 등교정책 후 남학생과 여학생 모두 '8~9시간'의 응답 비율은 증가한 반면에 '7시간 미만'이라는 응답 비율은 감소하는 것으로 나타나 남학생(P<0.05)과 여학생(P<0.01) 모두 9시 등교정책의 실시로 인해 수면시간이 증가한 것으로 보인다. 그러나 9시 등교정책 전(P<0.001)과 후(P<0.01) 모두 남학생에 비해 여학생의 수면시간은 상대적으로 적은 것으로 나타났다. 일주일에 30분 이상의 운동을 하는 빈도를 조사한 결과 9시 등교정책 전 남학생은 '3~4회'가 27.5%로 가장 많은 반면, 여학생은 '0회'가 44.1%로 가장 많은 것으로 나타났다(P<0.001). 9시 등교정책 이후에도 남학생의 주당 운동 빈도는 여전히 '3~4회'가 28.4%로 가장 많은 반면, 여학생은 '1~2회'가 36.3%로 가장 많은 것으로 나타나 9시 등교정책 후에도 여전히 여학생에 비해 남학생의 운동 빈도가 상대적으로 많은 것으로 나타났다(P<0.001). 9시 등교정책에 대한 인식도를 조사한 결과 9시 등교정책이 아침식사 섭취 빈도를 증가시킨 것으로 인식한 남학생은 56.8%, 여학생은 53.9%였다. 숙면을 취하는 데 영향을 주었다고 인식한 남학생은 39.2%, 여학생은 47.1%였으며 신체적인 피로도의 감소(남학생 40.1%, 여학생 38.2%) 및 신체적인 건강의 향상(남학생 36.5%, 여학생 32.8%)에도 기여한 것으로 인식하고 있었다. 본 연구 결과 안산지역 중학생들은 9시 등교정책이 아침식사 섭취 빈도의 증가, 숙면 및 신체적인 기능을 향상시키는 데 긍정적인 영향을 준 것으로 인식하는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 9시 등교정책이 중학생들의 규칙적인 아침식사를 통한 깊은 수면의 유도 및 바람직한 신체활동을 통한 건강한 학교생활이 지속될 수 있도록 학교와의 지속적인 협력 및 연계를 통한 국가차원의 정책적인 지원이 요구된다.

중학생들의 성별에 따른 다중지능과 기술적 문제해결력과의 관계 (The Relation between Gender and Multiple Intelligence and Technological Problem Solving Ability of Middle School Students)

  • 이 연구에서는 학습자 개인의 다양한 지적 능력을 파악할 수 있는 다중지능이 성별에 따라 기술적 문제해결력에 어떠한 영향을 미치고 있는가를 조사하여, 성별에 따른 기술적 문제해결력의 차이를 줄이기 위한 방안을 제시하고자 한다. 연구의 대상은 광역시 이상에 소재한 중학교 3학년 833(남학생 423, 여학생 410)명이었고, 문용린(2001)과 1998년 CRESST에서 개발한 도구를 사용하였다. 연구의 결과 첫째, 신체운동지능, 논리수학지능, 자연친화지능, 음악지능, 대인관계지능, 자기성찰지능은 남학생과 여학생간에 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 있는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 둘째, 기술적 문제해결력의 자기조절성향과 문제해결전략에서 남학생과 여학생간에 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 있는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 셋째, 자기조절성향에 영향을 미치는 다중지능으로 남학생은 논리수학지능, 언어지능, 자기성찰지능, 자연친화지능, 여학생은 논리수학지능, 자기성찰지능, 자연친화지능, 언어지능으로 밝혀졌다. 넷째, 문제해결력에 영향을 미치는 다중지능으로 남학생은 논리수학지능, 음악지능, 신체운동지능, 여학생은 언어지능과 음악지능으로 밝혀졌다. 다섯째, 지식 개념도 작성에 영향을 미치는 다중지능으로는 남학생과 여학생 모두 논리수학지능으로 밝혀졌다. 연구의 결과 나타난 성별에 따른 차이를 줄이기 위해, 초 중등학교 교육과정 개발에 다중지능과 직 간접적으로 관련된 분야를 집중적으로 개발할 수 있도록 고려한다면 다중지능의 차이에 의해서 발생되는 학업성취도 차이를 어느 정도 극복할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

중학생의 정서적 공감과 죄책감 경향성이 또래괴롭힘 방어행동에 미치는 영향과 학급분위기의 조절효과 (Influence of Affective Empathy and Guilt-proneness on Defending Behavior against Bullying among Middle School Students and the Moderating Role of Classroom Climate)

  • This study examined the influences of middle school students' affective empathy and guilt-proneness on defending behavior against bullying and investigated if class climate (teacher support and student support) had moderating effects. The participants consisted of 163 second to third grade students (77 boys and 86 girls) in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do. The data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation, and hierarchical regression. Moderating effects were examined using multiple regression analysis. The results of this study indicated that guilt-proneness, teacher support, and student support had significant effects on the defending behavior of middle school students. The higher the level of guilt-proneness, the higher the level of defending behavior. Defending behavior was also higher when students perceived a belongingness to a classroom where their teacher and students provided support. However, affective empathy had no effect on defending behavior. Second, teacher support moderated the relation between guilt-proneness and defending behavior. The effects of guilt-proneness on defending behavior against bullying were greater when teacher support was high compared to low. The results suggested that guilt-proneness and classroom climate play important roles in increasing defending behavior in middle school students. Some implications for future research were also discussed.
