The teachers of four middle schools are participated through questionnaires with this survey. According to the results, supplemental factors of learning activities, convenient facilities for students, factors with space utilization, moving class and arrangement of similar subject blocks are influential in order on the awareness of teachers for correspondence of variation type. In the analysis of variance based on the sampling factors, significant differences were shown in the factors of attached group, gender, age and managemental experience of variation type. Especially, the factors with moving class and convenient facilities for students are analytically more differential than the other factors, therefore, these factors must be considered in detail.

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest a systematic and effective way of environmental education by analyzing current environment classes being provided as one of elective courses in some middle schools and their impact on the students. To conduct this study, 1,467 students of 36 middle schools were asked to fill out the questionnaire of 30 items and they were divided into two different groups depending upon whether they were taking ‘environment’ classes at school or not. The survey was peformed to see if there is a difference between these two groups in terms of their recognition of environmental problems and their daily practice of that concept. The conclusion is that the students taking environment classes have more knowledge about environmental issues than the ones without the classes, but their actual behaviors show no difference. In that point, it is necessary to take up a more effective and practical way of environmental education together with teaching its theoretical values.

Those who receiving health education in elementary school accounted for 41.5% and those who had not accounted for 58.5%. Health education experience(75.8%) led to toothbrushing after meal(p<0.05). Those who receiving health education in elementary schools had 1.76 times of toothbrushing after meal than those who had not(p<0.01). Conclusions: Middle school students receiving health education had a tendency to do toothbrushing and hand washing frequently.

  • Investigation on the appendices was carried out to acquire teaching materials about improvement of a appendices and development of teaching-learning activities for science textbooks in Korean middle schools. We analysed the appendices for 30 kinds of science textbooks used in Korean middle schools during $1969{\sim}1994$ years. In the results there were three kinds of pattern for the appendices, such as appendix, non-appendix, and similar appendix without appendix title. The content of appendices were summarized as six categories. such as list of science and scientist history, SI unit-constants and symbols, handling methods of instruments for basic experiments, measuring methods and inquiry activity, safety and precautions, and supplementary data with figures and tables. The appendices of six categories were mostly a content of general and integrated science, and were concentrated in the first grader's textbooks. There were many appendices about the methods for basic experiments such as 'How to Use of Experimental Appliances' in the first grader's science textbooks, but there was no or lack of them in the second and the third grader's science textbooks in the middle school. By the ratio to the pages of appendices which were included according to curriculum changes. the ratio was found to be 4.47% which was the highest in middle school science textbooks at the second curriculum and to be 3.47% which was the highest in high school biology textbooks at the second curriculum. The results of this study indicated that the science textbooks should include as many appendices as possible, because teachers could utilize them in teaching activities and students should be able to be given much help in self-learning.

The schools that they are attending are 2 schools in Gwangju City and 2 schools in a township in Jeonnam. 617 students responded to the survey. In order to see the general characteristics and the distribution of major variables of the respondents, the data were used to produce frequency. percentile, standard deviation and correlation quotient. and t-test. one-way Anova, Duncan's multiple range test and multiple regression analysis techniques were put to use. The results from this study are as follows: student groups that have good relations with other students seemed to be more open and active in their communication with their mother and father. Female students and students in their 2nd grade had more open talking relations with their mothers than male students and students in their 3rd grade. Students had more open talking relations with their father when father's occupation is office worker. In the difference of self-esteem that results from variables in communication between students and parents, a significant variance was presented in the level of the self-esteem of middle school students. When they had open communication with both parents, they had a high sense of self-esteem. and when their communication style was problematic, they had a low sense of self-esteem.
