Words for Numbers and Transcoding Processes Reflected by ERPs during Mental Arithmetic (수 연산과정에서 ERP로 확인된 숫자어휘와 부호변환 과정)

  • The effect of the code conversion process of Korean script (Hangul), also known as words for numbers, was investigated using event-related potentials (ERPs) during mental arithmetic operations. Study subjects were asked to determine whether the arithmetic results of a given target stimuli were correctly matched. Visual inspection and statistics of mean ERPs showed stimulus type-dependent processing rather than task-dependent processing. Results of addition and multiplication tasks revealed that the overall temporal profiles of the Arabic numerals were similar to the Hangul words for numbers. The only exception to this observation was a delayed positive-slope peak occurring around 300 ms, which was likely related to the encoding process of Hangul words for numbers to Arabic-digits, defined as a 'transcoding-related potential.' Source analysis confirmed that the topography of different waveforms for the two conditions was attributed to a single dipole located in the left temporo-parietal area; this area is known to be involved in Hangul words for number processing. These results suggest that the initial processing for encoding words for numbers was followed by arithmetic operations without direct access of internal number representation. Exploring the Digital Workbook Development for Mind Healing on a Smart Environment (스마트 환경에서의 마음치유용 디지털 워크북 개발을 위한 탐색)

  • Many healing programs regard successful healing as the cure of the presenting physical and emotional problems. To heal present broken heart on a smart environment, we need to know states of mind. We also have to need psychoanalytic healing that cure mind caused. It is necessary to consider a more comprehensive view of healing that incorporates not only physical healing but mental healing. For this, we analyze through retrospective review from existing researches and healing programs. We obtain psychological and emotional factors about negative side effects on a smart environment. Throughout this study we draw upon factors of psychology and emotion to represent pictures by projective methods such as visual representation. That pictures is being used in developing the digital workbook for mind healing. We look at the possibility of psychological therapy from negative side effects causing converts into digital forms which have fixed scales on a smart environment.

  • A comprehension-based approach to learning assumes that incoming information and background knowledge are integrated to form a mental representation which is subsequently used to incorporate new knowledge. It is demonstrated that this approach can be validated by comparing human and computational model performance in the prompt learning context. A computational model (ADAPT-UNIX) based on the construction-integration theory of comprehension (Kintsch, 1988; 1998) predicted how users learn from help prompts which are designed to assist UNIX composite command production. In addition, the comparison also revealed high similarity in composite production task performance between model and human. Educational implications of present research are discussed on the basis of the fact that prompt instructions have differential effect on learning and application as background knowledge varies.

Expert-novice differences of mental representation and problem solving strategy in mechanics problems (물리 문제에 있어서 전문가-초보자 간의 내적표상과 해결방안의 차이)

  • 과학교육에서의 문제해결력의 강조는 그 긴 역사를 가지고 있으나, 인지 심리학에서의 정보처리 모형을 사용한 문제해결과정의 분석이 사용되면서 그 교수가능성이 높아지고 있다. 본 연구는 하나의 탐색연구로써 학습자들이 물리문제를 해결하려는 과정에서 그 문제를 자기나름으로 이해하여 만든 내적표상과 동원한 해결방안이 문제해결에 어떤 관련이 있는지를 알아내보려고 한다. 물리전공 박사과정 학생 3명을 전문가로, 고등학생 2명과 대학 1년생 4명, 모두 6명을 초보자로 삼아 역학내용을 다룬 세 문제를 소리내어 푸는 과정을 개인별로 녹음하여 그 문제해결과정들을 분석하였으며, 학생들의 사고수준을 알기위해 사고 수준검사가 실시 되었다. 주로 질적 분석을 사용했으나 그 결론을 뒷받침하기위해 비모수통계방법이 사용되었다. (유의수준 . 10) 밝혀진 결론은 다음과 같다. 1) 내적표상은 피험자와 문제에 따라 각각 달랐다. 초보자들은 모두 한가지 표상을 세 문제에 걸쳐 계속 사용한데 반해, 2명의 전문가는 문제에 따라 다른 표상을 사용하였다. 이러한 표상의 형태에 따라 문제해결결과가 달랐다. 즉,일-에너지 표상형태를 사용한 피험자가 더 나은 결과를 얻는것으로 나타났다. 2) 문제해결방안에 있어서는 전문가들은 세문제에 걸쳐 계속하여 지식-개발 방안을 사용하였으나 초보자들은 문제에 따라 다른 방안들을 동원하였다. 지식-개발 방안을 사용한 경우가 다른 것들에 비해 더 나은 결과를 얻는 것으로 나타났다. 3) 사고 수준검사(하위검사 또는 전체)의 접수와 문제해결과정 변인들-특히 내적표상의 형태, 문제해결방안의 종류, 목표확인 그리고 문제 해결력-간에는 유의미한 관련이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 4) 그외 속도와 가속도 개념의 혼동, 마찰력 개념의 부정확 등이 공통적으로 범하는 실수였다. 본 연구가 과학교육 실제에 주는 함의로는 내적표상, 문제해결방안의 훈련을 통한 문제해결력의 향상을 들 수 있겠으며 이를 위한 세부연구가 실행되어야 할 것이다.

ATTACHMENT-BASED INTERVENTION (애착장애의 치료)

  • We reviewed four types of Attachment intervention, 1) programs that seek to enhance sensitivity, 2) programs designed to alter parents' representations, 3) programs that provide and enhance social support, and 4) programs designed to enhance maternal mental health and well-being, and Project STEEP(Steps Toward Effective and Enjoyable Parenting). We have learned from the these studies that the emotional sensitivity and responsivity are very important factors for the development and treatment of Attachment relationships and the needs of the parents should also be addressed. Our recommendation for future attachment intervention is to design programs 1) that have the flexibility to meet participants' needs, 2) that involve other important people in the participants' lives, 3) that focus on fostering individual strengths, 4) that begin early, and 5) that are intensive and sufficiently long.

An Analysis of the Cognitive Characteristics of Child Residential Environment Using Cognitive Map (인지도(Cognitive Map)를 활용한 아동의 주거환경 인지 특성 분석)

  • It is very necessary to know about child recognition of residential environment to plan and design an environment proper for children's growth and development. The research method using Cognitive Map, which may be defined as "an overall mental image of representation of the space and layout of a setting" can be a good tool for studying child recognition of residential environment. This study analyzed the child recognition of the size of home range, the number of residential environment elements, the types of Cognitive Map and the levels of Cognitive Map to understand the contents of child recognition about their residential environment. Subjects were 206 children in age6, 8 and 10 in Gwanju and Jeonnam area. As the result of the study, we found that 70% of child recognized 100~500 M as the size of home range, and that the number of the elements of residential environment was 7, average. And we also found that sequential map was more popular than spatial map in child's Cognitive Map type and that almost 60% of child respondents drew the Cognitive Map of level 1 complexity type. As the result of this study, we could know that the research method using Cognitive Map was very useful for understanding the child recognition of residential environment.

Suicide-Related Behaviors among College Students and suicide prevention (대학생의 자살관련행동 및 예방대책)

  • This aim of the present study was to determine the prevalence of suicide-related behavior(suicide ideation, plans and attemps) and its relationship in college students. 384 college students in Daejeon, Chungbuk provice were selected for this study from April 2 to April 21, 2012. Collected data was analyzed by using the SPSS 19.0 pragram. The prevalence of lifetime suicide ideation, plans and attemps were 32.3%, 4.7% and 3.0%. Respondents with mild ~ severe depressive symptoms were 42.2%. Depressive symptom was the consistent and crucial risk factor associated with suicide-related behavior indicates(suicide ideation, plans and attempts) commonly. We consider the suicide ideation and depressive symptom when develop the suicide prevention program. To prevent suicide, institutionalization of suicide screening program for who experience suicide ideation, depression, follow management of pre-suicide attemptor, surrounders of suicide victims, development of manual about strategy toward suicide, operating mental health program, delicate media representation.

A Consideration on the Major Concepts of Rural Social Geography in Korea (한국 촌락사회지리학의 주요 개념 모색)

  • Social geography in Korea has been studied centering around urban social geography which has been developed mainly in English world, and then there have been a few concepts and theories that were tested in the rural social geography of Korean rural landscape. This article tried to grasp the conceptual basis of German social geography, and had views on the rural social geography in the relent English world. As a result, the author concluded that the rural landscape would be a representation of rurality, a component of local and national identity, and thought to be not only a physical reality but social, mental, cultural reality On the basis of this consideration, the author explored major concepts which would correspond with the universality and speciality of Korean rurality. They are as follows: 'lineage group' as a geographical socio-group, the 'regionalization' by social groups, and 'the territoriality of settlement' as a social space.

Environmental Cognition of Buddhism in the View of the Environmental Psychology(I) -Formation of Concept- (환경심리 측면에서 본 불교의 대상인식(I) -개념설정을 중심으로-)

  • This paper is studied on the concept of environmental cognition on accordance with the oriental(especially Buddhism) process of thinking. The Yeongiron(theroy : one of th most famous philosophy of Buddhism, the theory of cause and occasion) consists of the upgam-yeongi, the aroeyasik-yeongi, the chinyeo-yeongi and the pupkye-yeongi. And the concept of these theory are as follows: The conceptural elements of upgam-yeongi consist of sack(色), soo(受), sand(想), hand(行), sik(識). The elements connects with the western environmental psychology such as sack and objects, soo and stimuli, sand and perception, hand and cognition, sik and behavior. Similarly, aroeyasik-yeongi that consist of sangbun(相分), kyunbun(見分), chajungbun(自證分), chungjajungbun(證自證分) connects with objects, perception, cognition, behavior too. The chinyeo-yeongi divide into smase(三細) and yukchu(육추), the samse consist of mumyungupsang(無 明業相), nungyunsand(能見相), kyungyesand(境界相) and the yukchu consist of chisang(智相), sangsoksang(相續相), chipchisang(執取相), kyemyungjasang(計明字相), kiupsang(起業相), upgyegosang(業繫苦相). These elements are relates with the concept of western environmental psychology from objects to behavior too. Pupkye-yeongi represent a characteristic of objects itself rather than a process of environmental cognition. Pop Art-Inspired Fashion (패션에 나타난 팝 아트의 영향)

  • Throughout the history of fashion and fashion collections, fashion design has been influenced by fine arts. Philosophy and concept of fine arts has been inspiration on the development of fashion design which brings on the close interrelation between fine arts and modern fashion. In order to analyze the affect of fine arts such as Pop art on fashion this study inquires into new perspective that considers different social contexts on the premise that acknowledges the essential difference between the genre of fine arts and design. This study researches the influence of Pop art which has been inspiration on fashion designers since the birth in the 1960s and often appears in recent fashion trends. In view of the results achieved in this study, Pop art-inspired fashion does not concern the aesthetic contemplation of everyday life in western society anonymously as in Pop art but deals with pop art as new ideas in a way that adopts images randomly from designer's convenience which is equivalent to the conception of pastiche. In addition, it was inferred that Peter Pan syndrome exert influence as a mental process and Kidult trend operate on Pop art-inspired fashion as a social phenomenon. On the basis of the theoretical background, the formative features in Pop art-inspired fashion from Spring/Summer 2000 to Spring/Summer 2004 collection has been analyzed. The results fall on the following four categories; those are the use of Pop color which resembles the Hard-edge technique in Pop art, direct appropriation of Pop art such as Andy Warhol and Roy Lichitenstein's works on clothes and accessories, adaptation of Pop art's subject using brand names of mass products or icons in mass culture as design motives, and application of representation method in Pop art such as Andy Warhol's silk screen techniques or Tom Wesselman's composition of pictures.
