How Shipping Company Satisfies Shippers Through Service Quality in South Korea: The Mediation Role of Trust

  • Purpose - This study aims to verify the direct causal relationship between cost competitiveness and global network competitiveness, which are the tangible service quality factors determined by the shipping company, which in turn affect the shipper's customer satisfaction. Additionally, we empirically investigate the intangible, related service qualities determined by shipping companies, such as operational competitiveness and customer relationship quality, and how these then positively affect customer satisfaction through the formation of trust. Therefore, we examine the mediating effect of trust formation among different contractors for shipping services. Design/methodology - In order to examine the shipping company's tangible and intangible service-qualities perceived by the shipper on customer satisfaction and the process of trust formation between contractors, we collected valid data from 114 respondents out of 200 distributed questionnaires. The respondents consisted of domestic freight forwarders who engage with domestic and international shipping and logistics agencies. Descriptive statistics, confirmatory factor analysis, reliability, convergent and discriminant validities, common method bias, and PLS-SEM (partial least square-structural equation model) were analyzed using the program STATA 16. Findings - The findings of this study are as follows. First, our results showed that all hypotheses assumed in this study had statistically significant supporting evidence. Second, it was found that the mediating effect of trust was significant in affecting the quality of intangible service- qualities for customer satisfaction. Third, through supplementary analysis, we found that the global network competitiveness of domestic shipping companies will increase in importance in the future. In conclusion, the theoretical and practical implications of these findings are presented. Originality/value - This study reaffirmed the traditional causal relationship between customer satisfaction and tangible service quality. Additionally, we also contribute to the literature on the understanding of the causal relationship between trust formation and customer satisfaction through intangible interactions from a long-term perspective.

The Effects of Empathy on Self-Esteem and Subjective Well-Being (공감 (Empathy)이 자기존중감과 주관적 안녕감에 미치는 영향)

  • Previous studies have investigated the effect of empathy on relations. However, there have been few studies that found the effect of empathy on subjective well-being. This study aimed to investigate relations between empathy and subjective well-being. It was hypothesized that empathy had effects on subjective well-being in the mediation of self-esteem. Heo, J.H. and Lee, C.J. (2010) investigated the psychometric properties of EQ. However they did not do confirmatory analysis. So confirmatory analysis needs to be done in this study. Data was collected from 421 College student (male 192, female 225), and analyzed by SEM and path analysis. Results revealed that 3 factors model of EQ was proper, and EQ had effects on subjective well-being in the mediation of self-esteem. This suggested that empathy be a very important factor in our culture, and fulfillment of cultural task enhance self-esteem, which improve subjectve well-being. And cultural features should be considered in the study of empathy.

  • Recently, as the management environments are changing rapidly and the uncertainty is becoming larger, the needs of internal control for management and IS become stronger. In order to construct a new internal control system for IS, it is necessary to evaluate the former research of the system. This study emphasizes the importance of effective internal control system, presents a conceptual framework for the preceding factors to consider, and verifies empirically the framework. This study sets the organization citizenship behavior, IS innovation resistance, and IT capability from the viewpoint of Socio-Technical system as the preceding factors for the effectiveness of internal control system. A research model, affecting the above factors on IS capability as a mediating variable of the internal control effectiveness for the use of IS, is set up. PLS-Graph 3.0 is used to verify the model. We found that the internal control effectiveness have affirmative effect on information capability, a surrogate variable of the IS effectiveness and a mediation effect is meaningful.

Relationship between Grit and Achievement Behavior in Physical Education Classes Based on the Expected-Value Model (기대-가치 모델에 근거한 체육수업에서 그릿(Grit)과 성취행동의 관계 이해)

  • The purpose of this study was to test the mediation effects of grit on the relationship between expectancy-value and achievement behavior in physical education class. Data for the study were collected from a survey of 353 middle school students. For data processing, this study confirmed the goodness of fit test of the whole model using SPSS 20.0 and AMOS 20.0, and then did hypothesis testing; the study results are as follows: First, students' expectation-value perception had a positive effect on grit, and only success expectation had a significant effect on achievement behavior. Second, students' grit had significant impacts on their achievement behavior. Third, grit had mediating effects on relations between expectancy-value and achievement behavior.

Maternal Overprotection and Young Children's Interactions with Peers During Play: The Mediating Roles of Social Immaturity and Withdrawal of Children (어머니의 과보호와 유아의 놀이 중 또래상호작용: 사회적 미성숙과 위축의 매개역할을 중심으로)

  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to explore the pathway from mothers' overprotective parenting to their child's peer play interactions mediated by internalizing problems, that is, social immaturity and withdrawal. Methods: Surveys were conducted on mothers and teachers of 341 children aged three to five. SPSS 22.0 was used to analyze the data using descriptive statistics. Structural modeling analysis was also implemented to test theoretical model using AMOS 21.0. Results: Maternal overprotective parenting, which increased social immaturity of their child, indirectly reduced the child's positive interactions with peers during play. Mothers' overprotection led to a higher level of withdrawal of their child while the effect of children's withdrawal on their peer play interaction was not significant. Because overactive parenting of mothers had no direct effect on peer play interaction, the complete mediation model representing a path from maternal overprotection to children's peer play interaction via their internalizing problems was partially supported. Conclusion/Implications: This study shows that overprotective mothers hinder their child to experience confident and mature manners, and eventually lead their child to be socially unskillful and incompetent. It was suggested to explore more individual characteristics of mothers and children to help overprotective mothers to take a step back.

Path Model Analysis of the Maternal Childhood Attachment, Emotions, Parenting Behaviors and Children's Behavioral Problems (어머니의 아동기 애착, 정서, 양육행동과 아동의 문제행동의 경로모형 분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to validate a hypothetical path model of maternal childhood attachment, emotions, parenting behaviors, and child behavioral problems. The research was conducted with 240 sets or mothers and their children 70 mother-child teams from seven counseling organizations including the Children's Counseling Clinic, Community Social Welfare Service Center, and Welfare Service Center for the Disabled in Seoul, Incheon, and Pyeongtaek, and 170 elementary school children from Seoul and their mothers. Consequently, a total of 200 mother-child teams were selected for this study. The data in this study were analyzed with SPSS 12.0 program and LISREL 8.3 program. The result of this study is as follows: (1) Examining the path of paternal attachment and the internalizing and externalizing behavioral problems, it was noted that paternal attachment had the indirect effect of anxiety and over-protection on the path to internalizing problems and the indirect effect of anxiety also noted is that there is a full-mediation of anxiety and over-protection between paternal attachment and the internalizing problems. (2) Examining the path of maternal attachment and the internalizing problems, it was noted that maternal attachment has direct effect on the internalizing problems. Maternal attachment has the indirect effect of self-esteem depression, anxiety and over-protection on the Path, and the indirect effect of self-esteem, anxiety and over-protection. (3) Examining the path of maternal attachment and the externalizing problems, it was noted that maternal attachment has direct effect on the externalizing problems and on the path to the externalizing problems, and maternal attachment has the indirect effect of depression, the indirect effect of self-esteem and authoritarian control, and the indirect effect of self-esteem and depression.

A Study on the Determinants of Business Performance of Agricultural Firms with the Digital Agriculture -Focused on Moderating Effect of Finance Support Program- (디지털농업화에 따른 농업경영체의 기업성과 결정요인에 관한 융복합 연구 -재정지원 프로그램 활용의 조절효과 중심으로-)

  • This study investigated the effect of digital agriculturalization factors on business performance with the use of financial support as a moderating variable for agricultural firm workers. The factors of digital agriculture were divided into digital technology innovation orientation, administration innovation orientation, healthiness of ecosystem and entrepreneurship orientation, and business performance was set as a dependent variable. 212 questionnaires collected from workers in agricultural businesses located across the country were used for empirical analysis. Analysis results using SPSS v22.0 and Process macro v3.4 are as follows: First, digital technology innovation orientation, administration innovation orientation, and entrepreneurship orientation have a significant effect on business performance, and the effect of ecosystem health on business performance is appeared to be insignificant. Second, the use of financial support was found to significantly moderating the relationship between digital technology innovation orientation and business performance, entrepreneurship orientation and business performance. On the other hand, it was found that the relationship between operational innovation orientation, business performance, and healthiness of ecosystem and business performance were not significantly moderated In addition, as a follow-up study, a study on the mediation model formed by the discovery of mediators and a study for a moderated mediation analysis through a conditional process model with additional mediators are required.

How Total Quality Management Mediates Antecedent Variables of Employee Performance?

  • The research objective was to find out how Total Quality Management (TQM) mediates antecedents of employee performance variables? The research was conducted with a quantitative approach while the research design was cross sectional. The research model was tested using the structural equation modeling approach with partial least square analysis tools to test the influence among research variables. The research sample consisted of 315 respondents who answered a questionnaire in August-September 2019 at manufacturing companies in East Java. The results showed that situational leadership did not affect employee performance, but did affect the successful implementation of TQM. The performance measurement system has no direct effect on employee performance. The performance measurement system has a direct effect on employee performance. Organizational culture has a direct effect on both employee performance and the application of TQM, so that the application of TQM can improve employee performance. TQM implementation variable acts as a mediation between situational leadership and organizational culture on employee performance. The relationship that was originally a direct influence turned into an indirect effect through TQM. The TQM variable is not proven to be an intervening variable between the performance measurement system and employee performance. There is a direct relationship between these two variables.

The Effect of the Innovative Characteristics and the Consumer Characteristics of the AI Elderly Care Robot on the Intention to Acceptance (AI 노인 돌봄 로봇의 혁신특성과 노인소비자특성이 수용의도에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the effect of the innovation characteristics that AI Elderly Care Robots have on elderly consumers and to verify the acceptance or mediated resistance by the elderly of the innovation characteristics. Research was conducted throughout this study of the characteristics of the elderly so that the study results could contribute to the improvement of the quality and manufacture of AI Elderly Care Robots by lowering the psychological resistance of the elderly. Survey questions were answered by senior citizens aged 65 and older. The SPSS25 and AMOS22 programs were used for analysis. The analysis confirmed that innovation resistance has a significant mediated effect on the characteristics of elderly consumers and their willingness to accept the innovation characteristics of the AI Elderly Care Robots. Through this study, Ram's innovation resistance model has been verified empirically and it is estimated that by considering the specificities of elderly consumers and using the information to contribute to the development and modification of AI Elderly Care Robots will increase the willingness of the elderly to accept the innovation characteristics of the AI Elderly Care Robots.

Mediation Effect of Organizational Citizenship Behavior between Job Embeddedness and Turnover Intention in Hospital Nurses (간호사의 직무착근도와 이직의도의 관계에서 조직시민행동의 매개효과)

  • Purpose: The purpose of the study was to identify the mediating effect of organizational citizenship behavior between job embeddedness and turnover intention in hospital nurses. Methods: Data were collected from 241 nurses in 3 tertiary hospitals and 2 secondary hospitals in Daegu and analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson correlations and structural equation model (SEM) with the PASW 18.0 and AMOS 18.0 program. Results: There were negative relationships between job embeddedness and turnover intention (r=-.53, p<.01), and organizational citizenship behavior and turnover intention (r=-.39, p<.01) but a positive relationship between job embeddedness and organizational citizenship behavior (r=.39, p<.01). There was a partial mediating effect of organizational citizenship behavior between job embeddedness and turnover intention (${\chi}^2=91.02$, p<.001). Conclusion: The results of this study indicate that organizational citizenship behavior has a mediating effect on the relationship between job embeddedness and turnover intention in hospital nurses, suggesting that enhancing organizational citizenship behavior is required. in order to promote job embeddedness and reduce turnover intention.
