The purpose of this study is to investigate the current state of the contents of the mathematics education that are implemented for 3-10 grade students in Korea. To satisfy the purpose of the study, we conducted a nationwide questionnaire to get opinions from students on the relevance of the mathematics curriculum. 4,158 elementary school students, 4,571 middle school students, and 1,653 high school students participated in this survey. Many students feel that the quantity is relevant, so the requirement of reduction in quantity is a little. Also secondary students feel that mathematics is difficult and this condition becomes more serious in proportion as grade. Finally we noticed the difference between sexes, grades, and tracks of studying in every question.
Although the mathematical power is considered important in the 7th curriculum, there is not concrete and systematic approach. To implement the mathematical power in the school mathematics, the several suggestions are given including the introduction of educational mathematics.

In this study, we analyzed how the content and achievement criteria of the Geometry domain of Korean elementary school mathematics curriculum have changed. To this end, based on the analysis framework based on the 2015 revised curriculum, the achievement standards for each period were classified into continuous, extinct, and additional types, and their characteristics were examined. In the domain of Geometry, continuous achievement standards accounted for 51% of the total, and there were many achievement standards that remained unchanged in grade and domain. The extinctive achievement standard is 20.4% of the total, and the mathematics contents that were rapidly introduced due to the modernization of mathematics in the 3rd curriculum were eliminated the most from the 4th curriculum, and after the 7th curriculum, With the introduction of staged curriculum and the system of school year group, the contents of learning were either integrated or moved to middle school. The additional achievement standard was 28.6% of the total, and the achievement standard was added the most with the introduction of spatial sensory development in the 7th curriculum. The GAct that the additivel achievement standard is more than the extinction achievement standard in the Geometry domain is the result of the efforts to actively introduce the geometric contents appropriate to the times despite the great flow of curriculum revision of the curriculum reduction. It is hoped that the results of these studies will be used as basic data in the formation of new achievement standards in future curriculum development.
The purpose of this study was to specify knowledge and skills that are expected to be learned by students worldwide at the elementary level of Mathematics. This was achieved by extracting knowledge and skills commonly expected to know and perform in elementary school level by analyzing elementary math curriculum of twelve countries that vary geographically and economically. Based on the data gathered and analyzed, the common domains extracted from this study in elementary level Mathematics include Number and Operations, Geometry, Measurement and Data. And knowledge and skills that children are expected to achieve in each domain by the end of primary school were listed. This research showed that for elementary level Mathematics, the majority of the curricula had the commonalities in Number and Operations, Geometry, Measurement and Data. Though this study had the limitations of analyzing curriculum documents open to public, this study will offer the ground for discussion on the elementary mathematics education in a global context.
Elementary textbook ${\ll}Mathematics\;4-2{\gg}$ first published in 2014 according to the 2009 elementary mathematics curriculum has been dealing with concave polygons which were not treated in elementary textbooks according to the previous curriculum. However, n the present paper, to show that there is a need to reconsider the handling of the concave polygons, after discussions about the polygon, problems in handling the concave polygons were discussed in next two viewpoints: Does 2009 elementary mathematics curriculum allow handling of the concave polygons? are there any logical leaps in handling of the concave polygon? And the following reasons to reconsider the handling of the concave polygons are presented as conclusions. First, there was no process of publicizing the handling of the concave polygon. Second, the evidences that will justify the handling of the concave polygon can not be found in 2009 elementary mathematics curriculum. Third, there are logical leaps in the handling of the concave polygons. Fourth, there is no consistency in handling the concave polygons.
This article examines the Korean classroom teachers' perceptions about the 7th national mathematics curriculum for elementary school. Elementary classroom teachers were surveyed using the researcher-made questionnaire (Teacher Perception about Mathematics Curriculum) and 143 teachers completed the questionnaire. The data collected was analyzed by a descriptive analysis. The results revealed that about 67% teachers considered the curriculum was well developed in scope and sequence. However, 43% teachers reported that the teacher's manual should provide clearer explanation instructional strategies to teach the math topics to children. 38(26%) teachers claimed the curriculum contains too much content to teach. 34(24%) of the teachers indicated some contents were developmentally too difficult for their students to understand. The most serious difficulties for the teachers in teaching mathematics was to accommodate individual student's different mathematics abilities, especially accelerated by private lessons at the after school programs.
In this paper, to provide an idea for the 2022 revised mathematics curriculum by restructuring the content of the 2015 mathematics curriculum, the content elements of recurring decimals of textbooks, which showed differences in the curriculum of Korea and Japan, were analyzed. As a result of this study, in Korea, before the introduction of the concept of irrational numbers, repeating decimals were defined in the second year of middle school, and the relationship between repeating decimals and rational numbers was dealt with. In Japan, after studying irrational numbers in the third year of middle school, the terminology of repeating decimals is briefly dealt with. Then, when learning the concept of limit in the high school <Mathematics III> subject, the relationship between rational numbers and repeating decimals is dealt with. Based on the results of the study, in relation to the optimization of the amount of learning in the 2022 curriculum revision, implications for the introduction period of the circular decimal number, alternatives to the level of its content, and the teaching and learning methods were proposed.
If the philosophy of the curriculum is changed when the curriculum is revised, discussion about knowledge viewpoints in the changed philosophy is needed. The purpose of this thesis is to analyze elementary mathematics textbooks(EMT) based on the perspective of constructivism knowledge as basic philosophy of the 7th curriculum and the 2007 revised curriculum and to present aim of textbooks development through the results. According to the results, the number and operation units of 1st and 2nd grades of EMT compiled according to the 7th curriculum and the 2007 revised curriculum didn't reflect the perspective of constructivism knowledge as the philosophy of the curriculum. From the analysis, EMT were not composed so as to agree the perspective of constructivism knowledge that emphasize concepts, conceptua1 principles, variety, integration.
According to the degree of teacher's understanding for the curriculum, There are a lot of differences in teaching-learning methods and assessment items are one of the representative products reflecting these differences. Therefore we need to investigate how the understanding degree of the teacher for curriculum is reflected in the paper-based assessment items through analyzing them. In this study, we analyzed midterm and final 219 exam papers of 'Calculus I' which was based on the 2009 revised mathematics curriculum and focused on items of 'the Limit of Sequences' which content area is among total 4,632 questions. We investigated how the changed curriculum is reflected in the high school evaluation. Based on the results of the analysis, we confirmed the problems derived from the paper-based assessment. Through this, we sought to draw implications for the educational policy that should be accompanied necessarily in order to stabilize the new curriculum after the revision of the curriculum.
Since textbooks are developed according to the curriculum, it might be said that the terms registered in curriculum can serve as guidelines for terms used in textbooks. But it really is not. In this study, so that terms registered in curriculum can serve as guidelines for terms used in textbooks, inconsistencies between them would be found out and improved. To this end, suitability of selecting and using terms are discussed, focusing on terms registered in curriculum and terms used in textbooks. In fact, there are significant differences between the terms registered in curriculum and the terms in textbooks, because there is not any criteria in selecting and using terms. In this study the five criteria with respect to registering terms in curriculum are proposed. Everyday language should not be registered. Naturalized terms should not be registered. Terms used in only elementary mathematics, but are already well-established should be registered. Same term used in diverse context should be registered only once. Terms which can be used without definition should be designated. Three criteria in regard to using terms in textbooks are proposed. Terms registered in curriculum must be used. Same term used in diverse context should be redefined in every context. Terms that are not certified and are not absolutely necessary must not be used.
