동아시아 수학사에서 가장 중요하고 기초적인 문헌은 <구장산술九章算術>이다. 이 책은 오랜 세월 동안 여러 주석가들에 의해 보완되고 재해석되며 광범위한 영향력을 미쳤다. 우리나라 역시 이 영향권 안에서 삼국시대 이래로 <구장산술>을 기본 산학서로 취급해 왔고 19세기 조선 수학자 남병길은 이 책에 대한 주석서 <구장술해九章術解>를 출판했다. 본 연구에서는 이 두 책의 구성과 내용을 확인하고 그것의 교육적 활용 가능성에 대해 모색해본다.

In this paper we establish some results on the increments of a d-dimensional Gaussian process with the usual Euclidean norm. In particular we obtain the law of iterated logarithm and the Book-Shore type theorem for the increments of ad-dimensional Gaussian process, via estimating upper bounds and lower bounds of large deviation probabilities on the suprema of the d-dimensional Gaussian process.

Assume G is a finite p-group and i is a fixed positive integer. In this paper, finite p-groups G with ${\mid}N_G(H):H{\mid}=p^i$ for all nonnormal subgroups H are classified up to isomorphism. As a corollary, this answer Problem 116(i) proposed by Y. Berkovich in his book "Groups of Prime Power Order Vol. I" in 2008.

We study the periodic homogenization of the non-stationary Stokes equations. The fundamental homogenization theorem and corrector theorem are proved under a very general assumption on the viscosity coefficients and data. The proofs are based on a weak formulation suitable for an application of classical Tartar's method of oscillating test functions. Such a weak formulation is derived by adapting an argument in Teman's book [Navier-Stokes Equations: Theory and Numerical Analysis, North-Holland, Amsterdam, 1984].

The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of cookbook making activities on young children's mathematical concept and writing development. The participants were comprised of 50 five-year-old children from two intact classes from a kindergarten in Gyeonggi province, and they were divided into an experimental and a comparison group. The experimental group participated in cooking activities and produced cookbooks as extension activities whereas the comparison group carried out only cooking activities. The results indicated that the children in the experimental group received statistically higher scores in mathematical concept- and writing-tests, suggesting that cookbook making activities are a useful educational tool for enhancing young children's mathematical concepts and facilitating their writing development.

It is well known that a lot of mathematical theories of many famous mathematicians had scholarly effects on Isaac Newton. Nonetheless, his private internal view or attitude to natural philosophy is not so much known. In this paper we will approach him via his famous book Principia an physics and mathematics, considering the influences acted on him by mathematicians in the history of mathematics.

In this paper, we investigate the types and roles of ancient mathematical proof by exploring Gu-Jang-Sal-Sul. Gu-Jang-Sal-Sul is a ancient Chinese mathematics book. Types of proof contained in Gu-Jang-Sal-Sul are enactive proof and intuitive proof and the role of proof is explanation. And we suggest social background of proof in Gu-Jang-Sal-Sul topographically, culturally, and logically.

Until now, there were few supports on reading the mathematical expressions except text based expressions, so it is important to provide the reading of the mathematical expressions. Also, there are various of obstacles for people who are not visually impaired when reading the mathematical expressions such as the situation of presbyopia, reading the mathematical expressions in the vehicles, and so on. Therefore, supports for people to read mathematical expressions in various situations are needed. In the previous research, the main goal was to transform the mathematical expressions into Korean text based on Content MathML. In this paper, we expanded the range of the research from a reading disabilities to people who are not reading disabilities. We tested appropriacy of the rules we made to convert the MathML based expressions into speech and defined 3 math-to-speech rules in korean based on levels. We implemented the mathematical expressions by using 3 math-to-speech rules. We took comprehension test to find out whether our math to speech rules are well-defined or not.

Probability and statistics is an important section in mathematics which is deeply related to everyday living, natural science and social science. In spite of its importance, many students will throw away it because it becomes very harder as its step(stage) deepens and probability and statistics' relative importance is very small in Korea-SAT(the test of college entrance in Korea). Therefore, by analyzing the involvement carefully between the curriculum in the elementary, middle, high school and the text book, by studying the problem and improvement direction, it is necessary to investigate an effective teaching method. This study intends to give the students the confidence, interests, and accomplishment motive about probability and statistics field and to make a rational and creative decision-making through mathematical speculation by proposing an effective teaching method through analyzing an existing facts in school's probability and statistics field. The contents of this study are composed of four chapters. Chapter three looks into the mathematical curriculum in the elementary, middle, high school and its teaching meaning, the outline of contents, some tips on teaching and problems and presents an effective and concrete teaching method on the basis of the theoretical background in the chapter two. Chapter four is a conclusive part and gives the general improvement and intentional direction in educating the probability and statistics.
