Atopic dermatitis (AD) were caused by localized hypersensitivity reaction to an allergen. Therefore, to reduce inflammatory response of AD had been developed that natural extracts and oils with anti-inflammatory activities. This study were investigated that anti-inflammatory effects of Malva verticillata L. oil induced by LPS with RAW 264.7 cells. We measured to production of NO and expression of COX-2, iNOS, TNF-${\alpha}$ by RT-PCR. The Malva verticillata L. oil had decreased the production of NO (p<0.05) and the mRNA level of iNOS in concentration dose dependent manner. In conclusion, this study have shown here may be of help to understand the action mechanism of the anti-inflammatory and we hope that Malva verticillata L. oil used in skin diseases such as AD.

Mma-5 and Malva are extracts from a defined seaweed of the Rhodophyceae family and an annual or perenial plant, respectively. They have traditionally a significant stimulating properties such as protein synthesis, astringent, emollient, and et al.. In order to investigate the effect on wound healing, we studied for cell migration, cell attachment, and cell proliferation in vitro. The results of present study demonstrated that MMA-5 and Malva extract had the effect on wound healing, therefore we suggested that they could be effective materials to be applied to Cosmetic products.
In September 2017, vein clearing and yellowing symptoms resembling those caused by viruses were observed on leaves of Malva verticillata in Chungnam, Korea. Nucleic acids were extracted from leaves of five symptomatic plants and tested by reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction using four virus specific primer pairs including malva vein clearing virus (MVCV). Amplicons of the expected size (600 bp) were obtained from total RNA of all samples using the MVCV-specific primers. To confirm the presence of MVCV in symptomatic plants, the DNA fragments from three samples were purified, and directly sequenced. BLAST analysis revealed that it shared the highest nucleotide identity (99%) with a MVCV isolate from tomato (Mexico). The virus isolates obtained from the third re-inoculated Chenopodium was designated as Cm1-5. Tissue from Cm1, Cm3, and Cm5 isolates was mechanically sap inoculated into 23 indicator plants. Cm3 isolate induced chlorotic local and mosaic symptoms in Althaea rosea. Phylogenetic analysis based on coat protein gene of 19 MVCV isolates from 6 different countries and plant species, did not correlated with either the geographical origin of the isolates, or pathogenicity. To our knowledge, this study first reports the natural occurrence of MVCV on M. verticillata in Korea and characterization of three Korean isolates of MVCV.
Malva vein clearing virus (MVCV) is a member of the Potyvirus species, and has a negative impact on the aesthetic development of Alcea rosea. It was first reported in Germany in 1957, but its complete genome sequence data are still scarce. In the present work, A. rosea leaves with vein-clearing and mosaic symptoms were sampled and analyzed with small RNA deep sequencing. By denovo assembly the raw sequences of virus-derived small interfering RNAs (vsiRs) and whole genome amplification of malva vein cleaning virus SX strain (MVCV-SX) by specific primers targeting identified contig gaps, the full-length genome sequences (9,645 nucleotides) of MVCV-SX were characterized, constituting of an open reading frame that is long enough to encode 3,096 amino acids. Phylogenetic analysis showed that MVCV-SX was clustered with euphorbia ringspot virus and yam mosaic virus. Further analyses of the vsiR profiles revealed that the most abundant MVCV-vsiRs were between 21 and 22 nucleotides in length and a strong bias was found for "A" and "U" at the 5′-terminal residue. The results of polarity assessment indicated that the amount of sense strand was almost equal to that of the antisense strand in MVCV-vsiRs, and the main hot-spot region in MVCV-SX genome was found at cylindrical inclusion. In conclusion, our findings could provide new insights into the RNA silencing-mediated host defence mechanism in A. rosea infected with MVCV-SX, and offer a basis for the prevention and treatment of this virus disease.

The purpose of this study was to optimum formulation conditions for the preparation of retort pouched marsh snail Senisulcospira livertina soup with curled mallow Malva verticillata and optimized the sterilization process. Samples were prepared according to the central composite rotatable design (CCRD) by encrypting the amounts of marsh snail broth, boiled marsh snail and blanched curled mallow, which are the main ingredients of retort pouched marsh snail soup with curled mallow. Raw marsh snail was sorted by size of 4-5 level, and then marsh snail was washed and removed sediment in a water tank for 3 min, then boiled at 100℃ for 10 min, and then directly separated by hand to prepared a boiled marsh snail. The marsh snail cube is prepared by combining blanched at 100℃ for 10 sec curled mallow (27 g) and green onion (20 g) with boiled marsh snail (27 g) and soybean paste (10 g). The marsh snail cube was placed with marsh snail broth (416 g) in a retort pouch film. Subsequently, sterilization (118.0℃, 25 min; F0 value, 12 min) and cooling were performed using a steam retort.
Stimulation of AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) signaling followed by increase of glucose uptake in L6 myotubes were studied with organic solvent extract of Malva verticillata (MV) seeds. Ethanol extract of M. verticillata seeds (MVE) significantly increased the phosphorylation level of AMPK, acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACC), and glucose uptake in L6 myotube cells. The MVE was fractionated with n-hexane (MVE-H), chloroform (MVE-C), ethylacetate (MVE-E), n-butanol (MVE-B), and water (MVE-W). MVE-H (150 ${\mu}g$/ml) showed the highest phosphorylating activity and increased glucose uptake by 2.3-fold. Oral administration of MVE-H (40 mg/kg) for 4 weeks to type 2 diabetic (db/db) mice reduced non-fasting and fasting blood glucose levels by 17.1% and 23.3%, respectively. Phosphorylation levels of AMPK and ACC in the soleus muscle and liver tissue of db/db mice were significantly increased by the administration of MVE-H. MVE-H was further fractionated using preparative HPLC to identify the AMPK-activating compounds. The NMR and GC-MS analyses revealed that ${\beta}$-sitosterol was a major effective compound in MVE-H. Phosphorylation levels of AMPK and ACC, and glucose uptake were significantly increased by the treatment of MVE-S (${\beta}$-sitosterol) isolated from M. verticillata to L6 cells, and these effects were attenuated by an AMPK inhibitor (Compound C) pretreatment. These results, taken together, demonstrate that increased glucose uptake in L6 myotubes by MVE-H treatment is mainly accomplished through the activation of AMPK. Our finding suggests that the extract isolated from M. verticillata seed would be beneficial for the treatment of metabolic disease including type 2 diabetes and hyperlipidemia.

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of hair Ampoules with Malva Verticillata Seed Extract in alopecia patients. Methods : This 24-week clinical study enrolled 70 patients with Alopecia. A series of clinical examinations, subjects were evaluated at 0, 8, 16 and 24-week, counting of the number of hairs on the crown, and subject survey after using the Ampoules. Results : The clinical evaluation showed a significantly difference (p<0.05) after 24 weeks of product use compared to the baseline in the change in hair count in the treatment group compared to the control group within and between groups. It showed greater improvement in the treatment group than in the control group in hair count, hair thickness, and hair loss symptoms in the top of the head and forehead. No severe adverse events were observed during the clinical trial. Counclusions : This suggests that this hair ampoules containing Malva Verticillata Seed Extract could help prevent hair loss in alopecia patients without inducing side effects.
The fibrinolytic activities of soluble proteins extracted from seeds of Coix lacryma-jobi L., Carthamus tinctorius L. and Malva venicillata L. were studied. Fibrinolytic activity of extract from C. lacryma-jobi L. showed 1.3 times higher than plasmin used as positive control. The fibrinolytic enzyme was confirmed and extracted directly from seed of C. lacryma-jobi L. by a fibrin zymography. The protein was composed of a single polypeptide and its apparent molecular weight was found to be 7.8 kDa, as judged by SDS-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. The effect of temperature for the proteolytic enzyme activity were stabilized above $50^{\circ}C$ and then dramatically decreased. Also, the enzyme activity was clearly inhibited by APMSF, PMSF and TPCK, suggesting that it is a member of the chymotrypsin-like serine pretense. In addition, effects of gamma-irradiated on seed of each plants were revealed that 8 Gy and 64 Gy were higher than others. This result shown that gamma-irradiation of seeds were capable to increase the fibrinolytic activity. All these results suggest the pretense is a fibrinolytic enzyme belong to a family of chymotrypsin-like serine pretense.
