Corrosion Inhibition of Steel Rebar in Concrete with the Coated MCI 2022

  • The induced chemical and salt solution in water or admixture are originated to the corrosion process of the steeo rebar. These liquids penetrate into concrete as the accompanied by the chemical reaction and cause to attack the steel rebar in concrete. Concrete surfaces which it exposed to deicing, water and sea water is allowed to enter the chlorides in the structures. To prevent from the source of corrosion and deterioration Is subjected to put an end to corrode or reduce to contaminate on the steel rebar. As this reason the MCI 2022 products are applied to the surface of concrete and steel rebar. The concrete samples were made of to the kind of four, i.e. RF, MR, MS, and MM. Corrosion inhibitor is applied to coat on the surface of concrete after it had been cured for 28days. Specimen were immersed in a 3.5% sodium chloride solution. Concrete specimen were tested to determine the changes of the resistance polarization, Rp, over a 22 weeks period. MCI 2022 is significantly shown the corrosion inhibition of steel rebar in 3.5% NaCl solution. In the each different concrete sample, MS and MM is seemed to be better than others. The results are proofed that MCI 2022 is promised to maintain the inhibition of corrosion with high resistance polarization of the steel rebar in concrete.

Duplex Surface Modification with Micro-arc Discharge Oxidation and Magnetron Sputtering for Aluminum Alloys

  • Micro-arc discharge oxidation (MDO) is a cost-effective plasma electrolytic process which can be used to improve the wear and corrosion resistance of Al-alloy parts by forming a alumina coating on the component surface. However, the MDO coated Al-alloy components often exhibit relatively high friction coefficients and low wear resistance fitted with many counterface materials, additionally, the pitting corrosion for the MDO coated AI-alloy components, especially for a thinner alumina coating, often occurs in atmosphere circumstance due to the porous alumina coats. Therefore, a duplex treatment, combining a MDO coated ahumina thin layer with a TiN coating, prepared by magnetron sputtering (MS), has been investigated. The Vicker's microhardness, pin-on-disc, electrochemical measurement, salt spray, XRD and SEM tests were used to characterize and analyze the treated samples. The work demonstrates that the MDO/MS coated samples have a combination of a very low friction coefficient and good wear resistance as well as corrosion since the micro-holes on alumina coating are partly or fully covered by TiN material.

Electrospray법을 이용한 MS275/PLGA submicron 코팅 티타늄에서의 표면변화와 간엽줄기세포증식에 관한 연구 (A study of mesenchymal stem cell proliferation and surface characteristics of the titanium discs coated with MS275/PLGA by an electrospray)

  • 연구 목적: 본 실험은 MS275와 PLGA (poly lactic-co-glycolic acid) 의 복합체를 submicron 크기로 티타늄 디스크 표면에 코팅하여, 표면의 변화를 알아보고 생물학적으로 간엽 줄기세포 활성에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 조사하기 위해 시행되었다. 연구 재료 및 방법:양극산화 디스크에 electrospray 코팅법을 이용하여PLGA를 분사한 것을 대조군으로 설정하고, MS275를 $0.5{\mu}M$, $1{\mu}M$, $1.5{\mu}M$ 농도별로 코팅한 것을 실험군으로 하였다. 티타늄 디스크 표면에 분사된 복합체가 submicron입자 크기로 이루어졌는지SEM을 통해 확인하였으며, MS275로 코팅한 디스크와 양극산화 디스크의 거칠기 차이를 확인하기 위해 AFM으로 관찰하였다. 디스크 위에 간엽줄기세포 배양 후 1, 4, 7일에 세포증식 양상을 SEM과 MTT 검사를 통해 확인하였다. 결과: AFM (atomic force microscope) 결과 대조군과 실험군에서 거칠기의 유의할만한 차이가 없었다(P>.05). MTT 결과 1, 4, 7일 시간이 지남에 따라 세포 증식이 활발해졌으며 세포배양 7일에 $0.5{\mu}M-1.5{\mu}M$ MS275 농도 안에서, MS275의 농도가 커짐에 따라 세포의 활성도가 높아짐이 유의할 수준으로 확인되었다(P<.05). 세포 부착을 SEM으로 확인한 결과, 세포의 부착 수는 시간이 갈수록 증가하고 부착 형태 역시 돌기가 크고 넓어지며, 표면과 긴밀함 접촉이 증가하였다. 결론: FE-SEM과 MTT 결과 MS275/PLGA 복합체로 표면 처리된 타이타늄 표면에서 세포가 초기에 (7일내) 빠르게 증식하였다. 또한 복합체 처리군의 농도가 증가할수록 높은 세포 성장 수치를 보였다.

Development of a Matrix-prespotted Plate for Enhancing the Reproducibility of Serum Glycan Analysis by MALDI-TOF-MS

  • Matrix Assisted Laser Desorption/Ionization-Time-of-Flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF-MS) is the most widely used MS technique for glycan analysis. However, the poor point-to-point and sample-to-sample reproducibility becomes a limit in glycan biomarker research. A prespotted MALDI plate which overcomes the large crystal formation of 2,5-dihydroxybenzoic acid (DHB) has been developed and applied for glycan analysis. A homogeneous matrix coated surface without a crystal structure was formed on a hydrophilic/ hydrophobic patterned surface using a piezoelectric device. The reproducible MALDI-TOF-MS data have been presented using MALDI imaging of beer glycan as well as serum glycan eluted from 10% and 20% ACN elution fractions. The glycan profile from the serum glycan by MALDI-TOF-MS with a DHB prespotted plate was highly conserved for 10 different spectra and the coefficient of variations of significant ion peaks of MALDI data varies from 3.59 to 19.95.

펄스 도금법을 이용한 STS 316L 스테인리스강 상의 저온 염욕 알루미늄 코팅에 관한 연구 (Study of the Al-coating on the STS 316L Stainless Steel by Pulse Plating in the Molten Salts at Room Temperature)

  • Electroplating methods by molten salts and non-aqueous melts were employed for aluminium coating on STS 316L stainless steel. After coated with Ni or non-coated surface on stainless steel, Al pulse plating was carried out in two different types of electrolytes at room temperature. The Al layer from $AlCl_3$-TMPAC melts could not obtain appreciable thickness for engineering application due to chemical reactions between deposits and moisture of air. However, The Al coating by pulse plating in the Ethylbenzene-Toluene-$AlBr_3$ systems was found to be solid coating layer with a few $\mu\textrm{m}$ scale. The conductivity of Ethylbenzene-Toluene-$AlBr_3$ electrolyte was as functions of time and agitation. By seven days exposure after mixing of the electrolyte, Al-deposited layer shows uniform and near by pore-free with high current density (higher than 30mA/$\textrm{cm}^2$). The roughness and imperfection of coating layer were decreased with a increasing agitation speed. It was found that the optimum condition for the Al pulse plating on the 316L stainless steel was a 400mA peak current, duty cycle, $t_{on}$ $t_{ off}$=3ms/1ms, and a current density of 30mA/$\textrm{cm}^2$.

ATR FT-IR과 pyro-GC/MS를 이용한 다층박막필름의 분석 (Analysis of Multi-layered Thin Film Using ATR FT-IR and pyro-GC/MS)

  • PET기재 필름 위에 코팅된 다층박막 필름의 층별성분을 ATR FT-IR과 Pyro GC/MS(Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectroscopy)를 이용하여 분석을 시도하였다. 필름의 단면은 액체질소에 담근 후 파괴시켜 얻었으며 광학 현미경을 이용하여 관찰하였다. 이 결과 코팅층의 총 두께는 $70{\mu}m$였으며 3개의 층으로 관찰되었다. 각 층의 두께는 너무 얇기 때문에 표면층을 제외하고는 직접분석이 어려워 적절한 용매로서 각 층을 드러나게 한 후 ATR FT-IR과 pyro-GC/MS를 이용하여 분석을 시도하였다. 이 결과 3개 층은 공통적으로 우레탄-아크릴레이트 공중합체로 밝혀졌다. 또한 무기 혹은 금속성분의 첨가여부는 XPS와 SEM-EDAX를 이용하여 분석하였으며 도장층 (1)에는 나노크기의 실리카 입자가 도장층 (2)에서는 알루미늄 박편이 존재함을 알게 되었다.

ZnS:Cu,Cl 형광체의 특성에 미치는 원자층 증착 초박막 HfO2의 영향 (Effect of Ultrathin Film HfO2 by Atomic Layer Deposition on the Propreties of ZnS:Cu,Cl Phosphors)

  • An investigation is reported on the coating of ZnS:Cu,Cl phosphors by $HfO_2$ using atomic layer deposition method. Hafnium oxide films were prepared at the chamber temperature of $280^{\circ}C$ using $Hf[N(CH_3)_2]_4\;and\;O_2$ as precursors and reactant gas, respectively. XPS and ICP-MS analysis showed the surface composition of coated phosphor powder was hafnium oxide. In FE-SEM analysis, the surface morphology of uncoated phosphors became smoother and clearer as the number of ALD cycle increased from 900 to 1800. The photoluminescence intensity for coated phosphors showed $7.3{\sim}13.4%$ higher than that of uncoated. The effect means that the reactive surface is uniformly coated with stable hafnium oxide to reduce the dead surface layer without change of bulk properties and also its absorptance is almost negligible due to ultrathin(nano-scaled) films. The growth rate is about $1.1{\AA}/cycle$.

Ionic liquid coated magnetic core/shell CoFe2O4@SiO2 nanoparticles for the separation/analysis of trace gold in water sample

  • A new ionic liquid functionalized magnetic silica nanoparticle was synthesized and characterized and tested as an adsorbent. The adsorbent was used for magnetic solid phase extraction on ICP-MS method. Simultaneous determination of precious metal Au has been addressed. The method is simple and fast and has been applied to standard water and surface water analysis. A new method for separation/analysis of trace precious metal Au by Magnetron Solid Phase Extraction (MSPE) combined with ICP-MS. The element to be tested is rapidly adsorbed on CoFe2O4@SiO2@[BMIM]PF6 composite nano-adsorbent and eluted with thiourea. The method has a preconcentration factor of 9.5-fold. This method has been successfully applied to the determination of gold in actual water samples. Hydrophobic Ionic Liquids (ILs) 1-butyl-3-methylimidazole hexafluorophosphate ([BMIM]PF6) coated CoFe2O4@SiO2 nanoparticles with core-shell structure to prepare magnetic solid phase extraction agent (CoFe2O4@SiO2@ILs) and establish a new method of MSPE coupled with inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry for separation/analysis of trace gold. The results showed that trace gold was adsorbed rapidly by CoFe2O4@SiO2@[BMIM]PF6 and eluanted by thiourea. Under the optimal conditions, preconcentration factor of the proposed method was 9.5-fold. The linear range, detection limit, correlation coefficient (R) and relative standard deviation (RSD) were found to be 0.01~1000.00 ng·mL-1, 0.001 ng·mL-1, 0.9990 and 3.4% (n = 11, c = 4.5 ng·mL-1). The CoFe2O4@SiO2 nanoparticles could be used repeatedly for 8 times. This proposed method has been successfully applied to the determination of trace gold in water samples.

교질상 적철석의 거동 특성: 수환경 내 이온 조성 및 세기, 자연 유기물이 미치는 영향 (Study on the Behavior of Colloidal Hematite: Effects of Ionic Composition and Strength and Natural Organic Matter in Aqueous Environments)

  • 수환경 내 철 (수산)산화물은 주로 광산 활동에 의해 생성되며 주변 환경을 교란시키는 대표적인 교질물이다. 철 (수산)산화물들 중 지표에 많이 분포하고 있는 적철석은 수환경 내 다양한 환경인자들로 인해 거동 특성이 변한다. 본 연구는 배경용액의 이온 조성과 세기, pH, 자연 유기물 등의 환경적 인자가 교질상 적철석의 거동에 미치는 영향을 살펴보고자 수행되었다. 특히, 적철석 교질물 입자들의 거동특성을 보다 더 명확하게 해석하고자 동적광산란분석기(dynamic light scatterer, DLS)와 단일입자 유도결합플라즈마질량분석기(single particle ICP-MS, spICP-MS)를 비교하여 분석을 수행하였다. 배경용액의 이온 조성과 세기가 변함에 따라 적철석 입자의 표면 확산이중층의 두께가 변화될 뿐만 아니라, 입자에 미치는 정전기적 힘과 van der Walls의 합력이 변하면서 입자의 응집/분산 특성이 달라지는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 수환경의 pH가 적철석 입자의 영전하점(point of zero charge, PZC)에서 멀어질수록 정전기적 반발력이 커져 입자들이 분산되는 것을 확인하였다. 수환경 내 자연 유기물이 적철석의 표면을 코팅함에 따라서 자연 유기물 표면에 존재하는 카르복실기와 페놀기 등과 같은 작용기들로 인하여 적철석 입자의 정전기적 안정화와 구조적 안정화가 증가하는 것으로 조사되었다. 이러한 안정화 효과는 자연 유기물의 농도가 작을수록 증가하지만, 상대적으로 이온포텐셜이 큰 2가 양이온이 1가 양이온보다 자연 유기물로 코팅된 적철석 입자들 사이에서 더 큰 가교역할을 하기 때문에 자연 유기물로 코팅된 적철석 입자들의 안정화(분산)를 방해하는 것으로 확인되었다. 결론적으로, 수환경 내 교질상 적철석의 거동 특성은 이온의 조성과 세기, pH, 그리고 자연 유기물 등과 같은 환경적 인자들에 많은 영향을 받는 것을 정량적으로 확인할 수 있었는데, 그 중 자연 유기물은 수환경에서 교질물의 거동에 매우 지배적이고 주요한 제어인자임을 알 수 있었다. 한편, 적철석 입자의 거동 특성을 정량화할 수 있는 두 분석기법을 비교한 결과, DLS 분석기법은 신속성 및 편의성에서 강점을 지니는 반면 spICP-MS의 분석기법은 입자의 모양 및 응집 형태 등을 고려할 수 있는 장점이 있기 때문에 두 분석기법을 조합하여 활용하면 수환경 내 교질물의 거동 특성을 연구하는데 보다 더 효과적일 것으로 판단된다.

Optically transparent and electrically conductive indium-tin-oxide nanowires for transparent photodetectors

  • Single crystalline indium-tin-oxide (ITO) nanowires (NWs) were grown by sputtering method. A thin Ni film of 5 nm was coated before ITO sputtering. Thermal treatment forms Ni nanoparticles, which act as templates to diffuse Ni into the sputtered ITO layer to grow single crystalline ITO NWs. Highly optical transparent photoelectric devices were realized by using a transparent metal-oxide semiconductor heterojunction by combining of p-type NiO and n-type ZnO. A functional template of ITO nanowires was applied to this transparent heterojunction device to enlarge the light-reactive surface. The ITO NWs/n-ZnO/p-NiO heterojunction device provided a significant high rectification ratio of 275 with a considerably low reverse saturation current of 0.2 nA. The optical transparency was about 80% for visible wavelengths, however showed an excellent blocking UV light. The nanostructured transparent heterojunction devices were applied for UV photodetectors to show ultra fast photoresponses with a rise time of 8.3 mS and a fall time of 20 ms, respectively. We suggest this transparent and super-performing UV responser can practically applied in transparent electronics and smart window applications.
