  • In this paper we will be interested in characterizing and computing matrices $X\;{\in}\;C^{n{\times}n}$ that satisfy $e^X$ = A, that is logarithms of A. The study in this work goes through two lines. The first is concerned with a theoretical study of the solution set, S(A), of $e^X$ = A. Along the second line computational approaches are considered to compute the principal logarithm of A, LogA.

  • The performance of stilting engine, in particular, its energy conversion efficiencies are critically influenced by the regenerator characteristics. The regenerator characteristics are influenced by effectiveness, void fraction. heat transfer loss and fluid friction loss in the regenerator matrix. These factors were influenced by the surface geometry and material properties of the regenerator matrix. The regenerator design goals arc good heat transfer and low pressure drop of working Bas across the regenerator. Various data for designing a wire screen matrix have been given by Kays and London(1984). The mesh number of their experiment. however, was confined below the No. 60. which seems rather small for the Stirling engine applications. In this paper. in order to provide a basic data for the design of regenerator matrix, characteristics of heat transfer and flow friction loss were investigated by a packed mettled of matrix in oscillating flow as the same condition of operation in a Stirling engine. Seven kinds of sing1e wire screen meshes were used as the regenerator matrices. The results are summarized as follows; 1. While the working fluid flew slowly in the regenerator. the temperature difference was great at the both hot-blow(the working fluid flows from healer to cooler) and cold-blow(the working fluid flows from cooler to healer). On the other hand. while the working fluid flew fast. the temperature difference was not distinguished. 2. The No.150 wire screen used as the regenerator matrix showed excellent performance than tile others. 3. Phase angle variation and filling rate affected heat transfer or regenerator matrices. 4. Temperature difference between the inlet and outlet of the regenerator is very hish in degree of 120 phase angle.

  • We denote by $\mathcal{Q}(A)$ the set of all matrices with the same sign pattern as A. A matrix A has signed -space provided there exists a set S of sign patterns such that the set of sign patterns of vectors in the -space of e $\tilde{A}$ is S, for each e $\tilde{A}{\in}\mathcal{Q}(A)$. In this paper, we show that the number of sign patterns of elements in the row space of $\mathcal{S}^*$-matrix is $3^{m+1}-2^{m+2}+2$. Also the number of sign patterns of vectors in the -space of a totally L-matrix is obtained.

  • AC machines are in wide use in industry and d-q transformation from 3 phase of a, b, c is commonly used to analyze these kinds of machines. The equivalent circuits of d and q axis are, however, generally cross coupled and difficult to analyze. In this study, a modeling technique of AC machine including induction and PM synchronous motors using matrix vector is proposed. With that model, it can not only explain the AC machines physically but also make it simple to analyze them. The separating process of d and q components is not needed in this model and this model can be applied to analyze asymmetric motors like IPMSM machine. With this technique, the model becomes simple, easy to understand physically, and yields results that are the same as those from other models. These simulation results of the proposed model for induction motor are compared with those of other models to verify the method proposed.

  • This paper studies the observability of calibration system with a constraint movement by a constraint operator. The calibration system with the constraint movement need only simple sensing device to check whether the constraint movements are completed within an established range. However, it yields the concern about the poor parameter observability due to the constraint movements. This paper uses the QR-decomposition to find the optimal calibration configurations maximizing the linear independence of rows of a observation matrix. The number of identifiable parameters are examined by the rank of the observation matrix, which represents the parameter observability. The method is applied to a parallel typed machining center and the calibration results are presented. These results verify that the calibration system with low-cost indicators and simple planar table is accurate as well as reliable.

  • In [2] A.Hadjidimos proposed the generalized accelerated over-relaxation (GAOR) methods which generalize the basic iterative method for the solution of linear systems. In this paper we consider the convergence of the two parallel accelerated generalized AOR iterative methods and obtain some convergence theorems for the case when the coefficient matrix A is a block diagonally dominant matrix or a generalized block diagonally dominant matrix.

  • In this paper, we study the convergence of relaxed two-stage multisplitting method using M-splittings or SOR multi splitting as inner splittings and an outer splitting for solving a linear system whose coefficient matrix is an M-matrix. We also provide numerical experiments for the convergence of the relaxed two-stage multisplitting method.

  • This paper shows the method for obtaining the body flutter velocity and frequency for flight body which consists of low aspect ratio wing and body combination by assuming slender body of cylinderical shell structure. The stiffness matrix of the cylinderical shell is represented from Donnel eq. by the finite difference method, and also unsteady aerodynamic influence matrix is represented by the Doublet Lattice Method of Albano & Rodden. The flutter matrix can be obtained from those matrices.
