  • In this paper, we discuss the existence and uniqueness of fixed point and common fixed point theorems in complex valued extended b-metric spaces for a pair of mappings satisfying some rational contraction conditions which generalized and unify some well-known results in the literature.

  • In this paper we prove the following : Let M be a semi-invariant submanifold with almost contact metric structure (${\phi}$, ${\xi}$, g) of codimension 3 in a complex hyperbolic space $H_{n+1}{\mathbb{C}}$. Suppose that the third fundamental form n satisfies $dn=2{\theta}{\omega}$ for a certain scalar ${\theta}({\leq}{\frac{c}{2}})$, where ${\omega}(X,\;Y)=g(X,\;{\phi}Y)$ for any vectors X and Y on M. Then M has constant eigenvalues correponding the shape operator A in the direction of the distinguished normal and the structure vector ${\xi}$ is an eigenvector of A if and only if M is locally congruent to one of the type $A_0$, $A_1$, $A_2$ or B in $H_n{\mathbb{C}}$.

  • The notion of probabilistic metric spaces (or statistical metric spaces) was introduced and studied by Menger [19] which is a generalization of metric space, and the study of these spaces was expanede rapidly with the pioneering works of Schweizer-Sklar [25]-[26]. The theory of probabilistic metric spaces is of fundamental importance in probabilistic function analysis. For the detailed discussions of these spaces and their applications, we refer to [9], [10], [28], [30]-[32], [36] and [39].

  • Consider a gradient Einstein-type metric in the setting of K-contact manifolds and (κ, µ)-contact manifolds. First, it is proved that, if a complete K-contact manifold admits a gradient Einstein-type metric, then M is compact, Einstein, Sasakian and isometric to the unit sphere 𝕊2n+1. Next, it is proved that, if a non-Sasakian (κ, µ)-contact manifolds admits a gradient Einstein-type metric, then it is flat in dimension 3, and for higher dimension, M is locally isometric to the product of a Euclidean space 𝔼n+1 and a sphere 𝕊n(4) of constant curvature +4.

  • In this article, we show that a pseudo-Hermitian magnetic curve in a normal almost contact metric 3-manifold equipped with the canonical affine connection ${\hat{\nabla}}^t$ is a slant helix with pseudo-Hermitian curvature ${\hat{\kappa}}={\mid}q{\mid}\;sin\;{\theta}$ and pseudo-Hermitian torsion ${\hat{\tau}}=q\;cos\;{\theta}$. Moreover, we prove that every pseudo-Hermitian magnetic curve in normal almost contact metric 3-manifolds except quasi-Sasakian 3-manifolds is a slant helix as a Riemannian geometric sense. On the other hand we will show that a pseudo-Hermitian magnetic curve γ in a quasi-Sasakian 3-manifold M is a slant curve with curvature κ = |(t - α) cos θ + q| sin θ and torsion τ = α + {(t - α) cos θ + q} cos θ. These curves are not helices, in general. Note that if the ambient space M is an α-Sasakian 3-manifold, then γ is a slant helix.

  • In this Paper, the notion of $\varepsilon$-Birkhoff orthogonality introduced by Dragomir [An. Univ. Timisoara Ser. Stiint. Mat. 29(1991), no. 1, 51-58] in normed linear spaces has been extended to metric linear spaces and a decomposition theorem has been proved. Some results of Kainen, Kurkova and Vogt [J. Approx. Theory 105 (2000), no. 2, 252-262] proved on e-near best approximation in normed linear spaces have also been extended to metric linear spaces. It is shown that if (X, d) is a convex metric linear space which is pseudo strictly convex and M a boundedly compact closed subset of X such that for each $\varepsilon$>0 there exists a continuous $\varepsilon$-near best approximation $\phi$ : X → M of X by M then M is a chebyshev set .

  • In this article we make a local classification of n-dimensional Riemannian manifolds (M, g) with harmonic curvature and less than four Ricci eigenvalues which admit a smooth non constant solution f to the following equation $$(1)\hspace{20}{\nabla}df=f(r-{\frac{R}{n-1}}g)+x{\cdot} r+y(R)g,$$ where ∇ is the Levi-Civita connection of g, r is the Ricci tensor of g, x is a constant and y(R) a function of the scalar curvature R. Indeed, we showed that, in a neighborhood V of each point in some open dense subset of M, either (i) or (ii) below holds; (i) (V, g, f + x) is a static space and isometric to a domain in the Riemannian product of an Einstein manifold N and a static space (W, gW, f + x), where gW is a warped product metric of an interval and an Einstein manifold. (ii) (V, g) is isometric to a domain in the warped product of an interval and an Einstein manifold. For the proof we use eigenvalue analysis based on the Codazzi tensor properties of the Ricci tensor.

  • The aim of this paper is two-fold. First, we study the Chinea-Gonzalez class C12 of almost contact metric manifolds and we discuss some fundamental properties. We show there is a one-to-one correspondence between C12 and Kählerian structures. Secondly, we give some basic results for Riemannian curvature tensor of C12-manifolds and then establish equivalent relations among 𝜑-sectional curvature. Concrete examples are given.

  • Let $x : M^n \longrightarrow E^m$ be an isometric immersion of an n-dimensional connected Riemannian manifold into the m-dimensional Euclidean space. Then the metric tensor on $M^n$ is naturally induced from that of $E^m$.
