Ring VCO를 사용한 UHF 대역 CMOS Fractional-N 주파수합성기 설계 (Design of a UHF-Band CMOS Fractional-N Frequency Synthesizer Using a Ring-Type VCO)

  • In this paper, we describe a UHF-band CMOS fractional-N frequency synthesizer using a ring - type VCO. It has been designed using $0.18{\m}m$ CMOS technology. First, The newly designed charge-pump circuit includes an OTA for matching between the upper current and the lower current In addition, a ring - type VCO is also used for small chip sire. The simulation results show that the designed circuit has a phase noise of -109.53dBc/Hz at 1MHz offset and consumes 19.4mA from a 1.8V supply. The lock time is less than 30usec and the chip size is $0.45mm{\times}0.5mm$.

  • In this paper a Fractional-N frequency synthesizer is designed for UHF RFID readers. It satisfies the ISO/IEC frequency band $(860{\sim}960MHz)$ and is also applicable to mobile RFID readers. It is designed using a $0.18{\mu}$ RF CMOS process. The measured results show that the designed circuit has a phase noise of -103dBc/Hz at 100kHz offset and consumes 9mA from a 1.8V supply. The channel switching time of $10{\mu}s$ over 5MHz transition have been achieved, and the chip size including PADs is $1.8{\times}0.99mm^2$

  • In this paper, we have designed the fractional-N frequency synthesizer for bluetooth system using 0.35-um CMOS technology and 3.3-V single power supply. The designed synthesizer consist of phase-frequency detector (PFD), charge pump, loop filter, voltage controlled oscillator (VCO), frequency divider, and sigma-delta modulator. A dead zone free PFD is used and a modified charge pump having active cascode transistors is used. A Multi-modulus prescaler having CML D flip-flop is used and VCO having a tuning range from 746 MHz to 2.632 GHz at 3.3 V power supply is used. Total power dissipation is 32 mW and phase noise is -118 dBc/Hz at 1 MHz offset.

  • 최근 영상 장비와 기술이 발전함에 따라 우리 군에서도 작전지역에 대한 정보를 획득하고, 효율적인 지휘통제에 활용하기 위해 수많은 영상정보가 생산되어 활용되고 있다. 이때 현재 군내에서 활용하고 있는 영상 재생장비는 저성능의 전술용 다기능 단말기(TMFT)로부터 고성능의 영상서버에 이르기까지 매우 다양하고, 영상이 전송되는 네트워크 또한 저속의 전술정보통신체계(TICN)로부터 초고속의 국방광대역통합망(M-BcN)에 이르기까지 다양하다. 따라서 이기종(異機種) 통신장비 및 네트워크 환경에서 국방 영상정보를 효율적으로 전송할 수 있는 스트리밍 기법이 필요하다. 이 문제를 해결하기 위해 본 논문에서는 확장비디오코딩(SVC) 및 균형선택 알고리즘 기반의 피투피(P2P) 스트리밍 기법을 제안한다. 비토렌트 기반의 시뮬레이터를 활용한 성능분석결과 우리가 제안하는 균형선택 알고리즘 기반의 스트리밍 기법은 순차선택이나 희소선택 알고리즘에 비해 우수한 성능을 보였다.

  • In this paper, the fast locking PLL Frequency Synthesizer with low phase noise in a 0.18um CMOS process is presented. Its main application IS for the 915MHz ISM band wireless transponder upon the CPFSK (Continuous Phase Frequency Shift Keying) modulation scheme. Frequency synthesizer, which in this paper, is designed based on self-biased techniques and is independent with processing technology when damping factor and bandwidth fixed to most important parameters as operating frequency ratio, broad frequency range, and input phase offset cancellation. The proposed frequecy synthesizer, which is fully-integrated and is in 320M $^{\sim}$ 960MHz of the frequency range with 10MHz of frequency resolution. And its is implemented based on integer-N architecture. Its power consumption is 50mW at 1.8V of supply voltage and core area is $540{\mu}m$ ${\times}$ $450{\mu}m$. The measured phase noises are -117.92dBc/Hz at 10MHz offset, with low settling time less than $3.3{\mu}s$.

  • 본 논문은 싱글의 LC-탱크 전압제어발진기(VCO)를 사용한 $2{\sim}6GHz$의 CMOS 주파수 합성기에 관하여 기술하였다. 광대역에서 동작하는 주파수 합성기 설계를 위해 최적화된 로컬발진기(LO) 신호 발생기를 사용하였다. LO 신호 발생기는 LC-탱크 VCO와 이 신호를 분주하고 혼합하는 방법으로 광대역의 주파수에서 동작하도륵 구현하였다. 주파수 합성기는 3차 1-1-1 MASH 타입의 시그마-델타 모듈레이터(SDM)를 사용한 소수 분주 위상잠금루프(PLL)에 기초로 설계되었다. 제안한 주파수 합성기는 $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS 공정기술을 사용하여 설계하였고, off-chip 루프 필터를 가지고 $0.92mm^2$의 칩 면적을 차지하며, 1.8V 전원에서 36mW 이하의 전력을 소모한다. PLL은 $8{\mu}s$보다 적은 시간에서 록킹을 완료한다. 위상 잡음은 중심 주파수 신호로부터 1MHz 오프셋에서 -110dBc/Hz보다 작다.

  • This paper presents a 900MHz fractional-N frequency synthesizer for radio frequency identification (RFID) reader using $0.18{\mu}m$ standard CMOS process. The IC meets the EPC Class-1 Generation-2 and ISO-18000 Type-C standards. To minimize VCO pulling, the 900MHz VCO is generated by a 1.8GHz VCO followed by a frequency divider. The settling time of the synthesizer is less than $20{\mu}m$. The frequency synthesizer achieves the phase noise of -105.6dBc/Hz at 200kHz offset. The frequency synthesizer occupies an area of $1.8{\times}0.99mm^2$, and dissipates 8mA from a low supply voltage of 1.8V.

DTV 튜너를 위한 CMOS Fractional-N 주파수합성기 (A CMOS Fractional-N Frequency Synthesizer for DTV Tuners)

  • 최근 TV 방송의 새로운 시장인 DTV 시장이 넓어지면서 DTV 튜너에 대한 요구도 많아지고 있다. DTV 튜너를 설계하는 데에는 많은 어려운 부분이 있지만, 가장 어려운 부분 중에 하나가 주파수합성기이다. 본 논문에서는 DTV 튜너를 위한 주파수합성기 회로를 $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS 공정을 사용하여 설계하였다. 설계한 주파수합성기는 DTV(ATSC)의 주파수 대역(54~806MHz)을 만족한다. 하나의 VCO를 사용하여 광대역을 만족시킬 수 있는 구조를 제안하고, LO pulling 효과를 최소화 하기위하여 1.6~3.6GHz 대역에서 동작하도록 설계하였다. 또한 고주파 대역과 저주파 대역에서의 VCO 이득의 차이와 주파수 간격의 변화를 줄여 안정적인 광대역 특성을 구현하였다. 모의실험 결과, 설계한 VCO의 이득은 59~94MHz(${\pm}$17.7MHz/V,${\pm}$23%)이고, 주파수 간격은 26~42.5MHz (${\pm}$8.25MHz/V,${\pm}$24%)이며, tuning range는 76.9%이다. 설계된 주파수합성기의 위상잡음은 100kHz offset에서 -106dBc/Hz이고, 고착시간은 약 $10{\mu}s$ 정도이다. 설계된 회로는 1.8V 전원전압에서 20~23mA의 전류를 소모하며 칩 면적은 PAD를 포함하여 2.0mm${\times}$1.8mm이다.

Nutrient Digestibility, Ruminal Fermentation Activities, Serum Parameters and Milk Production and Composition of Lactating Goats Fed Diets Containing Rice Straw Treated with Pleurotus ostreatus

  • The study evaluated replacement of Egyptian berseem clover (BC, Trifolium alexandrinum) with spent rice straw (SRS) of Pleurotus ostreatus basidiomycete in diets of lactating Baladi goats. Nine lactating homo-parity Baladi goats (average BW $23.8{\pm}0.4$ kg) at 7 d postpartum were used in a triplicate $3{\times}3$ Latin square design with 30 d experimental periods. Goats were fed a basal diet containing 0 (Control), 0.25 (SRS25) and 0.45 (SRS45) (w/w, DM basis) of SRS. The Control diet was berseem clover and concentrate mixture (1:1 DM basis). The SRS45 had lowered total feed intake and forages intake compared to Control. The SRS25 and SRS45 rations had the highest digestibilities of DM (p = 0.0241) and hemicellulose (p = 0.0021) compared to Control which had higher (p<0.01) digestibilities of OM (p = 0.0002) and CP (p = 0.0005) than SRS25 and SRS45. Ruminal pH and microbial protein synthesis were higher (p<0.0001) for SRS25 and SRS45 than Control, which also had the highest (p<0.0001) concentration of TVFA, total proteins, non-protein N, and ammonia-N. All values of serum constituents were within normal ranges. The Control ration had higher serum globulin (p = 0.0148), creatinine (p = 0.0150), glucose (p = 0.0002) and cholesterol (p = 0.0016). Both Control and SRS25 groups had the highest (p<0.05) milk (p = 0.0330) and energy corrected milk (p = 0.0290) yields. Fat content was higher (p = 0.0373) with SRS45 and SRS25 groups compared with Control. Replacement of BC with SRS in goat rations increased milk levels of conjugated linoleic acid and unsaturated fatty acids compared with Control. It was concluded that replacing 50% of Egyptian berseem clover with SRS in goat rations improved their productive performance without marked effects on metabolic indicators health.

Breast Cancer in Bedouin-Arab Patients in Southern Israel: Epidemiologic and Biologic Features in Comparison with Jewish Patients

  • Background: Breast cancer (BC) is the most frequent cancer type, and the leading cause of death from cancer among women in Israel. The Bedouin-Arab (BA) population in southern Israel is characterized by a high rate of consanguinity, common hereditary disorders, and transition from a semi-nomadic, traditional society to a more sedentary and urbanized society. In this hospital-based study, the demographic and the clinicopathological characteristics of BC in BA were compared with Jewish patients. Materials and Methods: 85 BA patients treated at the Soroka Medical Center, Beer Sheba, during the years 2004-2012, were studied and compared with 180 consecutive Jewish patients treated during the year 2007. Clinicopathological features compared included age, menopausal state, number of births, a history of BC in first-degree relatives, tumor size (T), extent of lymph-node involvement (N), distant metastases (M), stage, grade, estrogen and progesterone receptor (ER/PR), and Her2 status. Types of treatment, relapse rate and site, as well as outcome were also studied. Cox's regression models were applied for studying disease-free, and overall survival. Results: Compared with Jewish patients, BA patients were younger (average age $49{\pm}12$ yrs vs $59{\pm}13$, p<0.001), had a lower rate of BC in first-degree relatives (p<0.001), and a larger number of births ($6{\pm}4.2$ vs $2.5{\pm}1.9$, p<0.001). BA patients had larger tumors (p=0.02), more extensive lymph-node involvement (p=0.002), and more advanced stage (p=0.003). Grade, ER, PR, and Her2 status were similar in the two ethnic groups. Relapse type was most commonly systemic in BA patients (p=0.05), and loco-regional in Jewish patients (p=0.02). Median survival was 63, and 35 months for Jewish and BA patients, respectively (log-rank test, p=0.02). In Cox multivariate analysis, stage and PR status (HR-0.14, p<0.0001; HR-3.11, p=0.046), but not ethnicity, influenced overall survival. Conclusions: BC presents a decade earlier, and with more advanced disease in BA compared with Jewish patients. Biologic parameters including grade, ER, PR, and Her2 status were similar in both groups. Although prognosis was worse in BA than in Jewish patients, it was affected only by stage and PR status, but not by ethnicity.
